So nice sounds no crank vibrate it is only valve and tappet noise so good only saw single type here.
I remember all those brands and more growing up in the 60's but it's so sad that only the Triumph remains. So many great names; Vincent, Velocette, Norton, Ariel, to name a few are now only pieces of history
At least Royal Enfield is still going, had a 1951 500 twin which was the easiest bike to start. Could put the starting lever half down before starting it, where as most bikes were very hard to start
The government should have supported those firms but didn't. These technologies should have been preserved and passed on.

Good god man, I just saw some of the most amazing motorcycles of all time, I'm an American and had a little knowledge of a few British bikes but not much more than that, that 37 matchless really stoped me cold and I immediately done research on it, great video

These v twin engines were supplied to British Rail for fitting to their track maintenance vehicles, to replace the old “ pump up and down type “ .

Love how all the old engines had a open valve setup were now they incase them I think you see more of the engineering when there open very cool bikes

Regardless of country of origin, the V-Twin engine is matchless.
No one could make much money - small island (relatively) x lots of manufacturers - this is just the tip of the iceberg, No V-Twins include Fanny Barnett, Norton, etc. Not much money = not much investment in technology plus WW2.
Don’t you just hate it when people stroll past or stand in front of you when you are trying to photograph or film something? Even if you are only about 18 inches away from the subject!
Matchless & Vincent for the win!
I think with 650cc Royal Enfield got us back to yesteryear's feeling, the sound of Jap Engines and the new 650 twins have lot of similarities, especially when you hear them. Yes i am talking about that unique scritchy sound, which runs parallel to exhaust sound!

OMFG I want one, but those old bikes break down weekly. I won't touch any British bike built before 2005.

Supprised by how short a time some of these manufacturers were around, looks like the Japanese will be here for a lot longer.
Sadly though, they will be forced to make electric motorcycles, so sad.

No it is certainly no copy of HD in any way. The British and German V twin engines originated around 1900. Harley waited another 9 years to introduce their V-twin.

n2dabloo Harley did keep the classic (pushrod valve train and both con-rods on one crankpin) engine layout and they deserve credits for that. No it is not the most efficient or powerful, but it has character and charisma. Most new bikes are boring as hell.
