I was at a local pull farm tractors only. A m m tractor was hooked to the sled. It moved the sled 10 to 20 ft a loud bang. The tractor stopped.

I wonder what the reaction of the engineers that design these old tractors to what we can get out of them with a little re-engineering

Thanks for sharing the video. I used to pull antique ones but never modified like these. Pulled an M and SMTA Farmall and a 720 diesel.

Man, those old JD twin cyl. diesels are nuts! I don't know how many rpm's they're turning, but it has to be at least 3 times the recommended rpm for an R or an 830.. and turbocharged to boot?!! How do they even keep them together?😱

As I watch I am keeping an eye out for a 70 diesel. It is one of the tractors I was raised with. Also I don't recall seeing people pulling them,is there a reason for this?

One of my friends who just passed had a D17 gas he put a Holley carburetor and a turbocharger he pulled on Labor Day weekend back in the 1970's in Oakwood, Ohio. Henry Dobbelaere blew it up on Saturday and had it back running for the Monday pull! He also farmed with it, and kept several Gleaner E motors handy! I have had several pretty good tractors but nothing like these! 600ci John Deere 70, 447 ci G Moline and a 460 with 398ci. Nothing like these!

I gotta tell ya Bill, I enjoyed the heck out of that!
“Hazardous Material” was quite the machine!
How fast were you revving the Ol Gal?
I read in an article one time that the 2 cylinder Deere’s didn’t work at all well with a turbo...
Guess’n the author never met Wild Bill Grimes!😉
Great vintage footage, thanks for sharing!
    Bless’ns to ya, Tedd

@@so.md.dirtfarmer2226 😱😮 Holy Moly! I figured that 70 had to be turning at least 2800 or better. That's just bonkers. I'll bet it's a helluva mess if a rod decides to exit the case unexpectedly!😛

Good pulls, Bill. That old MM with everything sitting on top of the hood at about the 22:00 sure was cool and it made a great pull too. It looked like something in a dystopian future after the collapse of society though but that added to the cool factor of it. LOL
