Im 23. I will keep your words with me through life. Understandable about the age, I will not take my age for granted.

Great stuff Shannon. I'm in my mid thirties and i can feel it to. I'm not as fast and full of energy as i used to be.

I'm only 23, but even compared to when I was in high school, things are crazy different. I can still do everything I want to do physically, but my body really pays for it the next day. Parts of my body hurt for seemingly no reason sometimes. Getting old scares me a lot, but this definitely eased my concerns a little bit to hear someone talk about it.

You’re not wrong. 53 year old female and fighting to keep active and get rid of the pooch belly. Hockey keeps me active

You are awesome Shannon! Age is just a number but I totally agree with everything you said! I felt the exactly same way when I turned 30 and especially 35! I’m 36 and my body has just gone to sh*t! But I’m disabled from birth and been in a wheelchair for a couple of years now, first not by choice but then crap just snowballed and well yeah. But no I feel ya man and you aren’t too old for TH-cam, you know you’re hockey stuff inside and out, keep it up.

Not necessarily The Schlocky Guy - because though it has a nice ring to it the word has some probably unwanted meanings - but the Other than Hockey Guy (not saying that's a good name but I can't think of a better one) and videos like these are a big reason I'm here. I avoid show and movie reviews because I haven't yet seen most but possibly might someday and don't want them spoiled, but alternative stuff like this that's not even necessarily "entertainment" I always look forward to.

One correlation I've read about is that the people you see who are fit or otherwise in shape later in life are doing it for a specific reason. This is usually related to an underlying health or mental problem. So it's a little dangerous to say that fit people die earlier when the underlying reason these people are fit or restricting their diet may be the true cause of death.
Someone who feels fine mentally and physically will be less inclined to change their lifestyle and diet.

Well, if you read the links in the description, it says "macho will make you sick" meaning that lifting weights and that kind of thing can take away your body's ability to fight infections.

In 21, I prefer talking to people who are 30-35 and up cause people are more and more full of shit the younger they are. Cant stand the majority of kids my age who get everything and dont respect any of it. Koodos to you for being one of the respectable guys. :)

With proper lifestyle and diet you should be able to do most of what you want to do until you're at least 75. So at 45 you should still consider youself young.

You know what ... you just don't think about it ... and you carry on. I'm 58 years old, fortunate to be very healthy. My work (Ford Factory) requires that I walk (back and forth .. over and over) 5 kilometers each day which probably is a really good thing. I take a liquid multivitamin (drink full of vitamins and minerals) every day ... and aside from losing my hair ... I still feel perfectly fine, tons of energy. Bottom line is ... just live your life .. keep active .. get proper nutrition ... and your odds improve dramatically towards being healthy. (and happily, I've never smoked - I'm sure that helps too)
