David, I seriously respect you for just being content with your car and not wanting more and more, as a viewer, and someone that looks up to you, that's a really respectable trait to have.
+iCool247 there will be always a faster car on the streets or track but or me i will not going to waste 50% of my salary on a car just to make it more faster unless of course if you have money and a second car to toy around with
ThatDudeinBlue I don't know if you'll see this or not but man I love your car I had a choice between a 2013 GT and a 1967 Mustang Coupe and I went for the coupe and I love that car to death. It has a 351 Windsor in it with a 3 speed manual. P.S. Love your car!!!
ThatDudeinBlue I'm a subscriber, but this has nothing to do with your car. My wife looks over my shoulder when I watch your videos. She is a Registered Nurse. All she sees is that your arm veins would be very easy to draw blood from. Okay, you may delete this comment now. Just an FYI.
Robert Torres well my father did 130k miles in less than 2 years! so there's that but of course he travels a lot plus a Mustang with history behind it and well taken care off won't hurt its value much.
I just bought a black bone stock 2012 convertible GT premium with 49,000 miles. I had a 2004 GT for over 5 years prior to the coyote. What you say parallels my own experiences. I loved my 2004 GT Leela, but I am so happy with the coyote. The car is light years better than my old new edge. I plan on doing an intake, exhaust, and tune. that is it. I can say I will be content. PS. New subscriber here.
You just gained a lot of freaking respect, about the whole content thing. I feel like everywhere car enthusiasts are out there modding just for the sake of modding, and constantly searching for something faster and better. I have found myself wanting more at times too, but the reality is there is nothing wrong with being content. The reality is there will always be something faster and better, and that need will never be met. I feel like this contentment is something rare in car culture
Dude.. congrats. This is not doubt a solid ride and its great o see the all the adventures you are having in it. You keep getting better and better. You are CONTENT. WOW. Imagine that. You have such an awesome ride. Enjoy it. We all have your back. Keep going-so much more to come!
The way David describes his content-ness with his 5.0 is how I describe my level of satisfaction with my 328i e92, even though its not one of the fastest cars or most stand out cars I'm more than happy with it and the the ammount of usable power in it just makes me smile everyday. Thats how you know you really found a great car, when your just so happy with it that you have plans to just drive it, nothing more nothing less. Great update glad to hear the cars going strong :D
8-Bit I got a 2012 model alpine white exterior with the m sport package (M3 Body kit and Suspension+Badging and sports seats) and red interior with the idrive system. The car's coupled with an xDrive system and dct transmission due to the fact that I need to daily it and have a high traffic commute. I got mine with about 49k miles for about 25k usd and then opted for the a 5 year gold extended warranty from the dealer for another 5k. So overall was about 30-31k usd. Great purchase overall, a great ammount of space in side and in the trunk (keep in mind im 6'2) but my only real downfall with the car is that i get pretty bad mpg because my heavy traffic stop and go commute plus the suspension while great for cornering and handling really makes you feel the roads imperfections and can be a bit harsh if your not used to low cars. Also the frameless door design can be a downfall too if you plan on parking it outside when it snows. Other than that great car all around. Would also consider and evo x mr or gsr if you're into that scene/car.
Boosted UK car culture is very (what we call) chav tastic. You do get those awesome meets of well done JDM's like I went to on Saturday when they bomb through a tunnel, and then you have some, don't get me wrong, very nice, but pointles supercars parked up in London. But there is just TOO much of the 1.2 16V hatch life with fart cannons and ebay pod filters on the road =(
Tiametmarduk ay ben. 350s are pretty good when it comes to that stuff. my dad had one when they came out in 03. the only problem he had was snow.... and you live in straya so youll be fine.
Great video David! You are part of the reason I got my 2011 5.0 three months ago. It has 66,000 miles on it, and I've been loving every minute driving it!
I think one of the reasons why people ask if you're selling Smurrf is that they are worried about what would happen if you did get rid of it. Think about it, you're known for this car, everybody knows about the Smurrf 'Stang. I love the car. Never sell it, keep it until the wheels fall off of the thing. Keep up with the good work David, you're an amazing individual.
just bought a 98 golf 2.0. had it for 3 days and the exhaust fell off, fixed that, blew 2 tires on the same day, and now i have no 5th gear. Car before that was an 02 focus SVT. Had it for 5 years, went through 3 clutches, 5 water pumps, 7 thermostat housings,2 head gaskets, and a transmission. Was born and bred a Ford man. Love Smuurf! Keep up the awesome reviews!
Mine was a Saabaru 9-2x Aero that was supposed to be my new daily driver but spun a bearing the day after I bought it while being reviewed by a popular TH-camr in Virginia... That was an expensive experience lol. Don't you just love it when the previous owner is a lying asshole?
Ethan Gee I'm in my 4th straight semester with no break at the moment so I haven't been able to do much with it recently. It's still uninsured so I can't drive it but I'll have some time to work on it in the next few weeks.
Wildman As far as turbo and fun the EJ20t is pretty reliable, I racked up 300k on mine with sloppy maintenance and didn't have any drama. Also I hope your comment is tongue in cheek because Saab and reliable = lol
I'm glad that I could see this video. I was not around for the first review. It is also good to hear such details about a car you know well. Nice work.
the feeling of contentment that you talked about is something awesome. I currently have my first car right now /94 integra ls/ and although it has alot of problems with its wheels, engine and interior, I still feel really content with it. its surprisingly reliable and convient. but yea your content is great man! smurff nation
So that's roughly 112,000KM for a 2013 model (sorry, I'm Canadian. Only way I'll understand it) LOL Way to go, David! I don't understand how people can baby their car by driving it to and from work and that's it. Me? I go around the entire province with my car! I love driving. Doesn't matter where to and for how long. The more KM's that rack up on the odometer, the better. I daily a Mazda 3, so I don't really care about resale value because it's gonna need to be scraped anyways with the hell I put it through LOL!
Absolutely crazy how much you, your car, and your videos have come along. Watch this and then watch your vids from when you first got smurf. It's crazy how big the difference is.
Very inspirational! I had a 2014 mustang v6 for only 4 months and I regret not getting the GT but now watching the video make me appreciate my car more and thanks for that
With all the great, cool and crazy cars you drove in your reviews.. don't you have tons and tons of ideas and stuff on own builds? Its amazing to me that somebody like you can just sit in his car and say "yes, its good that way i'm not going to change it" The more cars i see the more i be like "i want to do this, i want to do that..."
It's actually the complete opposite, by driving so many things it let's me learn and "stand on the sidelines" of what I actually don't want to do. Most of the cars on the channel have been huge money pits and many problems. Few are still in the state they still are in when I drove them. But it also shows what I do want to do as well!
That's so true. I got a Foxbody that I bought for $1500, but to make it into something awesome you'd have to spend multiple times the purchase price, and even then something could blow up and cost you more than the car is worth. Reliability is very underrated.
Matthew B lol true but i remembered that he did a lot of travailing. my dad recently gave me his 05 Toyota camry (Stick) and it only has 70,000 miles lol
2014 gt mustang gt premium 174,484 miles... engine and transmission are strong... all new suspension steeda and ford racing upgrade brakes ,rims tires steeeda shifter ,mishimoto radiator ford racing fan.. regular Maintenance replacing rear Axel shafts Seals and bearings had a small leak... overall 9/10 Love driving it Best after market parts mustangs gt!!!!!!!
Unreliable car that has been surprisingly reliable My first car was a 1991 camry but i got bored of it quickly and wanted an upgrade, about a year ago i bought my second car that's now my daily. 2007 mk5 gti dsg, i bought it with 130k miles, not running for $4000, but it seemed like a good deal. It was in my back yard a few months until i had enough money to repair it, lucky all it had wrong was the alternator and i just changed it. Then a few months later it had the stereotypical electrical problems so i just took it to a trusted mechanic and it luckly was just a few fuses that suddenly blew, then i just changed the cv axles and its been running *Knocks on dash* surprisingly well, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!!
IAMJAKETRIMBLE I brought a 2004 gti with 130k on it and before hearing that Rule and I can see why that is. Yes older cars can have some issues but I've been problem free and I race the car and drive it in the winter when it was -10 outside and 6inches of snow. I know my experience isn't typical but several of my vw friends are. In fact I've had better luck than my parents who drive there stock American cars from home to work and both are newer with less miles. Almost 80k less. Plus the body doesn't rust like Japanese or American car. Not to mention the interior is better than a lot of newer American and Japanese cars. My cel only came on once and that was when I blew a coil pack. Maybe mine was just taken care of but I've had good luck with it (knock on wood)
IAMJAKETRIMBLE We have a few 2000-2004 modded Tdi's in the family with 300-450000k on them still going strong. Last thing I did to one was a new fuel filter last year.
I bought a 2005 Chrysler 300C 5.7L Hemi last year. Had nothing but previous owner problems with it. Got that all worked out. Then started to mod it with typical bolt on go fast bits and now its been an amazingly reliable fast monster. Got it dynoed at 355 rwhp and 407lbs of torque. Best car I have ever owned. Blessed to drive it.
ThatDudeinBlue This video is one of the prime reasons why I have so much respect and patience for you. No matter what car you talk about or review, the reasoning/explanation combined with the open set of mind you have honestly makes me feel better. Most people rush things too much or are too narrow sighted to see and enjoy the simple things for what they can be. Thanks man you're awesome. -Wes (:
Coyote Mustang= four-wheel joy dispenser. Very glad to hear you're sticking with Smurf!!! Good call. Your car rocks. 5 years and 24,000 hard miles on my own 2011 GT Brembo/base car (ordered it that way in summer of 2010) and I still can't get enough of it! Suspension/tires/exhaust mods only, still feels quick as hell. MT82 is holding up great. Keep the videos coming!
Jensen Severino-Blas Dude y'all need to get off it, people donated because they wanted to donate even if you don't agree with it and just hate the dude because he isn't whatever you think he should be. Nobody held a gun to anyones head, nobody threatened anyone that if they didn't donate they'd be taught a lesson... Get off of it already, y'all are beating a dead horse... it's going on close to a year now since he did it, kill it already and stop dragging it along.
Jensen Severino-Blas Laugh my fucking ass off. I don't agree with him doing it, and I voiced my opinion back when he did it, but you guys fucking need to let that shit go already. It's so fucking tired, old and done with. I think that was almost a year ago. What sense does it make to keep talking about it like it's some new news? It's so old. No one cares! It's not relevant anymore. "There's Jensen, with yesteryear's news!"
Dmax734 When did he say the Mini is reliable? I remember him saying the opposite. Also the Ecoboost Mustang is awesome. 300bhp, RWD, amazing interior? I don't see a problem with any of that.
Hey David, in case you see this, just wanted to let you know that you always seem to have a way of uplifting my mood and making my day better. Your positive attitude is something that I'm sure a lot of people benefit from and I wanted to thank you for all the awesome videos, both car related and life related. So thanks man!
The car is my second car which I still have. A 2003 Chevy Silverado LS 4x4. Got it a few months ago with half bald and half onion tires. Didn't know about the bad brakes at the time. Got new brakes first, then new tires and a leveling kit. After doing that and putting an aftermarket stereo into it, I now have found out that my AC compressor is bad. Btw, the whole time I also knew( after I bought it) that my transmission is either bad or has dirt in the fluid. Now saving for transmission fix and AC fix. Aside from the problems, I still love my truck. I go out and test it in mud and dirt, drive the crap out of it on turns, work it hard in my job. Sorry for the long response but just want to fully answer your question.
Loving the Smurf! I bought an 02 Audi A6 4.2 with 66k miles on it and had nothing but problems with it. New tranny, multiple problems with the front end, electrical issues, 3 check engine lights, the list just kept going... Was a money pit from the day I bought it til I traded it in 2.5 years later on a 2012 Dodge Charger R/T which I absolutely love! American muscle for me from now on!
So glad to hear someone say they are content with their car with just some simple tasteful mods and has other priorities like spending money on great experiences! Your car is dope the way it is, simple and clean and still badass.Been a long time watcher and subscriber love the videos man keep them coming!
Ford A/C is one of the best, American cars in general have amazing A/C. My 93' Bronco blew ice cold (and that was a POS) and so does my dad's 03' Taurus (another POS).
My first car is a 1992 chevy Silverado Z71. She was sitting and hasn't been started for over a year and she needs transmission work and a tune up but she is a bad truck and I love her. 202,xxx miles and still going strong. Love your video's David.
I bought my first mustang two years ago, it's a 2001 new edge. After a month of me driving it the ecu got messed up so I had to throw 1k into fixing it. Not something I wanted to do to my new car I just spent 4k on. I've done the basic bolt ons since then and haven't had any problems. With 106,xxx miles on it runs strong and I hope it lasts me a few more years until I can get my next car. I'm 'content' with my car right now too David, great video as always.
I'm right there with you, I've got 65,500 on my 2013 gt. Glad to see someone is enjoying their stang just as much! Wish you another happy 70,000 miles my friend, take care!
I got a black on black 06 GT. Just did a coast to coast drive Florida to Cali. Car now has 70k miles No interior rattle 0 problems 100% reliable. Its bulletproof. Got caught in a huge snowstorm and was skating on ice and still made it. (dont try this) Take care of a modern stang and it will never let you down.
Hello David! I'm glad for Smurf being so reliable. My story is 1991 E34 BMW 520. Bought it not so long ago and it is a complete mess. Got it for around 1200$ and good ones cost up to 3-4k$. Mine has problems all around, but i still absolutly love it because despite it's bad condition it has no major issues.
love your attitude, dude... I've thought the same about being content! I'm 24 and bought myself a base 2011 Camaro SS with only an axle-back exhaust with a 6MT. It's -really- all you need. It's incredibly simple, makes maybe 400hp to the rear wheels, and is just a tank. Good to see someone who has the same mentality!
I have 80k on my 2010 camaro ss, and have had 0 issues that was the cars fault. Any issues were caused by me. We bought my fiancé an 08 civic si with low mileage thinking reliability, but it was one of the worst vehicles we've owned. Bought her a low mileage 04 gto, and minus a tire balance problem we thought was suspension related it's been a gem for us! Glad to see your content with your car and enjoying it. In my opinion, experiences in which your car is used(trip, racing event, etc.) is a greater thrill and makes me happier than using the same money to mod the car and not be able to do and go on the experiences! Cheers!
My dads 2011 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon was absolutely horrible, yet my 2005 Grand Cherokee was phenomenal. The wrangler had so many electrical problems. Wipers wouldn't hardly ever work, lights on the left side would turn off randomly, the gauges would mimic the wipers, and the radio/AC presets would never save. Traded it in for the 2012 Ford F-150 and never had an issue with it. Just recently got the new FX4 and it's been fantastic as well. Love your videos David, and can't wait for the 170,000mile video on Smurrf!
Good to hear David that you as well have not had any issues with your Mustang. I also have a 2013 convertible with 75K and I have had only a few minor issues as well.
This guy is not only entertaining to watch, but a wise man. Being content is the true way to a piece of mind. Not complacent, but content. I've spent countless dollars chasing horsepower numbers in the past only to never really achieve the happiness.... Always wanted more. Being content for yourself and not because of what everyone else is doing is the way to be.
My wife and I bought a 2012 GMC Acadia. Fully loaded, top of the line model. $40,000+ dollar car. With 53,000 miles on it the AC stopped working and we started having ECU issues. Traded it in on a Subaru Crosstrek. Couldn't be happier.
Thats something so few people get. the 'being content'. Its always about upgrades and faster and this and that. Theres a great youtube video about a guy with a supra who had that mindset, started with a stock supra 4 years later and countless thousands later he has a car that spends more time in the shop than on the street and is barely driveable, but hey it makes 900whp when it works. I'm not saying theres something wrong with the pursuit of always going bigger, but sometimes its nice to just sit back and be happy with what you have and direct your energies to other things, arguably more important and memorable things. Because when everythings said and done what are you gonna remember? The fact you had a 900whp supra? OR the backing trip across europe you went on with your best friends and all the amazing experiences you had.
I just bought a 91 Nissan Sileighty with an RB25DET and so far it has given me tons of problems. It left me broken down in the middle of the highway more than once due to silly Nissan issues, CAS, MAF sensor and such. When the car has been working its been fun but so far it hasn't quite lived up to my expectations. Hopefully things pan out and I'll learn to love Nissan lol. I bought this car because my 91 CRX SiR, my baby, my pride and joy, was involved in a car accident where insurance bought it off me, I am looking forward to buying it back once all the legal issues blow over. The CRX was my first car and in my 4 years of ownership and modification it never skipped a beat not even on my 800 mile trip to LA. Great gas milage, just the right amount of power, superb handling, my CRX is to this day the best car I've ever owned! P.S. Come visit the west coast! Love the show!
I love how you brought up the word "Content", if only everyone was just a little bit more happy with what they do have instead of looking at the next best thing that they must have. Boy imagine that!
I bought a used VW Passat Wagon. V6 w/5 speed. The engine needed mounts. Headlights were taped on. Abs sensor wires cut and spliced. Exhaust flex pipe had leak putty all over it. I love it. Content I am. I've somewhatfixed the above items. New trans mounts, custom exhaust and lowering coming soon. Oh yes the headliner is all baggy and floppy in the cabin. 😵😵
1994 Miata. This keeps breaking on me, but the smiles I get when it works is so worth it. I have put around 4000 into it already because I didn't get a PPI, but worth it. It will be the track toy in a few years when i get my own place and set in job. The 1966 Mustang will be the project and DD. When the Miata breaks, my 2002 Tahoe takes over, and also does work in winters.
I'm the same as you David, I have a 2000 GT Stang and built it the way I like it, and just stuck with it. It's been 6 months since my last upgrade and it just perfected the car. Also I'm never going to sell it. I love my car and want to keep it forever.
Wow, as the owner of a 2012 5.0, which I ordered brand new, as I wanted it from the factory, (and later installed a few goodies), and drive year round here in NY (3 sets of wheels/tires) I was blown away by how on point you were, especially with the reliability and being content part. Aside from the cheesy plug to get free boost, this was an awesome video, bro!
High school graduation gift to myself was an '08 MKV GTI with 50k miles. Within the first week the valve cover gasket cracked. In week 2, the driver door lock actuator stopped working. Sometime in week 5 I got a CEL for a boost leak, and continued getting CELs over the next 30k miles for the same issue. CV boot has been replaced 3 times. I've had 3 AC compressors. Then those VW FSI engines were known for having cam follower issues--well the cam follower wore out and ruined the cam itself. Both needed replacing. Luckily, I bought an extended warranty when I bought the car. However, I believe about $7,500 in repairs happened between 50k and 90k miles in 2 1/2 years. Fun car, when it works.
Yes maybe. However the down payment and the interest rate sets the monthly payment. Without that money he wouldn't have been able to afford it. Therefore his subscribers bought him it.
This kid is such a troll. I've been seeming him on car videos. Name used to be Dave dun. He is obsessed with Matt Farahs Jewish hog and he sweats him. He also drives a modified ford winstar minivan. He's not a car guy.
I have '17 Mustang GT in Grabber Blue, all motor just basic bolt-ons. Had it for 2 years, the only mechanical issued I've encountered was a defective wheel bearing (which the dealer replaced under warranty) . Regular maintenance, and not abusing the vehicle and it's been very reliable.
Dude, You're going to be at 100,000 miles in no time. As I watch the miles go up on my little 4 cylinder daily in a way i feel glad that i can be sitting here today saying I bought the car for only two grand in great condition and have only done regular oil changes, and a tire a year ago and have gotten to 161,306 as it sits.
My 1992 Camaro Rs was constantly having issues when I first got it. Overheating issues, thermostat didn't work, brake needed to be done etc. The body also needed a little work. After almost two years its starting to come together. Might try and put some videos up soon man. Thanks for the inspiration man
My current car has definitely had a few problems but I still love it. The hand brake wasn't working right so it started rolling away from me at the gas station. My throwout bearing broke in the middle of town on my way to work once. The fuel gauge works...sometimes. But for an 03 mustang with 200k miles I've had more good times in it than bad and it's still my baby.
I bought my first car off my dad, a 1998 Dodge Grand Caravan with 286,000km (about 180,000 miles). After the 1 year bumper to bumper warranty ended in 1999, on this car, we put $3000 in replacing the AC, fuel pump and a bunch of other things. Afterwards it, became a surprisingly reliable (but rusty) car needing only basic maintenance, until I got rid of it last year with 375,000km (almost 240k miles). Driving a '10 Acura TSX 6mt right now
American cars are my favorite, Ford is my favorite. My dad has a 2001 F150 5.4 that he passed down to me & it has over 245,000 miles and only regular service has been done, at the most, an intake manifold & a 4x4 issue. Never had any engine problems, no tranny problems, and it has been abused. Your Mustang is so sick, keep it up !
I respect you and your car so much it's crazy. I drive an '03 ZX3 and I love it, but it's a work in progress to make it a better, more responsive car to drive. I get pushed around all the time at meets when my car barely has 100hp at the wheels, when I believe modest upgrades go a long way! Thanks for all you do and stay awesome!
2013 Dodge Dart Limited, two years old 27k miles on it, engine has a completely damaged cylinder. Just driving the car normally and only bolt on mods. Glad your car came out well for you and that you love it. I did mine as well but hey that stuff happens like you say in your video you don't know anymore because I bought that car directly from the factory with zero miles on it.
Great update. I am leaning toward a 2012/ 2012 5.0. Currently have a 2005 SC GTO (check out the videos). Good point on being at peace with what you got and be careful when it comes to serious power adders (proper tuning, cooling, suspension, braking- dialing it all in). Sometimes the tune can get out of whack due to in-proper fuel and temp. changes and the next thing you are re-doing the tune each year.
I completely agree with you Dave. I don't like selling or trading vehicles. If I buy a vehicle, I plan to keep it well beyond 100 or 200k. I'm not going to get rid of my truck anytime soon, but you are making me seriously contemplate buying a 5.0 Mustang. Keep up the good work dude! You're one of my favorite TH-camrs.
Much like you, I found my self content with my current setup. Subaru wagon for a daily, 03 Mach 1 with bolt ons as my baby. But really wanted to play with something. So, I bought a foxbody... The odometer rolled a couple times, interior shot, but I didn't care. It's my budget build track-day/ autox car. And I'm loving it, but the amount of problems just keeping it running have just been hilarious. But I wouldn't trade it. Too much fun! Keep up the awesome work! Hopefully we'll get to see a build series from u soon! Peace
My 1999 Ford Expedition had 240,000 miles on it and only problems were a drained battery, broken A/C (only blew hot not cold) and like other fords some other electrical issues like windows not rolling down from a broken window motor. Left it outside my house on my driveway and its been sitting for 3 years and i finally decided to get rid of it because I'm moving and first time I turn the key it starts! Crazy how some cars just dont give up!
Just wanted to say you helped me make my decision to buy my coyote with ur 50k mile recap video. I think your channel is awesome and hope to see your car at the American muscle mustang show in two weeks!
Finally someone who thinks the same way as me about cars. If I love my car, I'm gonna keep my car, not trade it in, or get a new one like many other youtubers as you said. Bravo to you!
Worst car I owned was a 2012 Corvette Z06, it wouldn't go a month without some sort of issue, and I had a gasket issue, fuel pump relay issues, and un-even torque distribution, I had more days with the check engine light on than off....but I traded it in for a 15 Stang 5.0 GT and im loving it so far.
Honestly amazing hearing you talk about how to not drop XXX amount of $$ on a car. Really makes me respect you that you can be happy with somthing and not having to throw money at it.
David just wanted to say thanks for the intent and dedication you bring with every video no matter how short or long they can be I can't get enough lol...and dude, smurf is badass!!!...
I think it's awesome how you are content bro. More people should be that way. Just because a car doesn't have a thousand horsepower doesn't mean it's not awesome. Your car is beautiful. Do what makes David happy!
My first car was a '98 Dodge stratus. I did not have it that long. I bought it in '00 and sold it in '03. I lived in South Korea for one of those years that I owned it. It did started to give me a few issues around 70,000 miles. I fixed those sudden engine issues and sold it. I now have an IS300 (one of four cars that I dreamed of owning), and a Veloster Turbo. The IS is my project (I feel like a kid) car, and the Veloster is my reliable ( I feel like an actual adult) car. I am impress with the IS300. Lexus builds them well. This thing is at 267,000ish miles and the engine/ trans is still holding. It's been around US/ Europe. The Veloster hasn't proved itself yet. I just hit 17,000 miles on it.
My grandma bought a 2002 Ford Explorer that started out as a piece of crap. Some sensor that involved the 4x4 system broke so it went from a full time 4x4 to just a RWD. This occurred during one of the worst winters in my state's history. A year later the ECU went to shit and left us stranded 100 miles away from home. We had the most expensive tow truck bill ever. We even considered leaving it. After that it suffered electrical gremlins. My grandma refused to give it away and I'm glad she didn't. It's been over 5 years since it's broke down. It has over 150K miles and still runs really great. The 4.6L V8 still pulls, it shifts smoothly, and drives comfortably.
I have a 1988 Mustang LX. Bought it from a guy in Pueblo. Absolutely fell in love with it(I've always wanted a Foxbody) but the thing has had tons of issues. And I've dumped tons of money into just simple maintenance stuff. And some performance stuff here and there. But let me tell you I wouldn't trade the car for anything else in the world. Something about taking this car that has been neglected for so long and giving it love and affection, aka money, has been so much fun. That's worth every penny to me.
I got a 97 Pontiac sunfire GT for pretty much free... Being an automatic I wasn't incredibly thrilled but hey its free. 2 years later at 147000 miles with some basic maintenance, and replacing brake lines. It hasn't had any major issues and I feel comfortable driving anywhere because its never let me down.
OMG OMG OMG FINALLY A UPDATE ON PAPA SMURRF!!,, To answer your question. My 2006 durango, bought it with 100k on it and within 2 weeks the motor gave out. BUT she is up and running again with another motor lol
I agree with you on the content part, we all want to do more upgrades to our car but we need to learn to enjoy our cars in their current state. I enjoyed the video! Keep it up man!
I had a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee (V6 Laredo 4x4) and traded it back in march for a 2015 that was the exact same trim level. The 2012 was bought new and had 36,000 miles when I traded it in. I had all sorts of issues with it. I now have 5,000 miles on the 2015 and it is doing much better!
In 09 we had a kid so I bought an 06 AWD trailblazer ss. Lots of fun and very fast for an suv. That being said, it was in the shop more than any other vehicle I've ever owned. Nothing but problems. Mostly electrical. But I do miss it.
you're such an awesome dude, david! so down to earth. keep it real buddy! coming from an owner of a '13 manual 3.7 grabber blue mustang and i love it :)
I just hit 70,000 miles in my 2013 the other day! I've got a few interior rattles that have grown louder, probably from the 2 accidents it's been in. It's still a solid car though. As long as I keep it regularly maintained, it'll last forever!
David, I seriously respect you for just being content with your car and not wanting more and more, as a viewer, and someone that looks up to you, that's a really respectable trait to have.
We need more people like him. Instead of being pressured to boost a car and other mods, why cant people just be happy with what they have?
Yes! I completely agree!
Pablo Rodriguez Because losing to a faster car on the interstate is never fun
+iCool247 there will be always a faster car on the streets or track but or me i will not going to waste 50% of my salary on a car just to make it more faster unless of course if you have money and a second car to toy around with
iCool247 Not everyone wants to race. Being a car enthusiast can also mean to love cars and owning one.
90,000 miles on my 2012 5.0 and not one problem........
I though but you said 2015 at first haha!
Did u ever hear the engine tick from your car that is happening with some coyotes?
James yes I do hear a little engine tick
Bernard Boone Probably just time for a simple valve adjustment and it will go away.
scuds03 thinking hard about trading it for a new 5.0,or new ss camaro......I love the fact that the camaro comes with wide wheels from the factory
SMUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRF nation.
Stay awesome!
***** he's a person!
Are you coming to the Woodward dream cruise this year. It would be amazing to meet you in person.
Put white rims on it
David you used my music, on a video of the Smurf, no less... I'm honoured!
- Salutes
- Wipes manly tear from eye
You're awesome.
U deserve more
70k miles in two years? God damn David. Where have you been traveling to.
Robert Torres Gotta count the Rally North America film and also the Ohio Valley films. Lots of miles there.
ThatDudeinBlue you know you just killed the resale value. OH well right? LOL
Respect David! That's what cars are meant for to drive
Not putting miles on your car to save the resale price is like not having sex with your girlfriend to keep her more appealing for the next guy !
Dude, omg I've really been watching you for so long?! How time flies lol.
It's not that long he drives a lot lol
Cornwall1888 i know but its been over 2 years. didnt even notice that much time has passed
Jermaine Simpson wait when you see your comments 4 years old! i didn't know time was this quick.
What year? I've bee digging the 6 speed coupes lately, might buy one
Would also consider and evo x mr or gsr if you're into that scene/car.
agreed!! i got the e92 zsp and i couldnt be happier. The car has the perfect balance of a daily driver and semi sports car
Still looking and running better than half the crap in the UK, you need to come down one time and say hi to us British folk! :D
The fuel prices would give him a stroke.
Boosted Crazy to see you around these comments :)
OddDrifting I'm always somewhere on David's videos ;)
Boosted how much is gas there? in gallons plz :P
Boosted UK car culture is very (what we call) chav tastic. You do get those awesome meets of well done JDM's like I went to on Saturday when they bomb through a tunnel, and then you have some, don't get me wrong, very nice, but pointles supercars parked up in London. But there is just TOO much of the 1.2 16V hatch life with fart cannons and ebay pod filters on the road =(
Being content, a lesson alot of people never learn. Good job ThatDudeinBlue your car looks awesome! Keep up the good videos!
airinvasion123 I said the same thing. Content.
Bravo good sir
Scrolled through the entire comments section to see if anyone had problems with their 350z. Don't think I saw any, yesssssss.
When are you getting it Ben?
Tiametmarduk My friend just sold his and his only problem was the 14mpg he was getting and his speeding tickets.
Tiametmarduk most commentors are smart enough to not buy one
Tiametmarduk ay ben. 350s are pretty good when it comes to that stuff. my dad had one when they came out in 03. the only problem he had was snow.... and you live in straya so youll be fine.
Tiametmarduk They have problems with oil consumption and starvation, so watch for that.
Great video David! You are part of the reason I got my 2011 5.0 three months ago. It has 66,000 miles on it, and I've been loving every minute driving it!
9:15 I feel exactly the same! The 5.0 is the perfect fun street car. First car I'm completely 100% content with.
I know 99% of the people won't see this but
Hi 1%
Hi
DGZ Music Hey there!
Hi
Hi
Sup
just bought a 98 golf 2.0. had it for 3 days and the exhaust fell off, fixed that, blew 2 tires on the same day, and now i have no 5th gear.
Sending a lot of feels your way, how's the saabaru doing?
Ethan Gee
I'm in my 4th straight semester with no break at the moment so I haven't been able to do much with it recently. It's still uninsured so I can't drive it but I'll have some time to work on it in the next few weeks.
I know how you feel, my car is sat on the driveway uninsured, cant afford it at the moment:( hopefully be able to get it on the road soon!
MAEguy hahahaha
Wildman As far as turbo and fun the EJ20t is pretty reliable, I racked up 300k on mine with sloppy maintenance and didn't have any drama. Also I hope your comment is tongue in cheek because Saab and reliable = lol
I'm glad that I could see this video. I was not around for the first review. It is also good to hear such details about a car you know well. Nice work.
"it has worked every time, except 2 times!" reminded me of "60% of the time, it works everytime" lol
Edgar Garcia Yes hahaha
It's a great fragrance.
the feeling of contentment that you talked about is something awesome.
Hey im canadian too!
Daniel Collins Toronto, ON. You?
***** Do you find an excuse too drive your car anywhere? I drive my brz everywhere, fukk the miles its not a ferrari f40 that is a gem.
FAINTEN17 I drive man. When people ask "Where are you going?" I tell them "To have fun." I never make excuses.
***** Greetings from the maritimes!
Absolutely crazy how much you, your car, and your videos have come along. Watch this and then watch your vids from when you first got smurf. It's crazy how big the difference is.
Alright man....You got to answer this....
Did you beat that Audi R8?......
Yep
CarsAndCompetitions yes he did, it was the v8 version though so they were pretty much matched for power.
Ethan Gee but still it had guattro
CarsAndCompetitions Lets race Patterson! Green is the faster color.....
Konstantinos Prouskas do you mean Quattro? and explain to me what Quattro means without a google search.
Its amazing to me that somebody like you can just sit in his car and say "yes, its good that way i'm not going to change it"
The more cars i see the more i be like "i want to do this, i want to do that..."
ThatDudeinBlue How has the GTI with the apr tune holding up? I was looking into that but wasn't sure about reliability?
Czech117 A VW is very hard to break mechanically and render it undriveable.
I've had my 2013 gt for almost 10 years and i still come back to this video
How the hell do you already have 70,000 miles on a 2013?
Matthew B He drives cross country a LOT.
Matthew B He likes driving his car, duh
Matthew B he said he drives across the country a lot
Matthew B Easily. My 2014 Duramax has 90,000 miles and all of our older farm trucks have around 300,000- 400,000 miles.
What type of oil ?
Unreliable car that has been surprisingly reliable
My first car was a 1991 camry but i got bored of it quickly and wanted an upgrade, about a year ago i bought my second car that's now my daily.
David Morales Rule for buying used VW's if you dont want to dump money into them: If it's over 100K or 10 years, don't buy it lol.
Maybe mine was just taken care of but I've had good luck with it (knock on wood)
rrodfixrguydude can't* not can at the top. Lol sorry
IAMJAKETRIMBLE well, im happy with my purchase bc for 4500$ i got a 2007 GTI that runs with no problem at all, and is pretty fun to drive too
IAMJAKETRIMBLE We have a few 2000-2004 modded Tdi's in the family with 300-450000k on them still going strong.
Hey David. Does the GT Mustangs have a LSD stock?
sasajungic89 Yep! No one wheel peelin'
I think he's best in reviewing modified cars... It's his signature and what his channel is known for.
sasajungic89 The 2015 Mustang GT does now.
Oops wrong comment sorry
sasajungic89 All 2011+ Mustangs have LSDs as standard
ThatDudeinBlue This video is one of the prime reasons why I have so much respect and patience for you. No matter what car you talk about or review, the reasoning/explanation combined with the open set of mind you have honestly makes me feel better. Most people rush things too much or are too narrow sighted to see and enjoy the simple things for what they can be. Thanks man you're awesome. -Wes (:
Hi David
Coyote Mustang= four-wheel joy dispenser. Very glad to hear you're sticking with Smurf!!! Good call. Your car rocks.
5 years and 24,000 hard miles on my own 2011 GT Brembo/base car (ordered it that way in summer of 2010) and I still can't get enough of it! Suspension/tires/exhaust mods only, still feels quick as hell. MT82 is holding up great.
Keep the videos coming!
+subaruwrxfan watch this video you can learn from it. Gofundme won't teach you anything.
You guys are still on that Gofundme campaign crap? It was like 8 months ago... It's so old now...
Jajaja the subaruwrx didnt bought a ecoboost stang , his followers gave him money to bought the car
So thanks man!
dude you're sweating are u nervous? lol jk i know the AC is off. This is my favorite model mustang by the way those tail lights are sex.

300zx, it looks miles better and you will find much better cars that havent been owned by drift retards
The car jerks hardwhen you shift lol... Get an auto
That's the dumbest shit I ever heard lmfao. You're the type to say "automatic is life"
That's because you can't drive stick for shit.
So glad to hear someone say they are content with their car with just some simple tasteful mods and has other priorities like spending money on great experiences! Your car is dope the way it is, simple and clean and still badass.Been a long time watcher and subscriber love the videos man keep them coming!
Does his AC not work?? Lol
AC blows into the microphone.
RAJohnson713 go away
Ford A/C is one of the best, American cars in general have amazing A/C. My 93' Bronco blew ice cold (and that was a POS) and so does my dad's 03' Taurus (another POS).
Alvin Rohani My 95 Ranger (POS) blows ice cold. In fact, my heater takes longer to get warm than my AC takes to blow cool.
AC is for pussies
David! Ive been with your channel the whole way man! Keep being awesome!
I'm the same as you David, I have a 2000 GT Stang and built it the way I like it, and just stuck with it. It's been 6 months since my last upgrade and it just perfected the car. Also I'm never going to sell it. I love my car and want to keep it forever.
I sometimes wonder about the new generation this days but not after listening to this guy...you make a lot of sense buddy. Nice 5.0!
Atleased he paid for it himself unlike subaruwrxfan! Mad props to u david
Why is everyone mad about it? He only got 5K
Danny Contreras That's a pretty fat down payment for his 25-30 grand car.
But he paid the rest it's not like they paid everything
Pretty much same story with my 2012. 80k miles, no problems and loving every minute of it!!
Contentment... rare these days, you are blessed. Refreshing video.
Excellent video. Very down to earth. It's refreshing to see a person who can put things into perspective and show people how to value what they have.
I like these kinds of videos where you just talk to us. Yeahbi love the reviews but the vlogs and stuff like this is what i watch dozens of times tbh
I said the word "contentment" right along with you. So true. Finally getting to that place myself. What a relief
