      I think it might be because once medical personnel enter the court it starts all the timers for medical time out - which you only get a limited number of in a match - so they have to sort of assess whether they need to go on otherwise they could influence the game unfairly

    One thing that does come across in these clips is that medical personnel in pro tennis are extremely slow to react to a player getting injured. Most clips have the other player or the ball boy/girl standing staring at the player for a minute or two before anyone else thinks it might be a good idea to react.

      Couldn't find whether Benneteau tore something, but yeah his foot looked very similar, but it came down flat and then went over. Zverev's went from toes down and went from there to the 90 degree thing. Benneteau must not have torn anything, whereas Zverev tore multiple lateral ligaments.

  • @8Clips
    @8Clips 3 ปีที่แล้ว +43

    I've done Benneteau's one a couple of times, once really badly just stepping off a raised legde. Tore a bunch of ligaments and tendons across the top of my foot in the process and couldn't put weight on it for a week, couldn't walk without limping for probably a month. Doctor took one look at it when I turned up at A&E and said he wouldn't be surprised if it was broken. Was lucky that it wasn't.
    Watching Benneteau there makes me absolutely recoil, I know how bad that can be, absolute respect for trying to carry on, when I did it I couldn't find the will to even try to stand up.

    For those who don’t know, the ones that look questionable, mostly where the player just falls over, is just because of cramps. I’ve personally had those before during a match and I’ve fallen over, it’s truely uncontrollable. And it’s because these guys plays huge and long games, with players who get further in the draw will play consecutively over a week

    This was uploaded on my birthday. March 13. Thanks for the upload. It happens when tennis players get injured in their lives during the game. Things happen here sometimes in the world. Once or three times in every month during the tennis season. I’m Pisces reacting to this video, those injuries were tough to recover. What I just saw a tennis player twisted that ankle so fast, that it would end a player’s career. Oof. 😑

    10:52 - I used to slap myself in the face as a diver at 14-15 in high school every single time that I didn’t do a dive well and this reminds me of that. The new swim/dive team coach that came in my sophomore year was amazing and explained that nobody can be perfect at all times and to give myself grace when I messed up. He was able to get through to me after 2 years of me “punishing” myself for “not preforming well enough”. I started showing myself grace and stopped slapping myself after messing up and even eventually found humor in messing up during practice, which was great! He would always say before the major State competitions that no matter the outcome, he was incredibly proud of me. That was what I needed to hear in that time and it left a lasting impact on me.

    • @LordAbhor
      @LordAbhor หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AveryWeinstein you Americans are too emotional and soft. Just ket the players express the good anger. You needed someone to tell you that he's proud of you to stop "punishing" yourself!!! When I miss a shot I often slap my quad as hard as I can so that next time my legs do a better job and it often works. Anyway, don't take it personal.

      It was because of the holes in the court. Basically the clay court was uneven and had little patches of uneven surface. I remember it because juan monaco got injured the same way in an earlier round.
      This was what annoyed me with Nadal and djokovic cause they were so vocal with the blue courts but didnt say anything about the bad courts of monte carlo.

    Hang on, Benneteau does his ankle...and still tries to carry on?! Ankle-twisting was practically a hobby of mine as a kid, did both about 10 times each, and every single time I've thought I'd never walk properly again. Couldn't watch the snap itself here, I just know how it feels, you get that sickness in your stomach and the pain is unlike any other - not necessarily a worse pain, but a much different kind of pain. I can't believe he carried on. If anyone asks how much players love the sport, show them that. That's incredible.

    • @swissuz

    I was watching some of 2023 Roland Garros games the previous days and I wondered why this Lacoste commercial has to be inside the tennis court, with big probability to cause an injury to the players. I didn't know that already caused injury in the past (Nicolas Mahut in the first video). In another tournament (I don't remember which one) was a car of the sponsors inside the court witt a big chance to cause an injury. It seems that in some cases the organizers do not care if the players will get injured
