I remember when Bengalis were first released there was a bug where if you set off a volley of Ratha Arrows and switch to melee before the arrows would land the arrows would do melee damage instead of ranged damage.

About the Bengali civ design it's based on the Pala dynasty who used the outdated chariots and elephant heavy army. That's why their army is a bit slow. In the medieval age though their army composition is quite similar to the Hindustanis and Turks.

Very good to know, thank you... but am wondering though. As I actually find it comes up a lot with games about history, rather than words in science fiction (which are largely made up or well-altered words). But what about historical pronunciations, I always think it's awesome to get that glimpse of modern understandings of the past - particularly from those who are most/well acquainted with any particular period, event or thing. But I'd love to always have that historical aspect too.
I remember being in University and moving in with 2 friends who had 4 upstairs rooms, one of which was coming vacant. The other three room-mates I eventually had upstairs were all Korean & I remember getting into discussions with one of them about Korea and its history (part of it was thanks to this game in its original form 2 decades ago which lead me on a research frenzy at times). We got to discussing the Turtle Ships at one point and I used a modern term/title in Korean for them. But we got to a short discussion about their original name & form & so on - where we didn't have the information.
It was unfortunate, but events like this I still cherish... and I have always found myself loving the stories, histories & general creativity or nuance within games. If ever possible I'd love for people to throw out more of the histories or tit-bits of information (that seem relatively or quite corroborated) about things in this and other games. Whether from a modern or historical perspective, because - we have already lost so much history... I enjoy the idea of preserving it even in small & personable ways.
I for example spell a lot of words with -our suffixes (e.g. creatour) in English.
      But again, thanks thanks.

They are in the game as unconstructable buildings. You could talk about their history and how they would fit compared to the current Wonders (anachronisms, how they fit in, or maybe even about what Wonders make sense or not and what Wonders could be exchanged for ones that more relevant to the time period, like the Slavic Kizhi Pogost).

The monk bonus is so good, a scout will be converted before being able to kill the monk as long as the monk starts the conversion before the scout sees the monk (6 range) as long as the monk. If the monk has sanctity they might even be able to convert light cavalry depending on when the conversion starts. Bengalis have had an high win rate on arena in Titans League because of this.

The original word is Ratha (Ra-tha as you rightly pointed out) in Sanskrit, from which this word got borrowed into other languages. Many modern north Indian languages (like Hindi for instance) leave out the 'a', hence some confused folks would have misguided Spirit of the Law.

    • @animejuggernaut2553

@@srinathravi2207 Really? That's fascinating to know! I knew the 'a' is pronounced in the original Sanskrit version and i think most south Indian languages keep it (Kannada and Telugu for instance), so i thought that whoever told him might not have known. Tho, most of the north ppl i'm friend with also pronounce the 'a', so maybe i'm just not familiar.

They definitely take some getting used to as you can't simply play using the knight line or foot archer line, but any civ which forces you to play differently is a bit more fun. They aren't labelled as a monk civ but that is definitely one of their strengths also.

Okay since it's a newer video... I have to ask... WHY is it that farms seem all over the place (to an extent) once you get beyond most directly adjacent plots (10:04-10:22)?
I just am finishing up Liereyy & Ganji in Titan's League & there was the fun jokey stuff about house-rotions (20:05-21:20)... and I thought you could always rotate houses, but maybe I'm thinking of a similar game where I O.C.D.ed my bases! :)
But back to farms - why isn't the one in the time-stamp 2 slots to the North-East? Is it mostly just A.P.M. meaning time focussing/organisation leads to a slightly more inefficient farm placement? That always seems like the biggest factor for me... either that or AoE players are just - well despite having siege workshops, castles, wonders alongside the chemistry & siege engineers technologies, nobody who plays it is an actual engineer or knows basic physics as in geometry (2-dimensional physics/maths)!

1:45 So, Bengalis have Sicilian Elephants?
6:30 Maybe Comparing it to a knight was a mistake? What if it is actually a Cavalry Archer, with a buffed Scout Cavalry Mode?
That would fit better with it keeping the Cavalry Archer Weakness. And it should compare better in durability to a Scout Cavalry.
    - overall the civilisation is very late and team-game focussed.
    - the extra villagers help you tech up earlier or at least have a better economy in later ages
    - surviving the early game is the big issue.

How to buff Bengalis: give them Hussar (they don't have kts, at least make them have FU Hussars like the Hindustanis), give Rathas more CA armor (that special armor that protects you from bonus dmg) and make them faster (they are already more fragile than kts, why make them slower than them? maybe change Ratha's speed to 1.4 from the 1.3 it has), and maybe and I say MAAAAAAAAAAAAYBE give them thumb ring.

I play them exclusively online and let me tell you, the lack of mobility is a serious issue for map control. Lack of a solid cavalry unit really hurts. Raths are somewhat of an option but due to expense and weakness to skirms, I found that they dont do too well as a castle age raiding unit.

  • @TalabAlSahra

How do Rath Chariots fair against elite skirmishers when in melee range? I get they have a bonus at range, but skirmishers have minimum range that could be hard countered by their melee mode.

    • @teddyhaines6613
      @teddyhaines6613 ปีที่แล้ว

Rathas still generally won't survive to get into melee range against the skirmishers, who can kite backwards to keep on firing despite the minimum range. And remember you're also trading expensive gold units for trash. You're much better off adding light cav or your own skirmishers to deal with the problem.
