So excited for you Caleb and like I told you last night, really proud of you for living your truth and best life. You made it happen. This is an unforgettable and most remarkable experience of a lifetime!! Your smile says it all 😁🙏🏼🥾
20 miles with ear to ear grin, amazing views, and the epic beard of woodchuck are nothing to apologize for. Keep this attitude and when and if that subsides embrace it and get back to the reason you are doing this. It's all about perspective. Because you compare this to your time in the military is no reason to apologize. It means you have the ability to compartmentalize and that my friend will play a huge role in your success on this journey. Eddie
Great first day. It's an accomplishment just to get to the start. All the planning, work scheduling, training, back repair,...etc. Most people cannot ever put that all together to dedicate almost a half year for this pioneering adventure. I hope you enjoyed that water source at 3:09, and there should be more to come. In past PCT seasons water in section A & B has always been an issue. Carrying 6-8 liters of water, or "relying" on potential trail angel water cache has been typical. So, without that worry you can easily save 10-15 lbs of pack weight. I think you definitely felt the first day adrenaline experience, but make sure you pay close attention to Mr.backspiney. As you know, joint type pains don't manifest until the next day or so. Keep on.
Hey Marmalade here, stoked to see you on trail and great job on day one! Burger was amazing right? Wait until you get one at PVC. Hey a little tip, on your thumbnails you may want to number them with either Day 1 right below the pct logo (this is what I do) or Ep. 1 because trust me from personal experience. Once you have a ton of videos you will have a hard time know in which order they are and it helps if you want to watch a certain day later on. It will also help you for those of us that enjoy watching you to make it easier to know what day we’re looking for next. Just a thought but again great job!
What camera are you bringing on trail? I’m trying to figure out your clip set up to hook your trigger. Is this how you are taking yr camera on trail. I’m trying to figure out my system. Do you bring any filters etc along?
Yes, 100% the PCT mile for mile was gorgeous. My favorite part was all of Washington I couldn’t help but stop and just stare sometimes in disbelief of the northern cascades
Great editing! Will you or Jacqui be posting/editing your videos in the future? Do you have Starlink? And I can't wait to see your photos of the super bloom. Enjoy the day. Every step is amazing.
This is all edited from my phone so apologies for the mediocre edits y’all 😅

Thank you brotha I appreciate it! Yes I’ll get them numbered such a good point it’ll just keep ‘em more organized!

I have a Canon 90d and I highly recommend you look at the Peak Design camera clip it’s amazing! I don’t have any filters just one 18-135mm lens
Are you starting with micro spikes and an ice axe?
Just crampons going to grab the axe in paradise valley cafe
I felt the same excitement when I started the AT In 2019. Do you recommend the pct. What was your favorite part of the hike?
Yes, 100% the PCT mile for mile was gorgeous. My favorite part was all of Washington I couldn’t help but stop and just stare sometimes in disbelief of the northern cascades

Now that’s a solid idea lol I edit all these from my phone but Jacqui could learn a new skill 😂
😉
That was a Rubber Boa! They get pink tails because rodents bite them when they try to eat their babies. Love the journey!
That’s so interesting! I was wondering what type it was I’ve seen quite a few
Life is about the journey and not the destination…
100% 🤝
I'll take a thru hike over Any deployment lol
Hahah 100% agreeed there!
He doesn't carry water?! Good Lord!
He’s built different
@@HitTheTrailJack Yeah. He's like a camel 🐫
