fyi, most metal concerts can seem most brutal to those who don’t understand it, but it’s really just people getting letting loose and having fun. yes, there is pushing and shoving, but if anyone falls, most of the time they help you get back to your feet. (although common, not always the rule, some people are just assholes)
People wouldn't believe how many metal concerts we go to where the music before and between bands is usually music like backstreet boys and the crowd goes wild for it every time.
R.I.P Joey Jordanson!!!! One of the best drummers of the modern day and in history. He was a treasure to the Metal world.

Sorry, I'm usually good about not commenting until the end of a video, but I tend to jump the gun with Slipknot lol. There's actually a wonderful phenomenon at metal concerts where they're genuinely quite safe...I've seen situations where someone has a medical emergency in the middle of a metal concert mosh pit where the person is literally crowd-surfed to safety without question. Metal concerts are an interesting phenomenon where everyone is there because they feel like the outcast that the music resonates with, and are thus some of the nicest people you will ever meet, and genuinely care for and about every single person around them. ❤ It's genuinely a wonderful community.

I'm pretty sure that like Daft Punk and Deadmau5 from the edm world, the masks were due to stage fright and just became iconic. I know one thing that amazes me is the lead singers ability to scream, but then also sing these gorgeous choruses.

My dad did security for slipknot during ozzfest, and my dad asked why they wear the masks and Corey (singer) said when they were not playing they were in the mosh pit and people didn’t know there was slipknot members in the pit

The lyrics are great, and let me tell you what, this stuff is dope to listen to at the gym. The masks are a part of their inner identity, like an inner totem pole. The masks have change a bit over time. There was a ton of parents talking about how heavy metal is evil, so they were like, “shit, hold my beer”

If you listen, really listen to the lyrics, they are all about depression, pain (emotional and physical), their lyrics are deeper than you would realise. The masks allow them to become different people on stage. Slipknot songs are deeper, and cover more versus what is immediately obvious. Duality, The Devil in I, Unsainted, Snuff, Vermillion (1 & 2), to name a few are amazing. Nero Forte - the lyrics... wow! It's a real rabbit hole. Welcome.
