Imagine coming to this country and working as an illegal immigrant only to become the richest American in the world and run the presidency - the way Elon musk has.
@ he was in an interview years ago with his brother where his brother was saying you know technically we were illegal. And Elon tried to move the subject along.
@ and you're saying all of this is so normal then? This makes it even more ridiculous. He's living the South African dream. From small diamond mine family in South Africa to adviser to the leader of the free world, $500,000,000,000 and many companies in between. People wouldn't believe any of this even if it was a movie. The only thing left is for Elon to get anti aging space water and become the real iron man and Thanos in one.
It's a bit cringe, how he writes, he wants to hire "real" Americans, and meanwhile he is an illegal immigrant. As if he wants to be part of a club he never will belong to. As if he was an awkward highschool boy who dreams of being one of the popular kids, and pretends to be part of the group. He is a hypocrite, and it's sad. Also he is a liar. He doesn't want to hire "real" americans, because they want more money. Elmo doesn't want to pay high, or even average wages. Just look at Tesla. They pay way less than the competition and lose talent. So imo for him it's about getting cheap labor, talented people, to work for his companies. He wants to be able to fire and replace every person who demands hire wages without having to worry about finding talented people who are willing to work for such few money, and he can find them in other countries. I bet he wants to get rid of more regulations so he can hire globally. Btw that's a huge problem, because that's how a lot of chinese spies come to America. Elmo should know that, but he doesn't care. He doesn't care about "real" Americans or America. He cares about having more money. I think, that's obvious. He wants to bring people from all over the world in to drive wages down, at least in the tech industry, while agitating against other immigrants, because it's popular, and he wants to be a popular boy. Imo it really shows, he is a hypocrite. People are willing to pay more to support local businesses. Elmo isn't from America, he just collects money in America, and he isn't willing to pay more for american labor, and I hope, at least some of his fans wake up to this obvious fact 🤷♂️
Since the school system is funded through property taxes which vary widely based on location, school in richer neighborhoods have more resources at their disposal. It's the intersection of class and race.
That's part of the problem. There's a mindset in silicon valley to hire only "top" people, thinking therefore get people with PhDs and Masters. But at least in the world of software there are many aspects of big projects that could be done by talented, non-degreed, trained (or self-taught) programmers. Back in the 60s/70s it was very common for companies to hire people & teach them programming - that's never done anymore (yes, it costs money & time). The "shortage" could be alleviated a bit by an expanded mindset in hiring.

I have spent my life working overseas. In some countries the advantage the employer has over me is that my visa is tied to the employer. So of course bargaining and saying no can be harder. For example losing the job could mean must leave the country on short notice, as in a week or two, or be breaking the law. Not saying this is how it is in the USA, I don't know the rules in USA, but it has been my experience in some countries. In some countries my visa has been linked only to the role. In those countries I can transfer the visa to a new employer, as long as the job is the same exact role ( skill shortage ). In this situation you have more freedom and ability to negotiate or say no to overtime for instance or what your role intails.

I am against Tech billionaires deciding the fate of the world and not giving anyone else a say in how to implement or regulate AI. But for that matter, I'm also against Elon Musk and his world view of efficiency and exploitation being forced on America as well. If you think Elon Musk is a healthy, well-rounded individual, go look at his family relationships and his kids. That says a lot about a man
Aussie here...Hollywood came to Australia to make films...we had a new wave of talented actors. We had new ideas, energy and a Progressive government that supported Creative Industry That is how it works.
In my opinion...They, MAGA people, would challenge Elon too much if employed in his companies. I think, he'll hire more educated liberal dems, because they tend to be more respectful as employees. And they're generally smart, kind, and efficient workers.
We used to make ten to twelve feature films in San Francisco pre-NAFTA. Now, they come in with a small crew to film some exterior beauty shots then they fly back to Vancouver. I have worked on stages with union kids who just thought it'd be fun to emigrate from Canada through the film union... As if there was a labor shortage post NAFTA.
What Musk gets wrong, we have the engineers to work in the tech community, problem is the CEOs aren't willing to pay them for the jobs. Sorry its expensive to live in Silicon Valley, it was Musk and other Tech CEOs that decided to eliminate remote work so the engineers can work in an area they can afford to live in.
When you look at Elon Musk and his relationships and the relationship he has with his kids, you can see he's a horrible person. Money and efficiency aren't the end all. And he is not a healthy, well rounded individual. I don't want him making America's decision decisions for us

Pareto Principle, 80/20 rule. 80% of the output is done by 20% of the producers. This is every office/work environment. The top will always be rewarded regardless of where they live. Good engineers are expensive. Bad engineers are even more expensive.
It is also a bit stupid. If 80% of the staff are required to do 20 % of the work why don't you just stop doing that 20 % and operate a bit smaller at higher earnings? Answer cos it is not true 80% of the money comes from 20 % of the work load but you only get that 20 % because you can also do the other 80%. It is a business management tool to assess profitably but it is a guide not an iron law.
I will say it again: Elon is looking for someone to fund his projects. Trump & most Republicans are going to give him that. America has very smart & great engineers.
Trump is now pushing for no taxes on overtime. The issue with this is that they want to shift the overtime threshold from 40 hours per week to 160 hours per month. At first, this may seem appealing, but the problem is that employers like Musk could exploit this by overworking you during the first three weeks and six days of the month, then only asking for one more hour on the last day. Essentially, this would result in no real overtime pay.
Here is what happened to me personally - I was tasked with training 'young and inexperienced' engineers from foreign countries or fresh college graduates. Not sure what kind of talents they referred to. There are many companies in Silicon Valley practice high-tech slavery in the name of saving cost. The best engineers I meet most of the time are home-grown engineers who can think critically.

Chris, a comment on work-life balance - during the pandemic i struck a deal with my company to go on permanent remote and left the country. Where i live now, my US salary can afford me an elite life. And guess what? Im ALWAYS by my phone, and ready to answer an email. I love my job, despite having hated it when i was living in the states. The takeaway here? If you pay your employees a wage on which they can live comfortably, they will enjoy their work, and do a better job. If a citizen cant even afford a 1br flat on their wage, WHY would they even bother?

I could be wrong, but I think that's a pretty hefty amount above the over all inflation rate over that same period of time.

The problem is the hiring process.... that's it. They prioritize things that are prioritized in Indian education, like memorization. There are a TON of good engineers in America, but we teach them to be out of the box thinkers and don't just teach them to be good test takers ... and.... it shows. The innovation has gone down in silicone valley because we reward memorization and not innovative thinking. Some of that, is intentional. Out of the box thinkers are GREAT at making competitors, while memorization will just create people who do what they're told.
We have to emigrate medical doctors. We do not have enough education to do the job. We benefit largely from the immigrants from Indian and African countries. Most of my MDs are from India and Africa in the US South. Americans do not want to work as doctors in the US South with the lower pay. This is not to say these doctors are not educated, they receive MBBS, a British form of education. I think these doctors can deal with the heat and the cultural representation of the South. It also works out well since there are people from their population. For example, I have two doctors from Nigeria in two different states - Mississippi and Alabama. They both went to high school together. I met them both by chance. Southerners can get top-notch medical care without having to go North. We may have to go to other southern states but it is better than going to see Yanks! (I'm just kidding.) By the way, my ancestors are Nepalese immigrants brought over as indentured servants.
Thank you for speaking the truth
This Canadian observes that America has what I refer to as a "checkerboard education system". It can be very good, and very bad.
Since the school system is funded through property taxes which vary widely based on location, school in richer neighborhoods have more resources at their disposal. It's the intersection of class and race.
True.
Nobody is getting an engineering job as an autodidact with no bachelors degree. Not happening.
A bachelor's qualifies you to be a good salesman. You'll understand what the customers are talking about.
Autodidact sounds to me like a robot that rams anyone up the ass who bends over in its presence. Keep it away!! lol
Says your universities... gee I wonder why they say that?
@@Tony-h2z9x - Probably because it's true. Professions take education, not on the job training. You have to learn the hard stuff or you're just giving an uninformed opinion. Everyone has one of those.
Yep... It's always about money...
That’s why it’s called capitalism 😂 there’s also communism about the community 😅 might be the better system but got played by capitalism so far - maybe worth another try without being cheated on 😅 money broke most societies trying out other systems than capitalism, but sadly there’s a self proclaimed capitalist system ruling the system 😂 will be a hard challenge to make it livable for everyone.
An old friend of mine was, then, a top brick layer. Brick layers get paid per thousand bricks laid. My fried was paid £800 per day. However he had to pay his 'second' who mixed the morter. But he did well. Earning £3,000 per week. He was very good.
Your top bricklayer friend was also an employer, employing a 'second'
Makes sense, a 2nd to mix mortar so you can stay in flow putting stuff down is key to doing tile fast too.
That says a lot about a man
He can't find qualified and skilled people who want to work for HIM. He wants people who work unrealistic hours.
Aussie here...Hollywood came to Australia to make films...we had a new wave of talented actors.
We had new ideas, energy and a Progressive government that supported Creative Industry
That is how it works.
In my opinion...They, MAGA people, would challenge Elon too much if employed in his companies. I think, he'll hire more educated liberal dems, because they tend to be more respectful as employees. And they're generally smart, kind, and efficient workers.
Have worked with amazingly talented US people in IT. They are always fab
I'm in the UK for context
We welcome u x
We used to make ten to twelve feature films in San Francisco pre-NAFTA. Now, they come in with a small crew to film some exterior beauty shots then they fly back to Vancouver. I have worked on stages with union kids who just thought it'd be fun to emigrate from Canada through the film union... As if there was a labor shortage post NAFTA.
I’m in film production , that is my mastery- no jobs in Canada
When are the MAGAs going to wake up? Not holding my breath.
I don't want him making America's decision decisions for us
Remind Americans they have passports 💀
Appreciate the support and Happy Holidays!
People don't get what "pulling oneself up by ones boot straps" means. Whatcha do is tie some straps to your boots and start pulling. You get get no where. It's just the physics of it. When you are told to pull yourself up by your boot straps you are being told to do what is impossible to do.
Omg I’ve always found that saying ridiculous precisely for this reason! Maybe because when I was learning English I always questioned why this idiom
Your channel is exploding 💥 and I love that for you bc I appreciate your well reasoned & empathetic takes on these topics & issues 😁
*I WAS TALKING TO A GUY LAST WEEK* he was making similar money with near zero stress mowing people's lawns V working in IT
He spent $8k on a zero turn mower and $4k on a trailer for it V $150k [?] for his degree
People of America. In the interest of being completely unambiguous I just wanna say, you ought to be listening to Chris, he's only speaking the truth.
Just remember, if it smells like doo doo 🤣
and it sounds like doo doo then it's

Love from a concerned friend from Britain.
Look at how many brilliant engineers there were in America in the 50’s and 60’s?
The Apollo space program Is one good example
Trump is now pushing for no taxes on overtime. The issue with this is that they want to shift the overtime threshold from 40 hours per week to 160 hours per month. At first, this may seem appealing, but the problem is that employers like Musk could exploit this by overworking you during the first three weeks and six days of the month, then only asking for one more hour on the last day. Essentially, this would result in no real overtime pay.
Also SCOTUS legalized bribes in July, you just have to call them tips and recieve them after delivery of services.
Can Elon Musk be considered an illegal alien? He did lie to get in, according to his brother.

Chris I love your channel and I agree with you on most things. The one thing you've said recently that I disagree with is aquiring unlimited wealth. Musk is proof that I one should have more money than the government. Can you name one reason why any person on earth would ever need more than 100 million dollars?

In labor law 20 years. “Musty” (a Racist)= slave labor-slave wages non-union

At one point in America basically all education was free including universities, Ivy League schools were very hard to get into and so were the equivalence over there on the West Coast
Its pay to play.
They bdon't talk about it here in the states because the poor think they are middle class and the middle class think they are wealthy when we are all poor no matter how much you make.
I went to a University of California campus about 50 years ago. A couple years ago, I looked up my tuition from back then vs the tuition a couple years ago. It works out, from my quick calculation, that the annual inflation rate over those 50 years was about 7%. I could be wrong, but I think that's a pretty hefty amount above the over all inflation rate over that same period of time.
we don't tend to grow our resources , we explote . I work at a hospital that did not off education knowing that dr and nursing shortage was coming. The prefered to our source and have nurses from the Philippines come and get stuck here . Also I feel it began with Regan's cuts and implementation of credit card. Education left people in long term debt .
SHEET ROCK...Drywall lol
Yeah the rockers! :)
Polish immigrants in Britain were initially in construction and plumbing, but now they're employrd in most UK companies. They're so well-respected that they earn a premium, such is the demand for them.
This has always been the case. Lower manhattan used to be packed with factories with newly arrived immigrants from ireland and asia. It was a dream for so many to come to america. There are labor shortages in europe.
I think you do an excellent job here Chris. You are not alarmist and give the facts that mainstream media, bought and paid for by oligarchs, often leave out.
So, tear apart the Department of Education and bring in educated people from other countries.
When the banks went overseas to set up their customer service sites. The banks had them sign contracts that they would not get training from the bank they are hired to work. To leave not long after to work at another bank to make more money because now they have experience.
We are lucky we didn’t have Silicon Valley tunnel vision.
(I'm just kidding.)
By the way, my ancestors are Nepalese immigrants brought over as indentured servants. People were brought over for their skill even back 100+ years ago!
When I was my son’s age, we had grants in this country, uk. Now the youths my son’s age have to get in debt to access higher education. This is criminal, or it should be
It's easy to focus on class in racially homogeneous societies. But here in the US race and class are linked in many instances, due to our nations history. So oftentimes when we're talking about race WE ARE talking about class. I agree that racism is a distraction from class solidarity though.

Fun Fact:
An American invented the Television 📺. Philo Taylor Farnsworth. America had great companies manufacturing Televisions. Republicans then started shutting down American manufacturing because of their Hatred of the American worker. These manufacturing jobs were transferred to Asia, mostly China.
Fun Fact: An American didn't invent the Television 📺 he was just one of many who contributed significantly to the development of an idea that was around long before it became a working reality, to claim that Farnsworth invented television is ridiculous.
Well if you think all that for one side and you believe in equality you should feel the same for the other side . Right?
True in India education costs almost nothing or free. Plus Indians are paid less unfortunately. So cheaper talent for the corporations. In US heigher education puts people into debt just like the healthcare insurance. The system is rigged to maximize profits for the wealthy class.
Dude your pissing off
I wonder how high Elon‘s vertical is now 😂
Wheres the jumper from
Im hearing from friends and contacts that job interviews are often days longer than 20 years ago, yes full days doing tasks and meeting teams, then a silent eait if week to find youve nade the next stage, then another aeayvfsy ircteam meet followed by a furty interview, then being told you're in tne top 3 (meaning 2 people wont get the job). Meanwhile youve had to consider other positions. So the HR department kills opportunities.
Im sorry but i disagree.. there was always cheaper workers. Do you know who built the railroads in the US? Chinese laborers who were def not documented. Construction is glamorized.
I don't think Elonia understands Bell curves and population dynamics. The way he ums and uses kinda and sorta is the beginning of my thesis, the fact that he grew up in apartheid South Africa and doesn't like the Springboks concludes my idea.
It is hilarious - Peter Thiel and his techbro's played them all - more H1 visas for immigrants - cheaper !!!.
Making America great - One Indian at a time :).
Yeah they will have arrangements in place with a different country with severe poverty such that there is a replacement workforce ready to go at a certain date in the future, and there will be clauses in the present employees contract that permit immediate dismissal for corn ball reasons
I apologize I just had one more thing to say on this issue of you know having low numbers and not enough take engineers and stuff like that if we go back in history I believe in the black American race we had some good engineers inventors but see if they'd been right and let that prosper we might not be in this situation right now think about that
I know what you mean, one of my Professors in my Black Studies class was saying how you have young Brothers who were literal chemist when they needed to cut, split, splice and make profit. Being able to do Mathematics on their feet. Now think of where that young Brother could have done for Society at large if they had better options in life. Slaves made so many products to make their work easier only for the master to take ownership of the products.

Mos Def starred in the movie "Something the Lord Made" with Alan Rickman. Alan Rickman played a surgeon at Johns Hopkins University and I think Mos Def was a Custodian. Mos Def's character the man he portrayed designed medical devices that are still used to this day. The Surgeon Alan Rickman portrayed made sure this Man who designed the medical was acknowledged by Johns Hopkins University. I have seen the Man's portrait in one of their halls on their Campus in Baltimore. The movie is a definite must watch🙏🙏🙏

But I guess that we even turned the idea of Jesus into a corporation. Everything for gain
In the US, you can make great money by being in the trades. There are many trades in the US. Being in the UAW especially for the big three is a six figure salary if you work a little over time. The ones who are struggling are fresh grads without experience.
See you guys dont understand the difference between talent and education.
You think education makes you smart but in reality, being smart makes you smart.
You dont need a piece of paper to prove you have a brain.
But you need education to learn (how and when to) execute and apply and employ your smarts- education is essential to anything being dine right and it is crucial for a functioning society.
would you say this to your potential surgeon?
Would you use that little mantra then?
The department of education is a massive waste AS it removes money from education. Education is a state issue - the Federal Government Education Department removes money from the states. The at Federal level Audit of education is the only function.

@jasjordan1 has lived my own life...
Stop buying so much from China. Textile and sewing factories could come back here. Even put the railroads back across the country through the middle of the US for better access for shipments. Build industry that has enviroment concerns for now and the future. Be an example but not an enbarrassment to the world like Trump wants and will do. Because half the industry he starts he does not complete or pay for!
Problem is chicken and egg. Try buying any component - for fixing anything. Parts for most of these things can only be found from Chinese manufacturers. Sure you can buy parts locally at elevated prices, but when you look at where the part came from, it was sourced from China and then marked up.
