How did they get and keep ice for cooking in the Victorian age? In the 19th century, one way of keeping ice was to use an ‘ice-house’. They were usually found near lakes, and would be filled with ice every winter, which stayed cold because it was underground. Some “rich Victorians” kept ice-houses in their grounds. Latter came the invention of the ice maker.( mid 1800’s )

This house looks haunted, even though it's fairly colorful and well lit. The dessert looks wonderful though. Love raspberries.

So why invite the queen to lunch just to have her not eat with you. Why not invite her to dinner? I guess the spoke afterwards.

Being set in one's own ways either at the age of 70 or 17 is one thing, but when you're a guest, even if you are an effing English queen, and you are being hosted and are taking advantage of someone's hospitality and incredible costs of catering to your every possible whim, not doing the host an effing 'honour' to actually dine or lunch with them is absolutely scandalous and not worthy of even the worst savage. If I was hosting that... person and she'd have the nerve to announce that to me, I'd told her to either dine with me or with the pigs in the sty on the leftovers from the servants' meal, or get the heck out of my premises, even if it would cost me banition. Goodness gracious, this story calls for a guillotine like few others. I can't watch the remainder of this episode after that, repeatedly hearing about the costs, time and energy spent on preparing the effing soufflet anymore, because the only thing I can concentrate on is the deep regret the British royal family wasn't visiting their Russian cousins when the Bolsheviks finally got their hands on them.

Queen Victoria's inability to get over Albert's death displays weakness. I love these videos but can't stand Victoria. She was just another person. All she did was travel around and eat. Big deal.

That woman had an emotionally stunted childhood of course she grew up to become an emotionally stunted adult.
