Porseleinberg 4x4 Fun Day | 4x4-ing in Riebeek Kasteel

75+ Off-road vehicles joined the annual Porseleinberg 4x4 Fun Day this year. We had just about every make and model there, from Toyota Hilux, Landcruiser, Toyota FJ's, Jeeps, Triton's, Amarok's, Isuzu Dmax's, the lot! This was my first time attending this event and I shall be back for many more.
The event starts on a farm just outside Riebeek Kasteel, from there, we meander from some farms until we find ourselves on top of a mountain called Porseleinberg. The route is not technical at all, more of a leisurely 4x4 drive. However, the wet conditions did make the rocks and surface a little wet, so a loss of traction was found here and there. We ended off the day the same place we started, but everyone found a parking spot on top of a sand bowl and the sand bowl opened up for those who want to play and hoon! Donunts, drifting, sand obstacles, tug of war, getting stuck... this was the entertainment for the rest of the day, while everyone else sits and braai's on the edges.
It is a great family outing, with lots of fun and entertainment. It was great meeting a bunch of new people, bumping into some friends and being able to 4x4 with everyone. Thank the awesome event and I am looking forward to more such events!
