I was an F-15E "C-shopper", comm/nav/RWR/TEWS technician for many many years from 86 to 97. The F-15E is, in my opinion, one of the greatest fighter jets to ever exist. I am very lucky to have flown in one for an incentive flight over Alaska in 1992. Thanks for this video,

The EX is heavier than a Strike Eagle (empty weights compared head to head)
It's a shame the USAF didn't get the Silent Eagle instead, honestly. But they wanted something fast, like yesterday fast. So they basically just picked an already in production model. In fact the EX has had several features that exist in overseas birds deleted, to get it into production faster for the lowest price possible.

I’ve been an airplane nut all my life and was in high school when both the F-15 & F-16 came out. I thought from the very beginning both were the most beautiful and functional modern fighters ever produced and still feel that way. This video made me think of the lyrics from Dos Gringos "I Wish I had a Gun Just Like The A-10". The line about "I wish I had 8 AMRAMS like the Eagle". Well they’ve got to rewrite that line now. Thanks for sharing Mover!

From what I understand, purchase the F-35 requires certain infrastructure that may not be required for other aircraft (physical, cyber, etc). So I can see this being an attractive option for those nations unable to comply with the required conditions for an F-35 purchase. And frankly, unless you plan on fighting a nation with F-35s, the AESA radar on the new F-15s is more than capable to accomplish its mission.
But Mover, you are correct. The per unit cost of the F-35 is lower than an F-15EX. If you want ECM and Targeting pods (both included in the F-35), then that adds an additional $8-$12 million to the per unit costs of the F-15EX. F-35 is a good deal and when the maintenance infrastructure is completed, its (F-35) operational costs will be lower as well. But we can’t always get what we want and ANY nation would be well served with an F-15EX/F-15QA, etc.

I started working the F-15 when they were painted robin egg blue. Hard to see them over the south west. I'm going to guess that the Aircraft is G-limited to less the 7.5 in this configuration. I remember Israel doing something like this back in the 70s but not all of the pylons had MRIUs, (Missile Remote Interface Units). Their process was to fly to a remote facility and down load the missiles that couldn't be fired, fly a combat mission and return to base for a reload. Using the F-15E as a gun truck for missiles makes it a game changer when paired with the F-35s and drones.

I saw this F-15QA demo at RIAT RAF Fairford back in July. They flew both a clean airframe and a fully loaded second airframe. As an observer, I saw very little difference in both displays as far as any performance penalty that the AMRAAMS had on the airframe. That doesn’t mean to say that perhaps the pilot needed to yank harder on the stick or add a bit more power at certain phases of the demo. I noted a slight lag in the initial take off performance given the extra weight but the new fly-by-wire system soon took care of that. Both the clean aircraft and the missile truck performed each day, plus they both did validation displays before the public days. So, I think I saw them perform maybe 8 times. It reminded me of the Ukrainian Flanker display in a lot of ways. All about a big imposing aircraft being thrown around and looking a beast. Nowhere near as agile as the lighter fighters, not disappointing but I preferred the Danish F-16 display to be honest. Air show flying isn’t really the Eagles forte. Take an excellent already in service fighter that's still in production, adapt state of the art new technology and updates to it and make it current time capable part of the fleet for MILLIONS less than the bloated F35. There is no reason all current F-16s, F-18s and F-15s that time out couldn't be replaced with these updated craft, let alone a proper trainer to replace the T-38. Great video. Something tells me the reason Boeing's Airline quality issues haven't bled into the F-15 or F-18 is probably because of the excellent local leadership and staff at that St. Louis plant (McDonnell Douglas leftover standards being maintained).

The pitch meeting for the EX/QA program probably went something like this:
Boeing: “how many missiles do you want?”
Buyers: “you ever play Ace Combat?”
    Boeing: “say no more.”
Saw the QAs demo at RIAT, oh my! Both loaded and clean configuration, it still performed to the same degree, remarkable machinery. As said, Boeing have had a rough time lately, but at least they’ve got this right.

And that's probably the full 20mm drum also since its part of the CoG considerations. And the scary thing is the airframe still has the capacity, though maybe not the same G-load limit, to carry the CFTs, the targeting pods and three drop tanks for a really long loiter as an amraam truck. And we don't know (publically) if there's any efforts going on to intergrate the AIM-174b onto the F-15EX yet as its a navy led missile program and they focused on making it work with the Super Hornet. It does have the capability for the AIM-260 but the 174b while slower should reach out further.

If you're going to convert an airliner to spam AAMs, you _really_ want something with longer range than an AIM-120 - otherwise all you've done is create another big, slow, high-value target. AIM-174B might be starting to get into the ballpark.
