Depends on your needs and what settings you have! I on purpose don’t want things transferred over to my new iPhone 12 Pro Max at the time, such as pictures, videos, settings, apps etc. but when I upgraded to the iPhone 15 pro I had so many pictures and videos by that point and apps and settings I had the phone transfer everything over. It was a simple button you press on the screen you personally don’t need to do anything yourself
Doesn't work quite this way on T-Mobile. Recently got an iphone 13, moved my sim card over from an iphone xr ... couldn't make calls. Had to call support to get it fixed.

Which is completely doable. T-Mobile said they couldn’t help me because I was originally a Sprint customer. And the former Sprint network wouldn’t support it. I hated ditching $65 a month for two lines. But Verizon had no problem putting both lines on one phone. So I switched.
Normally after turning on your new iPhone and going through the setup, it will ask you right away if you want to transfer all the information from your old iPhone to your new iPhone. QUESTION: I’m on a family plan under Verizon. I have an XS Max and bought a 12 pro max yesterday. I was wondering that if I transferred the SIM card to the new phone will it show as a change in device on the billing and data on Verizon account if my dad checks?
Have you found out? I want to get a hone before Christmas but verizon has them on back order and I can get one at walmart but I’m not sure how to buy the phone there and connect that phone to my current phone number and data.
Unfortunately, you 4G SIM in your XS is Not compatible with the iPhone12 (5G). Even the online self serve change your device feature won’t work. You need to call Verizon customer care and have them change your device for you over the phone.

OMG! The iphone 12 pro max is huge!!! Either the size of a comparable luggage or surfboard. Can't wrap your hand around with thumb and either middle/index finger. The only thing that's good about it is the charge capacity is fantastic. No thanks! I'll stick with the sleek iphone 12 pro. But then again there are many Apple users prefer the iphone 12 pro max because of the charge duration that holds up very well. Each to their own. That's why Apple puts out many sizes with their iphones

Does your old iPhone (the one with no SIM card) still have its number stored on it? i.e. if you receive imessages on your number, will you start to receive it on your iPhone 12 AND the old iPhone? Or does your old iPhone lose its number? For example, if you go to settings -> messages/FaceTime, does it still show your number?
Your number follows your SIM card to the new phone. Long story short: you shouldn’t be receiving any more text messages on your old phone. Longer answer: that depends on your settings. Because if you have iMessage text messages allowed for your Apple ID email, then there’s the chance you could get iMessage texts to both the old phone and the new phone at the same time if the old phone is connected to WiFi. Did that answer your question?

Yeah should work the same way! Just keep in mind the iOS is only updated for 7 years. So you only have a few years left with the iPhone 11 until no more iOS updates!
@@realjackeal well, the iPhone 11 I almost purchased only had 64 GB, and due to the intensive video recording I do, I really need 128 minimum, so I'm still stuck with my iPhone 6 (antique :-) in any event, I just heard from a friend that the newer operating system won't work on phones that are prior to XS (D'oh!) So even the iPhone 8 that I almost purchased would probably not work with my bank app In a couple years. Now I'll just have to win the lottery and get the latest iPhone :-)

This will not work with Verizon. Transferring a SIM from a 4G iPhone 11 to the 5G iPhone 12 had a issue from Verizon stating that 5G will Not work with the 4G SIM card. Had to call Verizon to transfer my iPhone 11 number to my new iPhone 12 , with the original 5G SIM back in the iPhone 12.
You might need to turn your phone off and on again. Or update the signals that the phone can get. You can Google for the carrier’s specific way to update the signal.

I honestly don’t know…have you tried going to the sprint store directly for help? I would recommend you buy an unlocked iPhone going forward in case you need to switch service providers.
I don’t think so but I could be wrong. To my knowledge only the phone number transfers. As for all the logged in accounts, I think you have to log into them all again. Or see about transferring every app and settings into the new iPhone
I chose to set up everything fresh to start with a blank slate. You can see about transferring everything. The new iphone should ask to scan the floating info cloud on the screen of the old iPhone, assuming your old iPhone does that
This is called "Sim Swap". I do not recommend that because the old SIM on the IP7 is outdated. If you buy a new iPhone, activate a new SIM card for free instead. The old SIM will not support all the new technology that your Iphone 12 has like 5G. If somehow you can't activate the new SIM right away, this is YOUR LAST OPTION.

@@aluna2778 For online order, you can pick the one that already have your carrier SIM card in it and activate it when you pre order. When you get the phone just set it up and your number will be automatically transferred to the new phone then it’s ready to be used normally OR you can come to an apple store and do the same thing. An sale specialist will help you go through. But I would recommend pre ordering it. It will be sold out really fast.
@Stetson apple said they would use E Sim by default for the 13 models to activate the phone instead of the traditional physical sim unless the customer specifically asks for it. Check the sim slot when you get the phone.

I don't have a specific answer for you. But I always get unlocked iphone so I'm not beholden to a service once it starts charging me higher fees.

That’s what I did yeah. It was the old SIM card and when it went to the iPhone 12 Pro Max it was able to use the 5G portion automatically

It doesn’t transfer photos! You’ll have to do those manually or if they’re saved in icloud you can sync them!

This is called "Sim Swap". I do not recommend that because the old SIM on the IP7 is outdated. If you buy a new iPhone, activate a new SIM card for free instead. The old SIM will not support all the new technology that your Iphone 12 has like 5G. If somehow you can't activate the new SIM right away, this is YOUR LAST OPTION.

@@squall8842 sim swap is safe for emergency, like you have to call or text someone. But for the long run, get the sim card that is compatible with your new phone internet feature.

@@aluna2778 For online order, you can pick the one that already have your carrier SIM card in it and activate it when you pre order. When you get the phone just set it up and your number will be automatically transferred to the new phone then it’s ready to be used normally OR you can come to an apple store and do the same thing. An sale specialist will help you go through. But I would recommend pre ordering it. It will be sold out really fast.
@Stetson apple said they would use E Sim by default for the 13 models to activate the phone instead of the traditional physical sim unless the customer specifically asks for it. Check the sim slot when you get the phone.

I think yes! But the signal for calls starts being able to use right away.
