  • This tutorial will show you how to transfer a SIM card from one phone to another. This will not transfer the contacts on your Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel Android, or Apple iPhone. Additionally, it will not transfer apps or settings. The SIM card only transfers your service to another phone.

    Thanks man! Getting the Pixel 5a with 5g on Friday can't wait to swap the SIM card. I have a very glitchy LG v40 ThinQ the store we went to 2 years ago to get an upgrade told us the camera on them were amazing but my Pixel 2 XL took way better pictures than this garbage phone I put up with for the last 2 years. Bought my new pixel 5a out right for $450 and now if anything happens I'll just get another one. I swear phone insurance is stupid. Just buy a reasonable mid range phone with good all around performance and take care of it till it's too dang slow. Even cheap smart phones are amazing these days. Anyway thanks again for the quick tip

    • @Myandybuck
      @Myandybuck  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations and thanks for the comments. If you are moving from a 4g to a 5g phone, you will need to get a sim card that supports 5g in order to use the 5g capabilities. Be sure to go to a corporate store for your carrier and they should give you one for free. Privately owned stores will charge you for the card.

    I don't know if this is possible, but I have a friend who gets a work phone from his business and he says he can use it for personal items. BUT he wants an iPhone and it is a Samsung galaxy now. Would he be able to switch the SIM card if it went from Verizon Samsung to Verizon Iphone? Also would his work find out about it?

    • @Myandybuck
      @Myandybuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should work just fine as long as the SIM card is the same size. (There are 3 sizes). The only way I could think that his company would know is if there was some app that was specific to Android that he needed to do his work that wasn't available on Apple.

    Thank you very much for the video. I noticed that you put the 2 SIM cards together, in the new phone, one on top of the other. Is that always compulsory? or should I put just the new SIM card in the slot? Many thanks.

    • @mplsfarmer
      @mplsfarmer ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He didn’t put two SIM cards together. The SIM card tray on the old phone just holds the card around the edge with a rectangular hole in the middle. But the tray on the new phone has a grey backing piece in the middle that may give more support to the SIM card. The new phone doesn’t come with a SIM card. To verify this for yourself pause the video at time stamp 2:43 where you can clearly see the SIM card tray that he removed from the new phone, then take a screenshot and zoom in on the SIM tray.

    • @Myandybuck
      @Myandybuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Madison. If the SIM card is the same size, then it should work. However, some of the pay as you go companies only support certain phones so I would check with Tracphone to make sure that their service supports the Xr. I'm not completely familiar with Tracphone so please double check before attempting. Thank you for the question!

    Hey I got a question, I just got a new phone for Christmas and when I was going to switch my old SIM card to my new phone, there was already a SIM card in my new phone. I know that it switches over the provider, but I switched in and out both SIM cards but nothing changed at all, regarding the provider. So is it useful to switch over my old SIM card to my new phone despite the provider doesn’t really change? Thanks!

    • @Myandybuck
      @Myandybuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question! When you order the phone from your provider, they oftentimes include a sim card so that you can just call in and activate the phone. In this case, you can switch the card or activate the phone with the card they sent. I'd just activate the phone with the card they sent.

    • @Myandybuck
      @Myandybuck  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Great question! There could be a couple of reasons. You may be going from a 3g or a 4g phone to a 5g phone. The new 5G does take a different SIM card. Another reason may be because you are going from a CMDA phone to a GSM phone. This happens when moving from Verizon or AT&T to another carrier. I hope that helps to answer your question?

    • @Myandybuck
      @Myandybuck  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. There are 3 sizes of sim cards. If the size is the same, then it will work. If your current phone is only 4g, then you will only receive 4g service even if you have a 5g phone. So, if you are moving from a 4g phone to a 5g phone, you will want a new card to maximize the service. If you go to a corporate store, they will usually give you one at no charge. Walmart said they don't set them up for people anymore and when I called the number it went to a tech company that said they are not related to Walmart family mobile and gave me the main Walmart number.
