FNQ Part 5 - Rainforest to Savannah

Our winter tour of the far north - Cairns, the Daintree and the Atherton Tablelands, including the western savannah country. After a departure delay due to rain we finally leave Millaa Millaa to ride to Ravenshoe, Queensland's highest town. We pass through rainforest and climb the range to emerge into higher, drier cattle-grazing land. West from Ravenshoe the country is savannah woodland, a lot drier and a very different outback feel to the riding. Travelling past Little Millstream Falls we enter the Glen Gordon cattle station lands and travel across it for some 25-30 km. Reaching the Herbert River we cross flat irrigated pasture crops and arrive at Innot Hot Springs, delighted by the prospect of a spa bath. But we get a great disappointment around dinner time!
