Bring this music to young people everywhere!!! They have no idea what music is. Surely there are those out there with this talent. But the corporation's keep them in their bubble.
I was present at one of the Fillmore East concerts where the album “Rockin’ the Fillmore” was recorded. I remember hearing (in the hall) a glass bottle dropping during a pause in “Walk on Guilded Splinters”. I met Steve personally outside a cub called 7th avenue South, where his current trio, “Packet of Three”, were performing.. he approached me with a tall blonde, of which model at his side. I told him while shaking his hand, “steve, I’ve been following you for years!” He told me to “follow him through the F”king door”! Of which I gladly did! He blew the roof off of that little joint, singing and playing his butt off! Ironically, a bartender told me, I hate this f’n guy” he was hired for an early and late show, and he only showed up for the second show!” I was very saddened to learn of his untimely death in ‘91, and will never forget all of the shows I’d seen him play! Rock on Steve! Forever Humble Pie!!!
Nice unseen footage. Steve Marriott is without a peer. The best white rhythm and blues singer to ever walk the planet. and I was fortunate enough to have known him. RIP.
Steve Marriott died in a house fire in 1991, Greg Ridley died of pneumonia complications in Spain in 2003, Jerry Shirley is still active and playing with people like Deborah Bonham (John Bonham's sister and staggeringly good), Peter Frampton is living and playing as a legend. Personally prefer the heavier bluesier Clem Clempson period but the original was a fabulous band. I saw them many many times during the band's lifetime and they really were the best live band ever (only in my opinion).
I think the key to this great British blues performance is its over when it's over. They are in no need to end it quick. A opening a long middle part and then wind up..........
This track kills! Even when the microphones failed (10:30 and forward) when Greg and Peter sang, and even the last shouts of Steve, the band kept rocking hard! Long live The Pie!
The power here is so organic that it's no wonder that it's virtually impossible to equal his "sound". Time goes forward and Marriot (& the Pie's) legend can only continue to grow in stature!
You are so right! NOONE in rock/blues ever touched Steve Marriott & NOONE in bluesrock ever touched Rory Gallagher ! They were 2 of the purest rock musicians,,pity Marriott let the excesses/trappings destroy him.. tho it never killed his passion for his music. Gallagher was just a freakin class act in so many ways. There will never be anything like them in rock music again. I miss them & real ROCK musicians & producers more & more as music& the world just grows colder & stupider everyday.
Fred Cole Waaaaay ahead of ya, Fred - I saw Govt. Mule perform at the MidTown Music fest. back in 1994 - it was their first public appearance. I 've seen them many times since , and was even at the show that was recorded for 'With A Little Help From Our Friends' on NYE 1998. Been a fan for a long time of Warren's. My first time even hearing about him was on the ABB's reunion tour in 1989, in Jax. Fla. I actually had the pleasure of meeting him 13 years ago b4 a show , and he signed my guitar - nice guy, but he was a bit sleepy at the time, he had just woke up from a nap, haha. But yea: he is one of the few real , true musicians of the modern day music scene. I think he inherited the title of "Hardest Working Man In Show Business" from James Brown - the guy is ALWAYS busy working on something. Anyways, cheers!
"Whose Dirk Bogarde?" "It's a Steve Marriott stand-in!" Great response from a fabulous vocalist/guitarist. Stevie has been gone for thirty years in 2021, but nobody has matched the little man with a big, big voice.
So true when I met him I was in shock thinking his body size matched his voice wrong an he didn😢 get any where with me why I was pissed at mysellf❤ same went for mr framton tiny doods man ❤
Ive always called Steve Marriot the white James Brown, so much soul, and he even dances like him, phenomenal voice, great guitar player, great harp (hharmonic) and not bad on the Hammond organ either! What an amazing musician! God how I miss him!
Much can be said about the life and career of Steve Marriott, but from a musical point of view, he always stayed true to himself, what he was and what he did. Never sold out.
Simply great even with the mike screw up near the end. I love this band and still listen to them today. Too bad Steve and Greg are gone. RIP you Rock Gods!
Too bad the band didn't get as much airplay as they deserved! Marriott especially could sing nearly any style of music, and this blues piece is KILLER!
To the rock roll sound that great tone and Great song writing and Great performing , it is hard to Believe and so VERY FRUSTRATING that this is Becoming or Dare to say BECOME A LOST ART Even for the fans buying their records and watch live band perform Damn you Music Industry!!!
Marriot's voice is irreplaceable; I'm constantly amazed when I hear a performance like this; it's always an amazing experience to listen to him. I feel like I'm hearing his voice for the first time.
Even if the host wouldn't have introduced Peter Frampton you can immediately recognize his sound as soon as he starts jamming his solo ( ca 8:44 on ). One of the few guitar greats who truly has his own distinctive sound. Unbelievable.
Llevo escuchando a Humble Pie mas de 30 años, de los discos en directo que mas me entusiasman es su Live de 1973, es acojonante, una locomotora, una apisionadora.
Thank goodness I made the effort to see them twice in the early 1970's. I've still got my original copy of Rockin' The Fillmore, scratches and all - maybe that's why I don't get ill much and why I don't need no doctor!!
so very true..I watched it happen..we were all heavy British rock fans here in the PNW..with a heavy party culture..Zepplin came here religiously in the '70's..as well as all of the other suspects..Huge concert city...we were all picchouli.spanada, weed , acid and festival.. today it's tech central..what a drag...techies suck!
I forgot to mention that I saw them here in England, once at the long closed Rainbow Theatre in 1973 and the other at their legendary upstaging of everybody at the Charlton Football ground festival in 1974 - both venues in London for those reading this in other parts of the world.
Brings it back. Saw Humble Pie a couple of times in the '70s. This was one of my favorites from their "Rockin' the Filmore" album. Plum wore the grooves outta that LP.
Being from the south, all my friends were big on Skynyrd and such, which is cool because I like them too, of course the Allman Bros and even Black Oak Arrkansas, but I liked the British dudes too. I was a big fan of Humble Pie and Robin Trower, and of course Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd. I passed this on to my sons and it tickles me to get in the car with them and hear them pplaying Humble pie.
Steve Marriot was a master of his art ! Wonderful voice, my favourite of all time and multi instrumentalist to boot. Sorely missed but never ever forgotten. RIP Steve x
I'm thankful I not only got to see these guys in concert numerous times but got to party with them too. That Steve Marriot was a truly talented genius. A shame he went out the way he did. What a loss to the rock n roll world.
I still have a 59' Les Paul Jr, blonde face, Steve Marriot asked me to get for him years ago. Brilliant action. Searched the U.S. for just the right one. Too bad Steve passed before he ever got a chance to use it.
Just my thoughts.... Sounds AWESOME to me. This clip captures the spirit of 70's music just as it was,not over produced, raw and energetic. Not just guys posing for a music video mixed with over-engineered sound to hide obvious imperfections. Long live 70's rock.
Wow! Great to see this. Barry Richards was a promoter in the DC area . He put on the Laurel Pop Festival in 69' which was a two day affair at the Laurel Race Track. I still recall Rod Stewart bashing him when the Jeff Beck Group came onstage . The festival ended with a bonfire of chairs and a mini riot . He was never liked in DC. That being said, we Loved Humble Pie and it is great to see them in this vid!
And I've read comments that he was a bad singer . I strongly disagree . I think H.P. had 3 strong lead singers and, I really loved how they traded off lines in a verse like in Desperation etc.
At 8:41 Frampton's 'Rolling Stone' solo on the original 'Rock On' album is still amazing to the day! Humble Pie was never the same after Peter left the group. Seen the original lineup many times at Detroit's Eastown Theatre, and they....ALWAYS KICKED ASS!!! *R.i.P. Marriott & Ridley--'Rock On'.
Bring this music to young people everywhere!!! They have no idea what music is. Surely there are those out there with this talent. But the corporation's keep them in their bubble.

Buying the CD
“follow me through the f’n door” is such a cool thing to say to you too. 😃 That’s awesome
Nice unseen footage.
Steve Marriott is without a peer.
The best white rhythm and blues singer to ever walk the planet. and I was fortunate enough to have known him.
RIP.
I completely agree incredible talent.
Saw them at the Fillmore East in 1971! This tune and IDNNDr brought the house down!
What a voice, what a musician Steve marriott,I never realised how good Pete Frampton was.what a tune this is 👊
Pete frampton is a genius
That sound! With the combination of his guitar playing/vocals, Marriott should be considered one of the greatest rock performers ever.
He is. Ask me
He really was/is/ always was!~
Superb
Rock N roll hall of shame SNUB! Frampton is in, hopefully it’s time
He is and was
I saw Humble Pie in 71'. Steve was the greatest rock vocalist of all time. To top that Steve and Peter on guitar. You can't get any better than that.
That was killer! So cool to be able to watch such footage. These guys were masters of their art.
Little Stevie Mariott, one of the best of all the Rock vocalists.
Steve Marriott died in a house fire in 1991, Greg Ridley died of pneumonia complications in Spain in 2003, Jerry Shirley is still active and playing with people like Deborah Bonham (John Bonham's sister and staggeringly good), Peter Frampton is living and playing as a legend. no one can keep up with lifelong singing, smoking, boozing, heartbreak
I treasure this clp emmensely
thanks for posting that. The real deal
He was a force of nature.
Hard to think of any rock vocalists who've got a more ballsy voice than Steve - what a one-off talent - the good die too young!
Fantastic voice and guitarist
No auto tuning needed. Pure talent
I think the key to this great British blues performance is its over when it's over. They are in no need to end it quick. A opening a long middle part and then wind up..........
Never seen the members of a rock band look so clearly almost trance-like or in the zone whilst performing. Truly mesmerising to behold.
This track kills! Even when the microphones failed (10:30 and forward) when Greg and Peter sang, and even the last shouts of Steve, the band kept rocking hard! Long live The Pie!
I think its safe to say that this is beyond classic...
yep nothing more to say
Never in a million could I ever get sick of hearing these guys. Pure talent!
every time I discover something new of Steve Mariott on youtube, I'm completely amazed.
The power here is so organic that it's no wonder that it's virtually impossible to equal his "sound". Time goes forward and Marriot (& the Pie's) legend can only continue to grow in stature!
Steve Marriott had a one of a kind voice, listening to any of his music, I can only say WOW!! Such a talented musician, R.I.P. Steve your missed...
Saw Humble Pie in Boston circa 1969- 70 with James Gang as the opening act...a very good show...
Such dynamic control!! One of the best bands ever to walk this earth..
That little guy pumps out a giant voice. Wow 🤘🏼🔥
Lovely guy, that Marriot. God, how music needs someone like him now - or a band like Humble Pie for that matter!
Consider listening to Warren Haynes and Govt Mule...
Fred Cole
Waaaaay ahead of ya, Fred - I saw Govt. Mule perform at the MidTown Music fest. back in 1994 - it was their first public appearance. I 've seen them many times since , and was even at the show that was recorded for 'With A Little Help From Our Friends' on NYE 1998. Been a fan for a long time of Warren's. Fred Cole Or Alvin Youngblood Hart
You, sir are in luck: Emerging band blowing up out of Canada, "Monster Truck" has an album out currently, called "Furiosity" - Go gitchya some...
Almost happened in 1991...........
"Whose Dirk Bogarde?"
"It's a Steve Marriott stand-in!" Great response from a fabulous
vocalist/guitarist. Stevie has been gone for thirty years in 2021, but
nobody has matched the little man with a big, big voice.
A British actor and war hero
Damn Great actor was Dirk, was he not in the battle of Arnhem, no, I think that was Richard Todd…
I never got tired of their concerts... These guys could rock the world...
Awesome. Nothing these days compares.
thanks for the vid. Great , great , great band. They don't make 'em like this anymore.
Steve M. and Paul Rodgers are the 2 greatest Rock-Blues singers of all time.
Add - Rod Stewart and John Lennon !
What did I just witness. Pure savage energy. I have a lot of Humble Pie to dig into.
The biggest brightest soul in such a little body!!!! HE TAKES YOU TO CHURCH MUSICLY!!!!
So true when I met him I was in shock thinking his body size matched his voice wrong an he didn😢 get any where with me why I was pissed at mysellf❤ same went for mr framton tiny doods man ❤
This is probably the best performance I’ve ever seen! Dunno how many times I’ve watched since I found it about 5 years ago. It’s just amazing
This is when Rock was thriving. Layers of GREATNESS dammit it’s a shame where it’s gone that’s why we still watch with awe
Ive always called Steve Marriot the white James Brown, so much soul, and he even dances like him, phenomenal voice, great guitar player, great harp (hharmonic) and not bad on the Hammond organ
either! What an amazing musician!
God how I miss him!
I always called James Brown the black Steve Marriott.
@@captainswoop8722 🤣
Alucinante! qué buena banda fue Humble Pie, los escucharé por el resto de mis días, y tengo 21 ahora...
This has to be one of the best live Blues performnces ever caught on film, Marriott is awesome on vocals and harp.
Superb-they played so well together. You can hear Frampton's melodic riffing emerging here.
Much can be said about the life and career of Steve Marriott, but from a musical point of view, he always stayed true to himself, what he was and what he did. Never sold out.
Amazing video of a brilliant performance, from one of the best frontmen, in the music industry - Steve Marriott.
Absolutely heartbreaking when the audio goes haywire at the end.
One of the coolest/heaviest videos I've ever seen. Wow
I love how his voice just shivers as he’s wailing, dig it 😎
Thank you for posting this. Great, great band.
The gutsiest singer no holds barred...gutsy guitarist too RIP Steve miss ya m8
Great song and fantastic performance.👍👍
5:57 The stone cold howl after that harp lick. Holy Jesus.

Love the interplay between Steve's harmonica and Peter's guitar, and greatful the cameraman caught it for posterity.
Humble Pie were an amazing band and that voice is unequaled in rock-saw them live so many times never disappointed
Simply great even with the mike screw up near the end. I love this band and still listen to them today. Too bad Steve and Greg are gone. RIP you Rock Gods!
I love that you can hear Steve Marriot's voice on the drum mikes!
Yes, Steve Marriott died in a house fire in 1991, and Greg Ridley died in 2003 from pneumonia. Sad, isn't it..
voices like this don't come around too often!
I imagine Jack White listening to this a few times before writing Ball and a Biscuit, and why the hell not. And little Stevie, What A Voice!
Wow - Thank you for this fantastic recording!
Steve Marriott was the real deal rock star. Great singer, writer, & player
Humble Pie, true masters of Rock N Roll!
Too bad the band didn't get as much airplay as they deserved! Marriott especially could sing nearly any style of music, and this blues piece is KILLER!
I dunno where you're from, but we played the hell outta the Filmore East and Smokin albums!! No finer RnR ever!! R.I.P. Steve ❤🤘🎸
To the rock roll sound that great tone and Great song writing and Great performing ,

Damn you Music Industry!!!
Marriot's voice is irreplaceable; I'm constantly amazed when I hear a performance like this; it's always an amazing experience to listen to him. I feel like I'm hearing his voice for the first time.
Steve could have sung the whole Phonebook and it still would have sounded great. What a voice !!! Legendary Crooner status in my eyes.
Man, it's 430 in the morning i been listening to this since 11 last night 😊
😂❤
You just can't hear music like this anymore! I love Steve Marriott! Everybody else just stood there he was the main thing and the main man!
the finds on here are incredible. Great post.
Even if the host wouldn't have introduced Peter Frampton you can immediately recognize his sound as soon as he starts jamming his solo ( ca 8:44 on ). One of the few guitar greats who truly has his own distinctive sound. Unbelievable.

Everything distorts at just the right moments, magic!
I still really dig these guys.
Thank goodness I made the effort to see them twice in the early 1970's. I've still got my original copy of Rockin' The Fillmore, scratches and all - maybe that's why I don't get ill much and why I don't need no doctor!!
+skidco1 What a great album!!!!!
+Alpha7xxx Keep on rockin', Alpha. And hats off to you for going with real music when everybody else was into grunge. Marshall amps rule!!

Beer and great old memories brought me here. "Greatness" made me stay. Ain't it funny how beer and greatness never get old?
no one can't compare with his singing style, no one.
I would offer Edgar Winter. Tied for my two favorites.
morphinlounge
I 100% agree! His voice, his style, his everything! Sooo dam underrated though!
Perhaps Cory wells...?
Brings it back. Saw Humble Pie a couple of times in the '70s. This was one of my favorites from their "Rockin' the Filmore" album. Plum wore the grooves outta that LP.
Seen and heard Humble Pie once, back in the day. Very powerful group.
Being from the south,
all my friends were big on Skynyrd and such, which is cool because I like them too, of course the Allman Bros and even Black Oak Arrkansas, but I liked the British dudes too.
RIP Steve x
Thank you for sharing. Love, love Steve Marriott and I have never seen this...!
R.I.P. to my father 31.12.2021 for introducing me to this band.
Wish mine would have
Звучание гитары идеально подходит под голос ...просто сносит голову ..Стим Марриот это нечто ...
Magnificent! I can't believe I didn't explore these guys at the time. I am impressed retrospectively!
I'm thankful I not only got to see these guys in concert numerous times but got to party with them too. That Steve Marriot was a truly talented genius. A shame he went out the way he did. What a loss to the rock n roll world.
The best ever!! Double album with four songs! Hell yes!! Steve Marriot has never been bested as a lead singer!!
Gawd I miss those days.....
Thanks very much for posting!
I still have a 59' Les Paul Jr, blonde face, Steve Marriot asked me to get for him years ago. Brilliant action. Searched the U.S. for just the right one. Too bad Steve passed before he ever got a chance to use it.

I agree..
Greg Ridley... what a bass player... no show off, no bullshit...
Wow! Great to see this. Barry Richards was a promoter in the DC area . He put on the Laurel Pop Festival in 69' which was a two day affair at the Laurel Race Track. I saw them in 70 or 71, opening for Grand Funk Railroad. My ears are still ringing.
Альбом Смокин просто слушаеться на одном дыхании ...не оторваться
One of the greatest rock bands ever! Mr Mariott is in a class all is own - one of a kind!

Singer from another dimension.
Damn these guys were great. Marriott was just born to perform!
Marriot is the definition of the blues and rock and roll!!!
What a great find! One of my all time favorites from this great band. Probably the best British soul singer ever. Thanks for posting it.
Man I love Greg Ridley's bass playing.
If there's a Heaven, that's one thing i want, a chance to play drums along with him.
YEAH !!!!
ShaZAM514 Yeah! He was the first voice I heard in the band, when they opened up with "Four Day Creep", at The Fillmore East! Rock On!
*R.i.P. Marriott & Ridley--'Rock On'.
what a god like voice, steve marriot should be around today so all his fans could shower him with the adulation he deserves!
This is the band that could do it all!
Steve Marriott and the Pie were absolutely made for each other! No such magic now-a- days like what these TRUE ROCKERS put into our heads!
Frampton always his awesome self but Steve felt and built up every note of every song such an underated bluesman/rocker, he is greatly missed.
...was für ein hervorragender Steve M., eine der besten Bands Humble Pie!!!
I'm so thankful I saw this band live!
What"s with the dislikes?
Any twat that dislikes this band ,just has no rock n roll soul baby , let them go listen to bubble gum pop
