You should come down to the sw part of NH and do a video on Mt Monadnock , the 2nd most climbed mountain in the world.

Cool fact: Earlier this year, Mt. Washington set a record for the coldest wind chill in US history at 46.9 degrees below zero.

A very expensive excursion. We take the shortcut up Huntingdon's Ravine and climb straight up the cliff (free climb, no ropes). An unforgettable thrill and the view from atop Mt Washington encompasses the Atlantic and Montreal on clear days. Just bring a fur hat and gloves if you have them.

The Mount Washington Observatory on an icy winter day. It was here that a wind gust of 231 mph was measured on April 12, 1934. It remained the highest-ever anemometer-measured wind gust on Earth until an even higher gust was observed on Barrow Island, Australia, in 1996.

At the .31 second mark. That Looks like a Buffalo Springfield steam roller. Diesel powered ones are called road rollers. I got a live steam model of that in 1968 when I was 5. Large scale too. It burned solid fuel. it was called Old Smokey.

The first turnout or switch for the Mt. Washington Cog RR was designed by the owner-operator of the railroad while he was in Europe fighting in WWII. Prior to that the railroad only had the transfer table at the base station and operated all trains in a row. The turnouts had 9 separate pieces to move to facilitate changing the direction the train would go.
We passed through Crawford Notch in November of 1982 on our way to Conway, NH for a T.R.A.I.N. Convention.

@@MobileInstinct2 It's worth the trip. Especially with the makeover completed. Remember that it's extremely cold at the top. Don't let warm weather at the bottom fool you.
