    A well thought out urban bus system. Nicely done ZF.

    Why are pusher configurations considered and available as options? They are much unstable compared to the puller configurations.

    • @kevin_van_den_berg

      It’s up to the bus manufacturers where they want to place the axle, you can see that Ebusco has always used puller configs for their articulated vehicles, and Solaris mostly has pushers, but for example the eCitaro uses them on both the second and third axle, so it’s really the choice of the manufacturer.

    If you added 2 of those for a bendy bus, would it accelerate 2 times faster than with "only" one?

      you'd be cleaning sick up from the floor twice as often, too. Seriously, don't you think that 22,000Nm of torque is enough already?!

    I like this concept, but Is unsprung weight really an issue? Detractors brong it up. But it sounds like a bs argument

    • @groofromtheup5719
      @groofromtheup5719 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you add to the unsprung weight, the pothole hits the tires that much harder and then the unsprung weight hits the chassis that much harder. A big part of why everything is going to an independent suspension vs. solid axle is to cut unsprung weight. Heavy trucks and busses will get there too.

    • @Gigaguenther
      @Gigaguenther 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It doesnt matter as much in this design because this axle's conventional predecessor is *the* goto for slow-going city buses. Also when replacing a driven axle you add the weight of the electric motors while cutting the weight of the diff *and* the driveshaft so the weight difference couldnt be huge

    Zero emissions. Bullshit.
    Just because we, from our homes outside of China, can't see the incredible damage done to the earth mining the rare earth materials for the batteries, or the emissions from the coal fired power stations, which are the majority, does not make electric vehicles emissions free. Not to mention the the incredible strain on a power grid that is already to its limits and beyond in more areas than most people understand. AND THEN you think we have problems with landfills now? Well, you ain't seen nothin yet! And that's an understatement.
    You're actually a pretty stupid sucker if you buy the "no emissions" BS that is trying to be shoved down our throats.
    How about diesel/electric hybrids? They work incredibly well in trains and could easily do it in passenger cars.
    Come on ZF, be the company that has earned a great reputation, and do what's right. People are sick of this politically correct BS and companies are starting to lose a lot of money and respect because of it.

    • @beanapprentice1687
      @beanapprentice1687 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Incredible damage from mining battery materials? Where? Of course driving an electric vehicle in many countries still produces some emissions, but it's far less than the amount created by driving a traditional combustion vehicle. If you really think that electric vehicles are not better for the environment than combustion engined vehicles, please let me redirect you to this video: th-cam.com/video/1oVrIHcdxjA/w-d-xo.html
