Good bands exist outside of the SWAC! Most of the bands that are pushing the envelope, creative and have balanced sounds exist outside of the SWAC. it's okay to not like A&Ts style. You can't deny this was a good show. They deserved this W. Congratulations to JSU, they brought the fire.
@@georgiathighs apparently the band directors that picked it as a winner have different thoughts and opinions. That's what I love about this. It's not the fans opinions. It's decided by the directors. That's the icing on the cake!
Musically, visually, pageantry wise, innovative and a spectacular show. I was there. JSU should be proud of the wonderful performance that the Boom presented at the competition.
Better luck next year Jackson State. As for the winner it's on to the Rose Parade 🌹. BTW Jackson State fans rumor has it that y'all will be invited to the Rose Parade in 2025. If true " Get Ready". 😊

@@vtwyattA&T's show was balanced, visually pleasing and executed without error. Maybe JSU should have simplified their drills to reduce errors and the Jsette should not have technical errors during a competition. No shade cause the Jsette are one my favorite dance teams. But JSU fans just need to take this L and prepare for next season. They are a dominating band in the Swac and A&T has mastered the art of field shows, they just need to get more aggressive in the stands.
in what universe was this fieldshow better than JSU? don't get me wrong A&T did good, but how was this scored? did JSU get points deducted for cranking at A&T in the stands? were the judges just fans of old school? did they not like usher? i have many questions
Nobody got anything for the 2 songs exchange they weren't a part of the scoring structure in other words the stand battle was just for fun, but they did threaten to deduct pts if the bands didn't depart the stadium so they could prepare for the game.. I think the band competition ended at 10p. This ticked off a lot of SWAC fans because they felt both components (Field and Stand) be a part of the competition but they didn't judge stands throughout the season. All bands knew field show was the only component being judged since the beginning of the season. JSU lost because they made the most mistakes and yes they deduct mistakes. Most of their mistakes came from the J-Settes. No you don't get browny pts if you decide to do difficult drills unless they were done to perfection which JSU didn't do. They made mistakes there too.
In other words, this was solely a technical competition, you were being judged on every little thing, if you lost part of your uniform during ur performance you were most likely deducted for that too. So all bands knew from the get go or since the season started that the judges were critiquing everything heavily is why so many video cameras were on the field (more set of eyes) cause the judges spent all night looking at them. Is why the winner wasn't announced until after halftime during the game.
ScState 😂😂😂 they haven't been anywhere near the top in decades. As far as FAMU and Bethune they didn't make the cut. This was a technical competition judged by expert HBCU band Directors in various categories. If any band wasn't opened to be critiqued, analyzed, and dissented the main focus was solely field show as to what the bands were judged on throughout the season. It was each band's responsibility to submit their entries at least bi-wkly. They all couldn't be performances done on your home field. They started at the top 15 from two Divisions:1 and 2+NAIA. Top10, Top 5, then Top2 from each division. I dont think Bethune participated or after the first rd they dropped. Idk.
Yea It feels like it wasn't really set up for band heads, it seems like it was mainly set up for the broadcasting, the bands still had great performances but they need to have some directors actually plan it next year or consult with folks that have done successful band events.

Way better than the same boring show that JSU gives during all of their halftime performances!!!! They give the same show but at different locations 😂 sorry losers 🤦🏾
@@brienb796 I’m sorry all A&T fieldshows are the same… busy, boring, and god awful corp style. We all know why y’all won. We are the #1 HBCU band we don’t need ESPN to tell us that. Y’all are no where sitting with us.
We need to see scores to understand how this is a “winning show”. Terrible execution for an event that could be possibly something big. Much like a 4 team college football playoff bracket has changed, I think we need more than 4 bands in attendance and from schools people actually wanna see jmo.
JSU definitely did not have the better show when it came to field presence in their division…… NCAT show was more exciting and execution was on point!!!! They deserve it however Sonic Boom was better, sounded better but that mess up when they did the squares cost them first place
Moved away and hadn't seen this band in about 30 years, they still got it. Polished, on time and tight. Awesome stuff.

i just don’t understand how they were chosen over The Boom’s highly entertaining Usher tribute…
JSU made multiple mistakes on the field. They did not have a clean field show.
The mistakes were not obvious… However they were much more entertaining than A&t…Stevie Wonder could’ve seen that!!!
