As the developer of this game I will try to answer some common questions:
Logan is a real person - his face in the game is a picture I took a while back. Him and I thought it would be funny to make a parody of Mario Kart, called Logan Kart 8. We came up with courses, karts, characters - you name it. It was little more than a joke at the time. This was 2-3 years ago; before I knew Mario Kart 8 even existed.
In August 2014, I decided to actually make Logan Kart 8 and turn the stupid idea into a reality. It was my very first large-scale project in Unity, which explains all of the bugs and problems (I was still new to coding in Unity at the start of development, and I'm still no coding mastermind), but I think they help give the game its wacky, "cheap knock-off" character. The buggy physics (and bullet bills) were not intended, but they were so amusing I decided to keep them in intentionally as part of the game. After all, much of Mario Kart is luck-based.
I actually did make almost all of this from scratch - the 3D models and tracks, the textures, most of the sounds and music, and the game mechanics - the only main standouts are the skyboxes and a few select music tracks (Edwin's Farm, Toddler Park, the obligatory SMK theme remixed in the title theme, and the future Waluigi Vending Machine). This is why the AI is rarely competent at driving. The game has the strongest influences from MK64, MKDS, and MK8, but the real goal was just to get a Mario Kart-esque game playable on the PC that actually felt somewhat like Mario Kart, unlike most of the PC Mario Karts I have seen.
We ran out of ideas for some things, so most of the not-well-known content comes from inside jokes. Nagol is Logan's friend in real life, but in this game he is portrayed as the "anti-Logan," hence the backwards spelling (because "Walogan" sounds stupid). His face is a picture that I took of him last year. Bob, Speedy, Waluigi, and Wario were just a random selection of our favorite characters that we thought had to be in the game. The former two's names come from a really bad Smash Bros parody game I made in seventh grade. Jimmy (commonly mistaken for Mario because of his red hat) is from an old Game Maker game Logan and I made many years ago. Bike Obber is from that same game, and the misspelling is intentional (in the game, his sprite was accidentally called "AMAZING BIKE OBBER.png"). Notreal's name comes from Montreal and the fact that the city is Not real (get it?). Roundabout and Toddler Park are both based off of Baby Park - the former squashed, the latter stretched.
The game was never supposed to be a perfect recreation of Mario Kart, but it was supposed to be similar - a somewhat playable, but entertaining game, rooted in parody (almost like Sanicball, but with far less memes). I never expected this many people to take notice of it, but as of now it's the only notable thing I've done on the internet.
I will try to fix that controller bug, though.

This is how long it takes AtariAge to produce these things sometimes. Princess Rescue took 6 months after I finished it. Keep screaming at Albert over there at AtariAge. I know it's super close to being out, but it's been really close now for 4 or 5 months! Once I'm finished with the software side of things, it's all in his hands.

The music on the Second to last track sounded familiar to me, then I realized it was From Edwin's Farm in Scribblenauts Unlimited. I was going to leave a comment saying "The Second to last track had a Midi of the music of Edwin's Farm from Scribblenauts Unlimited!" before I realized the track is literally called Edwin's Farm.

Oh my God the Shopping Cart reminded me of a crappy flash game I once played called Mario Carts 3D where it was literally four palette-swapped Marios driving shopping carts around a canyon. Best 5 minutes I ever spent.

_Human Centipede_ was named that because the human victims were conjoined in such a way as to resemble a single entities. Their digestive tracts were conjoined in much the same way as a centipede has a long digestive track throughout its body. The point was that they _resembled_ a single entity with a single digestive tract, like a centipede, even though they were still cognitively three separate individuals.
The whole "multiple limbs" thing is also a possible reason, I guess, but I didn't really detect that as a factor.

I feel like Vinny doesn't enough appreciate the genius that this game is.
I think whoever made this has a really good start. He knows how to make an in-engine camera pan scene, a fully fledged menu system with 3D backdrops, and physics that at least somewhat work. If some refining were done, you could have a poor man's Mario Kart. Do a bit more than that and add some creative flare and you could have a legit nice racing game

Guys, download this QUICK if you ever even remotely want to give it a try! This is definitely not lasting long. It's like the guy who made Mario 64 in Unity, he had to take it down. So if you actually want to try it out, get it while it's still up.
Shilag This is different though. This is a parody, not an HD version of a game owned by someone else. As a parody of Mario Kart this is protected under copyright law. (now whether Nintendo will honor that, who knows)

Shilag A game this poor quality isn't going to get anywhere near enough publicity for Nintendo's lawyers to notice, and as a parody it's covered under fair use. They haven't done anything about the porn games, and that's way more infringing.
That Mario 64 Unity game only got taken down because he literally used assets ripped directly from games and redistributed them with the game. Don't steal assets or try to sell your game and Nintendo probably won't care. Actually; even if they did care, they don't have any legal ground to stand on unless they can prove you are damaging their intellectual property

Even though this game is shitty, it's kind of inspiring. It's half shitty - half trying, and you can see that plenty of times on this video. I kind of want to make a kart racing game, and this game makes me actually try to.

It literally is metroid?? Like on what grounds is it not metroid? It is quite literally a metroid game. It even has the Galactic Federation, Space Pirates, etc. Its like saying that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon isn't a pokemon game because its generic pokemon with the name Pokemon slapped on it, simply because you don't play as a trainer.
Chocojoe The games looks like Metroid Prime. It's a first person shooter with exploration elements. It's just going to feature Federation soldiers. Plus, Nintendo never said they would reveal a new Metroid, and even then, where does it say that Samus has to be playable in every Metroid game. Donkey Kong isn't playable in Donkey Kong Country 2. So please, just accept that it's a spin-off, and take what you can get.
