Adding features like this also helps a lot with helping drive user adoption. Everyone will want to see this week's notifications!

Great video, will help with those that just look for the overview and not / can't analyse the information.

This is great, really enjoyed this as it was on my list of things to work out. A couple of thoughts; you could output the alerts via two Measures, one the text, the other the value. That would let you align all your values by using two columns in the visual, it's a little neater and you can then sort by the largest change or do other stuff using the change values.
Then you have the option of using PowerAutomate to put your alerts into a Teams message or Adaptive Card and get the alerts out without your users opening the reports first. Embed Power App to let users sign up to the notifications perhaps?
I would love to know if it's possible to let the users set their own alert levels for the stuff they care about? I guess you need a PowerApp to collect some info then build a table for all users, then I get stuck. Row Level Security on that table maybe?

Great video! Do you have in plan to make some video on alerts (data drive) in Power BI Service? Is there any possible options to tweak those 0/1 possibilities when you add alerts ranges? For instance, I got a table with Location vs Daily Sales, and I would like to know how many locations got daily sales, which locations sales was less than maybe last week/month (same period) or if there is no sales at the given day?
Now what I need to do is to open daily sales report and check there for any differences and to locate what/where, instead of receiving notification on my Email, phone of some issue.

    Hey Bas!
I just love your videos on power bi and it has helped me great way in my career.
    Can you make video on:
Like using slicer...by choosing an option in slicer....it should navigate to new page or window...and the same should work for multiple choices....opening multiple windows on same sheet...I know I'm asking too much....hope you would help me out on this.
    Thanks and Regards

Ones again excellent video and content? Follow up question: Is it possible to push notification alerts to users via email in a power bi report or is it only available in dashboard? e.g. a power automate flow which automatically is triggered when a predefined alert limit has been achieved.

Can we do a page navigation with hierarchy? For example sales pages have a different hierarchy, ops has a different one and so on! Help would be appreciated

Hi, even though I have followed the exact same formulas, I get nothing in the notifications because apparently the value for my WoW% measure is always 0, which is not because if I put the measure in a matrix and I check its value on a weekly trend, it's all the time higher/lower than 0, the same if I add the parameters for which I want to display it (ex: Class/Manufacturer in your case). So any ideas why the "Alerts" formula sees my Wow% value as 0 all the time for every parameter when in reality it is not ?
Thank you for your great work.

Hi PowerBI community! Can we set alert of a value of a table? or we only can do it by measure?

  • @matiasmejail6201
    @matiasmejail6201 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Maybe this information can be useful for someone: (it was for me)
that you should not create a comparison in the last step, just a true condition is valid there. When not, this will not work. But we can add conditions in the relevant variable.

I have connected my outlook to power BI and added a automated flow that will refresh the dataset every 5 mins. I want that when a new mail arrives from a specific sender with a specific subject then a pop up window will open with a sound and shows the message body of that email or whatever I want in my power BI server

@@HowtoPowerBI No problem at all! Really being inspired by your videos in recent weeks. I had some creative ideas also back in the days, but the reporting has gotten so stale in few projects that I had lost the inspiration to investigate and find new things within the Power BI.
But these little tips and tricks you are presenting, are a great reminder, that you can do something out of the box with PBI as well! You are not only limited with the basic graphs you are provided. It is only up to you, to utilize the tool Power BI with your own imagination.
So a BIG thank you, for reminding me, that PBI is capable to do amazing things as well. And with a little bit imagination, one can create informational and neat looking reports! And in addition, these kind of functionalities like alerts, might seem a little thing, but it is actually a massive improvement for report UI and for the users.
SO once again, thanks thanks thanks thanks thanks.

Use the free Simple waterfall chart add-on. It works way better than the default chart. You can add measures as bridge items too.
