    You are definitely the best Power BI TH-camr I've found! All your videos are great and flow really well. I've seen lots of people that have good info, but their presentation skills are lacking, or vice/versa. You combine info and presentation skills equally at an expert level. Keep up the great work!

    Very nicely done. One idea for usability of reports that are used in meetings: It might make sense to use colors for categories that can clearly and easily be named without confusing it with other colors. Otherwise discussions might go like: "Can you explain that small dark turquoise section?" - "You mean this one?" - "No, not the cadet blue one. The slightly darker one." - "That one?" - "No, that's the dark sea green one." - "What!?" 😂

    Great video, for the alignment and distribution, like power point, Power BI has a tool to equally distribute and align these forms. Select the forms > Arrange > Align > Distribute Horizontally

    Love the simple design tips! Be careful using background images as it often breaks the accessible colour modes (I believe - unless it’s been fixed recently). Won’t always be critical depending on your audience and how your reports are used.

    the technique at 7:10 might be good for when you are trying to group several visuals together, however nowadays I just use padding to create the same effect (plus less objects to compete for processing). I find that 15-20px padding looks quite nice in a lot of ocassions.

    Nice Tips! Specially the one using the canvas screenshot to place correctly the objects on Power Point.
    For the white space I would also recommend to use the shadow without glowing and centralize it! A good way to do the white space without the need of another object in the canvas.

    Man! The more I learn about Power Bi the more I see how many basic things it lacks. Considering it´s something that been around for years, I can´t get my head around it. It should be called Workaround BI

    • @HowtoPowerBI
      @HowtoPowerBI  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      lol 😅 .. yea also don't get why some things like padding are not there .. but it is still doing a good job compared to most other "self-service bi tools" .. and over time I guess they will add those little annoying things are missing at the moment

    I think trick number 6 would be to set the Report Wallpaper to match or contrast so it stays looking nice, but then Step 7 would be to make sure your App colours are set to match too. Then you remember that you can't set custom colours in your App and it all falls down!
    It's worth bearing in mind that you might want to constrain your design choices so they still work really well wherever the report ends up being embedded, Teams, Sharepoint, the PowerBI App, Report Service and Apps all wrap slightly different stuff around your design. The lack of Custom App colours really annoys me!

    For the space calculation of the third table around 4min in the video, you could also fix the width of this table to 640 directly, put this table on the far right of your page then reduce the width to 500, works like a charm :)

    Hello Bas, another fantastic video. Would it be possible to build a PVM (price volume mix impacts) video using DAX? it would be huge for finance/commercial/SC folks!

    • @alexgry4763
      @alexgry4763 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, it is possible. However, you might want to avoid DAX calculation, especially if you are dealing with a lot data, and evaluate the PVM impacts upon loading the data in PowerQuery on your lowest granularity basis. This way you will be able to correctly summarize your effects for every slicing dimension, without having to worry about the partial sums.
