Totally awesome! Showing your DAX code is always not only informing about the topic in question, but expands my horizon about use of DAX functions in general. You guys ROCK!
Patrick, simply great. I followed your instruction and set up some nice conditional drill destinations. Unfortunately i can't figure out how to get rid of the right-click drill option which kinda nullifies the whole thing😦
Brilliant video!! Thanks for your great work! Is there actually a chance to choose two values from one visual and drill through? In your example that would mean to choose two customers and then drill through to the details of both customers... seems such a simple task, but I can‘t get that to work. Thanks again!
Thank you, will try this. How do I select multiple customers and drillthrough? We have several million customers. It's kind of hard to explain to the consumers(my boss and other departments for whom we design reports) to select each one individually.
Hey Patrick. You always inspire me to think in creasy things My question is >> In Excel, we can copy and move the sheet from one file to another In Power BI how can we copy one page in the report to another file/ report ?? We can duplicate it in the same file but we can't copy it to another file With Regards
After I have everything selected and I have the same DAX, nothing populates for me in the page it navigates to. Any tips/advice on why I might be having this problem?
Starting in Power BI and loving your videos so far. Simple, interesting, easy to reproduce and relevant. I will definitely use this perk in my reports (performance wise). TY for the tip. ;¬)
Yes enabling drillthrough via button is great feature, but we need to restrict the user to stop using the drillthrough functionality by right click the data point..
That's great.! But also I am looking for the option to disable the drill through option on right click on any bar, when I implement this solution to page. Please explain hot to achieve that? Thanks.
hi, Guy in a Cube. Could you explain to us if it is possible to apply this action button to drill through other reports in the same Workspace? Thanks a lot in advance
Great video Patrick. Personally I think end users struggle with the Ctrl Click even when being promted but luckily I dont have any cases where I need two dimensions for drill through as we are quite basic at the moment.
Hi Patrick, Just loved linking Drillthrough to button and how button text changed to make report more user friendly. Thank you so much sharing. I have applied this to one of my report but i am facing issues with changing the font color and background of the button. The default grey color doesn't match my report theme and i am unable to change the first text that we see in format panel. However, the changes made in format panel applies to second text when we click the button. Could you please guide if there is a way to change the font color and button color for base button. Looking forward for your guidance.
Nice One Patrick !! It will be nice to see if we can filter and toggle based on buttons .. So that we can customize them to our needs instead of using the conventional slicer .. ( not via Bookmarks :) )
I have no idea WTF u r talking about, but I watched and listened until the end. But next year, because of these gracious tutorials, I hope to be able to say that I get it; piece of cake.
Amazing stuff man!! You guys are my go-to channel for this crazy stuff! Just one question though: why'd you write the AND function inside an IF if the results were gonna be TRUE and FALSE? Wouldn't using just AND without the IF get the same result?
Hey Patrick, Nice content. I have one doubt, what if i have one scenario where the hasonefilter or selctedvalue is not working - if there is only one record in the visual but still user need to select the row/record for drill though button to work instead the dax is returning true logic as i'm having only one record.
Wow factor Patrick, its really good information to learn..... Can we do this across reports? For eg., Customer details and Country details are not in the same file which is in different file?
Hi Patrick... this drill-through option using the button helped me a lot but I am still facing a small issue. You showed that we can drill through between pages using the page name from slicer but I have 10 pages total and for different visuals, there are a different set of drill-through pages for eg for some visuals I have 2 drills through pages for some visuals there are 5, so we have page slicer from which we are selecting a single page from the entire list of 10 pages is there a way by which I can only show the custom page names set for that visual after filtering the visual by selecting any column or bar from visual.
Is it possible to filter the data after clicking the button? Let's say that after clicking the button I would like to see the redirection to the page and simultaneously filter that page based on some parameters?
Hey Patrick. I love your videos. It has helped me a lot in exploring power BI. I have a question, can we drill through to a particular bookmark in a page ? Instead of drilling through to a page
Hey Patrick, Thank you for that amazing tutorials on Button Drill through. Today, I tried this feature so found that drill through seamlessly works well with basic visuals but when I use custom visual Donut chart from a market place so that button drill through is not working at all and when I changed this custom visual back to basic doughnut chart so it is working fine. Is drill through only working with basic visuals and not with custom visuals?
Hi Patrick, Hope to find you well. Great Video and tips but I have a problem, if I use a slicer instead of a table the Drill button doesn't activate Any tip how to fix this? Thank you Best Regards
I went through the video its great learning. I have tried this in my project and did this measure but i got a comment saying too much comands passed in if statement. It only can pass 3 commands. What can be the solution to this?
Hey Patrick! I was trying to create, with ONE button, the ability to navigate to a different page, accordingly to the filter that the end user use. Currently you have to choose one page (from a column that have that same names as the sheets names in the report) and it makes it impossible to do it with a dynamic measure. My main goal is to have the same button at the top of each page, and this button will navigate to the relevant drillthrough - if the end user filtered one customer then it will navigate to customer drillthrough. Thanks a lot and i will appreciate if you can help me with you knowledge
Simply Amazing! I love Guy in a Cube! For the first page of my dashboard, I created buttons with images for different clients which I'd like to either drill-through or navigate to a page with more information about the client. Without clicking on any visuals other than the button itself, how can I click on the button with the image and have it drill-down or navigate to a page based on the client name? i.e. Will it work if I somehow put conditional formatting for the Client Name field in the Button Title or Button Text? You would be my forever hero if we could accomplish that!
Hey Patrick, This is great but how can i go back to the source page with the selected customer en selected country on instead of returning to the source without these selections.❓❓❓
How can I apply this to KPI cards? So that for example, when I have 10 on-hold projects (as KPI card) and I click it, it takes me to the details page and take into consideration I have filtered the department also. Please drop a link to the solution if you have one
Hi Patrick How can I use the same drill through button when I have more than one drill through fields on drill through page ? I have three drill through fields on my DT page as level 1, 2 and 3. My requirement is to add the DT button which will pass value as All if only level 1 is filtered. Same goes for level 2 and 3.
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the account password. I love any tricks you can give me.
@Neil Jaxtyn Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I have in the main page one year slicers and one bar chart. when I want to drill through to another page with multi select from sclicer filter and bar chart together, see that drill through doesen't seem to pass all filters and doesn'twerk correct!
Thanks for informative topic. Could you please let me know on how to pass dynamic parameter values from one paginated ( report builder developed) report to other paginated report. It's taking me to paginated report but dynamic values are not populated it shows as fields!test.value , I have to pass manually. Do you think it's possible between paginated reports. This will be a great help . Thanks Radhika
Anyone has any idea what could be the reason that when I create a similar measure like Drill Navigation, then I cannot select it (or any other field) in the conditional destination window?
Q: My drilthrough button deactivates when I select a 2nd filter from a 2nd bar chart by control+clicking. Seems to work fine when I have just 1 selection from one bar chart, but as soon as I add a 2nd it turns off and has a little hover message "to drill through, select a single data point from [field one], [file two]" etc. Any idea what could be preventing me from getting this to work with more than 1 filter?
5:45 is there any way for a report user to select both without holding down the 'ctrl' key? I'd like to make multi-visual filter selection as fool-proof as possible for report users.
I am using a drill through button to drill through to other pages in the report.
I have come across 2 problems for which I would like to see some help -
(1) Normal Drill through to a selected page defined in the action -
this works perfectly when only one field value is selected. where we select more than one field from multiple visualsss on the page, the button doesnt get enabled at times. the drill through still shows when we right click and works
(2) conditional drill through by DAX
coming across inconsistent performance, as it the button doesnt get enabled at times.
firstly we have to select Country and then using CTRL button to select Customer then Drill option will Highlight .My Question is if we don't want to use CTRL button to select Customer how will do this ? I Shall be very Thankful to You . Thanks

Great video, but for the life of me I can not get the drill through to work. The button just remains greyed out, but I know the logic is sound because the text changes. Any thoughts on what I’m doing wrong?
Don’t understand why, but changing g one of the conditions to has one value and only having one drill target field on my dest8nation seems to have fixed it.
I am having some issues using this feature. I can get it to work for one selected dimension, but I am having issues when I try to incorporate a second selected dimension. Any ideas?
Totally awesome! Showing your DAX code is always not only informing about the topic in question, but expands my horizon about use of DAX functions in general. You guys ROCK!
This needs to be told to SQLBI guys.
Man ...you've just save my day. Thanks from Brazil!
What a great and enthusiastic way to show new functionality, tricks and best practices. It's funny too. Thanks for sharing!
Patrick has the best Power BI videos out there hands down!
Appreciate that Stephanie! Thanks for watching 👊
I did try out previously with just 1 button drill through but not the slicer page navigation... Will try that too.. thank you it is really helpful....

Great video that shows further functionality in conditional drill that I have not seen before. To add feedback text is nice.
Nice to hear Thomas! Yeah it is a great way to help with that communication and drive awareness of functionality.
This just blew my mind.Amazing video! Just what I needed. Thanks, your channel is always super helpful.

Love to try this in my report. Infact i was looking for this.
Thank you so much.
Thanks Patrick! Wish we could also use conditional drill through natively (without buttons)!
Wow! I have never really tried this conditional formatting for texts. It's really cool we can combine it with drill through. Thank you for sharing.
hi, Guy in a Cube. Could you explain to us if it is possible to apply this action button to drill through other reports in the same Workspace? Thanks a lot in advance
thank you very much for your videos !! this is a game changer for the user experience 😄
Great video Patrick. Personally I think end users struggle with the Ctrl Click even when being promted but luckily I dont have any cases where I need two dimensions for drill through as we are quite basic at the moment.
Basic is ok 👊 We have also seen confusion over those "gestures".
This is solid gold.

Like QlikSense/View? I've always liked their filter functionality more when in the end user role.
Yeah the actions of a Button/Image are limited. I agree that would be great functionality, but today they don't provide that direct functionality.
that s genius! super clearly explained thanks!
Excellent video and great explanation! Highfive!
Amazing video to shows further functionality in the conditional drill. I know you can do anything.
Hi Patrick. It would be great if after all the examples you could tell us how to optimize these formulas.
I have no idea WTF u r talking about, but I watched and listened until the end. But next year, because of these gracious tutorials, I hope to be able to say that I get it; piece of cake.
Great way to use conditional drillthrough! I'm learning so much from your channel, thanks!

Amazing stuff man!! You guys are my go-to channel for this crazy stuff!
Just one question though: why'd you write the AND function inside an IF if the results were gonna be TRUE and FALSE? Wouldn't using just AND without the IF get the same result?
Wow. Genius. This is the exact type of solution I need to improve one of my existing report filed. Thank you!!
Truly inspiring !! Also maling the link with performance, as the more fancy it gets it always has downsides. Thanks a lot !!!
awesome to hear 👊

Patrick... Love your background wall, huge fan! I use a Jarvis background for my lock screen.
Hi Patrick, how are you? Can you please advise or suggest or make a video how to make measure clickable rather than using drill through..

2. Why do you nest AND statements instead of using && ?
I love you guys... you videos are amaizing - by content and really funny!
Loved it!! I am gonna try it!! 🇮🇳
Boom! That's awesome
Awesome man.. Thanks for sharing
Is it possible to disable the right click drill through on the graph tho? Otherwise users could right click and drill through without the conditions
Hey Patrick, This is great but how can i go back to the source page with the selected customer en selected country on instead of returning to the source without these selections.❓❓❓
Great tips 🤘🤘 will love to test these out
This is awesome... exactly what i was after.
How can I apply this to KPI cards? So that for example, when I have 10 on-hold projects (as KPI card) and I click it, it takes me to the details page and take into consideration I have filtered the department also. Please drop a link to the solution if you have one
How do you are showing that text in tooltip that says right click to drill through ?
Hi Patrick
How can I use the same drill through button when I have more than one drill through fields on drill through page ?
I have three drill through fields on my DT page as level 1, 2 and 3. My requirement is to add the DT button which will pass value as All if only level 1 is filtered. Same goes for level 2 and 3.
Wow, this is icebreak & dynamic powerBi dax and drill though buton created - thanks for sharing
In Action menu for the button u have added, Why destination is showing None for me? Or, how do u get Customer Details in the dropdown.?
Thank you Patrick, I tried it. 😉
one of the best combo!!!!
Agreed 👊
Love the fact that you ended with performance analyser! amazing video as always :)
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account??

@Neil Jaxtyn Thanks for your reply. I found the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm.

@Neil Jaxtyn it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out :D
@Liam Anthony Happy to help xD
Can we drill through and have the result appear on the same page, instead of an additional page
Using single table with all columns, How can I use drill through option using Button.please suggest

How are you undoing that at 10:15? Control z?
Hey Patrick, do you guys have any video on maps visuals in Power Bi, if yes can you please share the link. If not can you please make a video
We don't have anything really specifically for map visualizations. Something we could look at doing.
Awesome 👍
Hi
I am using a drill through button to drill through to other pages in the report.
I have come across 2 problems for which I would like to see some help -

any way to make a button do multiple actions? ex activate a book mark then navigate to another page?
Can i use buttons to toggle between last 30 and last 14 days, date slicer????
hey how can i download only data fie only
firstly we have to select Country and then using CTRL button to select Customer then Drill option will Highlight .My Question is if we don't want to use CTRL button to select Customer how will do this ? I Shall be very Thankful to You . Thanks
