    This video was filmed 3 weeks ago and so yesterday I installed the lights. This will be next week's video :)

    I love the picture for this video with the tiny hat. This happens to me a lot with indoor plants. It's one reason I think I can't grow on windowsills. I will give my pitchers a chance. I don't have this happen much outside or on the patio. My indoor tentaculat is doing this a lot like yours.

    Thankyou for the video. You make it interesting as there is plenty to learn about growing these nepenthes and understanding their needs for the best outcomes, in growing near or on a windowsill. The more you can understand your plant; the more rewarding it is to grow them, i am sure you would agree!

    I enjoy your instructive videos. I have a question about lids folding. I have an N. albomarginata that has produced lids that have completely folded inward. Any suggestions as to reason why?

      For me it's when something is missing. I have a small n. maxima x (lowii x macrophylla) that arrived at spring's end and all the lid are stuck. I feel it's like to temperature because they are getting better know (after 5 months!).
      Maybe check your night temperature and feed the pitcher to see if the plant could gets better?

    Many plants can change their leaf structures to adapt to environmental changes. Shore plants for example - many can grow terrestrially as well as submerged. They can grow a different leaf structure to help it adapt to changing conditions.

    I got the lights for winter - it was too bright and gave me a headache, so I returned it. I bought a small light for under the cabinet… mostly for the sundews. I placed the sundews in there, now for 2 days.. it’s not changed colour of the dews, so it’s not working AT ALL. I’m unsure what to do. For the room, I got a tracklight and full spectrum GU10s. .. haven’t installed and have NO idea if it will do anything for my indoor jungle.

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will have to try for the light, but 2 days is really short. I would check in 2 weeks. Maybe even a month.
      Monday you will see the light I installed. And I'll check if it work in 2 months.

      @@WindowsillNepenthes I was hoping that the part of drosera that turned white because of winter light - had ANY colour after a few days. I thought the sun would turn it reddish pretty quickly

    Thank you my lid is extremely deformed and might even just fall off one of these days. Do you think that the pitcher and the plant will be ok if the lid falls off?

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The plant and even the pitcher don't need the lid. Especially indoor. ;)
      So it's ok.

    I bought a truncata seedling about the size of a button 3 weeks ago (going 4 weeks already) which I placed in an area with bright shade. According to the seller, he have been placing it place it under growlights until I bought it. For the past 3 weeks, the plant has been able to develop newer leaves with tiny pitchers slowly, but based on my observation, the older leaves have started to turn brown over time, leaving only the newer leaves to remain. The newer leaves on the other hand seems to be fine but there seems to be a slight brown color developing on their pitchers' lids. I live in a tropical country and it's currently hot in here due to summer. Should I be concerned about the older leaves browning or is it just a part of the transition period. I'm thinking of putting it in a plastic bag while in its bright shade location because I think it's the heat that is causing the browning, but I need opinions regarding this matter as well. Thank you.

      @WindowsillNepenthes  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're completely right: Your plant is getting used to its new environment and creating new, more suitable leaves. It can easily take 1-3 months so you will have to be patient. ;)

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's probably a x ventrata, but anyway, lid drying could be that the pitcher is old and dying, on the humidity is too low. Wait to see how the next pitcher react. 😉

    My nepenthes bicalcarata had no lid as I got it from my Gardener "Green Jaws". I thought it broke off during the Journey to me but now I think it could be just a little lid because the Pitcher was also very small. The Pitcher was just about 1,5 cm or so.

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Maybe wait for the new pitcher to see if the lid develops fully?
      If it's the shipping's stress, the next pitcher should be better.
      If the new pitcher is the same, check for temperature or light...

      @@WindowsillNepenthes Yes you are right! The next Pitcher was almost equily from the Size but thats because of the Winter and less Light. The Following Lid developed normal with the cool Fangs under the Lid which Nepenthes Bicalcarata is nown for. And Greetings from Germany. :)

      Yes, you may need an AC 24/7 (or switch to Lowland? I feel like raising the humidity is easier than lowering the temperature).
      You have a great seller in Austin, TX: Carnivero.
      I would love to visit his greenhouses!

    The plant just want to change their fashion. :) ps.joke
    Edit: Putting the joke aside. Personally if my pitchers have some sort of weird growth like your small hat nepenthes, it would look cool too. As long as the plant is not sick or infested, it would just look stylish just like how people try to collect unique cultivators. Your plants look pretty cool overall. :)
