    Thank you so much for all the care guide, you put so much effort into sharing your experience. I got into nepenthes from watching your videos.

      @@WindowsillNepenthes is alata a good beginner nepenthes?

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@louisgreen3071 Yes it's easy as long as you provide good light and water it properly but pure alata is rare. You probably have an hybrid like n. Ventrata: th-cam.com/video/qtjfWem0SM4/w-d-xo.html

    i like to simply orient the leaves so that the tip of the tendrils are touching the sphagnum moss in the pot to keep them nice and moist and they usually develop with no problems, as the plant gets bigger and longer then i have to use elevated cups or shot glasses filled with moist moss to reach the tendrils

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good idea, I'll maybe try the elevated pots filled with sphagnum. But I know myself: an empty pot won't stay empty for long lol 😆

    The great video explained. My recommendation is to show pictures or videos of examples about the subject that you are talking about. Thanks for sharing your knowledge

    Great video! I'm having problems with only two plants: My Bicalcarata and my Hamata. Neither are growing pitchers. I think it is because one is very highland and one very lowland and my conditions are intermediate, so I am assuming that is my problem. I'm hoping eventually they adapt to these conditions, but we will see.

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are totally right, their needs (as night temperature) are too different. But hybrids of them would work :)

    • @JSTKSK
      @JSTKSK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WindowsillNepenthes Oh yeah, my Hamata x Spatulata hybrid is doing great. I have just seen some pure Hamata Lamuts grown on window sills. I'm not sure if that is just a clone of a very tolerant plant or if any of them can be conditioned to pitcher in those conditions. If I don't get any pitchers by next spring I plan on going back to terrariums, but I would rather have them in my window. In your opinion, how far can you condition a plant before I'm just wasting my time?

    Last year I had a heatwave AND my nepenthes really suffered the heat. They started growing the pitchers upside down. Now most of them recover ,but for one that hasnt given any new pitchers but has basal shot AND has grown a Lot.

    Any tips for a nepethesis x mercury? I am getting tendrils and almost pitchers but no actual pitchers. Also one of my plants is growing some odd leaves, some of the new stalks it is growing have deformed leaves. Deformed in that they will not create actual leaves but nubs with little black tips... has anyone seen this before?

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't grow it, but the parents would be (kampotiana x maxima) x (ventricosa x maxima) so it's ok for windowsill preferring warmer temperatures. Deformed leaves = stress, so possibly the lack of humidity, too cold or too hot temperatures, or even pest like thrips. You will have to investigate.

I thought it was dying so I moved it around and found it likes my bathroom hanging from the ceiling, it is more healthy there but it still has no new pitchers.. It has small embryos of pitcher but they are not changing or growing into small pitchers.. Can anybody help?

    • @WindowsillNepenthes
      @WindowsillNepenthes  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you conditions are good (light, humidity and temperature) maybe the plant just need time to adjust. Give it 2 month and see. But it's normal that the pitchers and leaves not produced under your care die.
