Most American tourists will never see these types of sights in England because they are so obsessed with visiting London...the least English place in the country.

I tell you no secret: The real life is in the countryside! Poor people in these nasty cities. In my country many kids think that cows are lilac. You wonder why? We have a sort of chocolate with such a cow on the wrapper ... No kidding

The most beautiful country on Gods green Earth...and remember don't complain about the rain, its why the land is so lush green and fertile...the wildlife is also very gentle, you can walk anywhere, lay down, take a Knapp and there is nothing that can really hurt you...I feel very privileged to call the UK my home...

well, one exception, the Adder snake, it has a nasty bite, and can kill, if young/ old/ feeble/or late in having treatment. Ironically, they are mostly found near stone walls like these; If suprised or attacked , watch out. Best make a noise, and keep your eyes open.

Blackporsche roadster MAN built the robots to do things man are not capable of doing - taking credit for the work robots do, and complete at much faster rates than any human man, would be ignorant of the human man. So calm down please, your anger is disabling you to foresee your belligerent, and quite comical, mistakes.

Nothing - and I mean, really, absolutely nothing - is more extraordinary in Britain than the beauty of the countryside.
Nowhere in the world is there a landscape that has been more intensively utilised - more mined, farmed, quarried, covered with cities and clanging factories, threaded with motorways and railway lines - and yet remains so comprehensively and reliably lovely over most of its extent. It is the happiest accident in history. ........US born author Bill Bryson

I thought I recognised the old West Riding and then the Malham sign came up...I'm a Brit (from the South), and last went there back in the 70's ...it's clearly still as beautiful as ever...
Those field dividers are actually "dry stone walls" - which means they're put together without any form of mortar - they're just interlocking stones put together by skilled people - they often stand for many years before needing maintenance.

All our counties have their scenic routes but like everywhere in the world, I expect, when you travel the same routes regularly, to commute or shop etc. you don't see the appeal, charm and calmness. Lovely to be reminded through another's eyes. Thankyou.XXX

The UK is the most self-deprecating place in the world with thoughts that everything on the Continent is better, while in the UK it sucks etc. I am sad because the UK is a very beautiful country, and we do not appreciate its beauty. Thoughts like "London is the ugliest capital in Europe", "Tower Bridge is tacky", "Edinburgh is ugly and rough", "York is nothing compared to the medium-sized cities of the continent", "St Paul's Cathedral is overrated" are not uncommon.

Yes, the idiot planners of the 60s and 70s did not respect the traditions and demolished buildings that were not destroyed by war across the UK. They should be arrested! In the case of York, I'm glad that most of the historic buildings are standing.

Bill Bryson , the American writer of repute, lived in the area with his family for several years. He described the Craven Dales, as the region is called, as probably the most beautiful place he had ever been. I'm familiar with the area having visited many times, and can honestly say he wasnt far wrong. I hope you enjoyed your visit and were able to explore more of the wonderful countryside Yorkshire has to offer.

I think Great Britain’s countryside is fascinatingly beautiful. At first sight it seems kind of „rough and cold“, but the landscape itself is so far and green, like it doesn’t end. There is something really special about it.❤️

I have seen many videos of German countryside, with great rivers and forested mountains; so beautiful and so different from Britain.
The English countryside can be wet, cold, muddy and no fun; but on a sunny day, with friends and walking to a good pub for a meal and a drink; this is what is best in life.
Especially when you discover something like a 'drover's road' along the way as I once did: a wide, green grass low road between ancient trees and high earth banks, where shepherds and cattle-men have driven their animals to market for a thousand years, and is now almost never used.

Roads are tiny and narrow houses are too close to road yet it was georgous. Every thing was funcitional. I mean everything went against coventional wisdom. In the states we have the suburbs and they really really suck. I mean they are clean and quiet but they have no personality. I doubt you have a video of our roads here in the states but yet when i was in the Uk last year i just couldn't take videos of the simplest things. Just the average public school were works of art. I don't like bashing my own country but after seeing the UK i feel like we are doing something wrong.

Tampa0123456789 You say that everything there in that tiny congested over cramped island is gorgeous and functional ? As a native born person in the U.S. I have to strongly differ with you on that assessment of England of yours there. What you are seeing and have experienced over there in England yourself is a foremost example of backwards thinking and poor spatial intelligence and metro planning as a result of them wanting to cling to the past by using those ancient archaic pathways that were used for horses and donkeys and are no way appropriate for automobiles for their tiny size lacking in adequate space for drivers. So, instead of improving their infrastructure, the English just prefer to be stuck in the 17th century and erroneously drive their cars on those ancient pathways that were intended for horses and donkeys and carts. This is in no way "beautiful" and advanced thinking but this is an example of mental retardation at it's finest on the part of the English and it's pretty pathetic and just makes them look rather silly. You can still have a beautiful picturesque countryside but have spacious roads through them without disturbing that serenity, you don't need to have a depressing backwards tiny congested over cramped village with ancient horse and donkey paths for that. And I have to disagree with you to a degree on your assessment of the suburbs in the U.S. as having no personality. No, you're quite wrong in that regard because many suburb areas in the U.S. do have quite beautiful picturesque landscapes with many natural wonders such as the stone creeks and the rivers running through the many undisturbed wooded forest areas and the many native wildlife of these areas which are their natural habitat. Maybe not all of them but many of the open spaces of the U.S. suburbs are something beautiful to behold and they do have personality and are the perfect places to escape to for the serenity that they offer and to find peace of mind. I also question your ideal standard of beauty for homes such as the tiny soulless structures in England that you are praising as such. You're putting homes up on a pedestal as your ideal standard architecture for such that are the equivalent to human dog houses for crying out loud. As for me, I'll choose those big spacious comfortable homes in the U.S. suburbs over those tiny little dog houses that pass for human habitation over there in England any day. And I'll say that the spacious suburbs in the U.S. are the ideal standard for living as opposed to the backwards miserable depressing tiny little congested over cramped villages over there in England that resemble a 3rd graders school project toy model built town.

One of the beauties of the UK is that you are only ever a few miles from countryside peppered with small towns and villages and subtlety changing topography. Accents alter as do the views and wherever you go you will see examples of the materials found locally being used in buildings. An example being this film or The Cotswolds which sits on a seam of limestone that runs from Bath to Lincoln and changes in hue depending upon where it’s quarried.
We, who live in Britain (Europe), walk daily through land shaped by farming since before the Romans. We pass buildings ranging from as far back as the 11th Century and speak with accents whose origins are older. I don’t think most of us register just how comforting that is to our souls, just how unconsciously those things reinforce our sense of self and our connection to an ancient, unbroken past. I think many that come here, particularly those who have colonial pasts, instantly get that, instantly understand its draw and fall in love with it.
You can get it in London, but please try to make time to travel to those small villages and towns too. And not just the tourist traps, they’re nice but it really doesn’t matter where you go, you will find amazing places and interesting people, no two the same.
    Nice footage by the way!

Those stone walls are artfully built in a style called dry-stone walling, which means it's the choice and laying of the stones; the shapes and angles that lock them together to last many decades.
They were first made when the field was first put to the plough (who knows how long ago), and are added to as more rocks are found or dug from the drainage ditches.
Often, these same stones are endlessly recycled to build and extend house, barn and cow-byres.
It's initially a lot of work, then you will never need building materials as long as the skill is not lost.
In areas with less stone, such as Somerset, you will see 'cut and-laid' hedges instead (branches half-cut through and turned horizontal to the ground, then woven into a living fence-like hedge), which causes field boundaries to be tall earth and hedge walls, sometimes twenty feet high.

'Swings and roundabouts' though, it's that green because of all the rain! The dividing walls in the fields are dry stone walls with no mortar, basically just stacked-up. Some had a few coins pushed into them for the workmen to spend at the local pub after a day's work.

I havnt visited abroad for over 16 years. I realised there's far too much of my own beautiful country to see. The weather doesn't bother me...I actually like it. I am English. The most beautiful place I have ever been to...several times now is Scotland. Your eyes will never fall on anything more beautiful than the Glenn's, Highlands, Trossachs, and lochs of Scotland. Your skin will prickle when you hear a lone piper in the Highlands. The lakes of Cumbria are a close second mind. Most beautiful country on earth?...easy...Bonny Scotland!

Iv been all round UK countryside all great. If you want a nice ride try mid Wales drive from Swansea to Brecon beacons and up to llandridod wells head around. West and try and get to Lampeter and down to Carmarthen. And another nice drive llandillo to Carmarthen on the A476 and then turn right onto the B4300 to Carmarthen and follow the river down and the best way is do it when Wales play England in rugby the roads are so peaceful and empty
