    You have really gone through a ton of work on this car. If your wife doesn't love the car and all of the work to get it perfect there is something really wrong. Thanks for sharing your very professional videos

      Thanks. Just a note, but this car isn't for my wife. I'm building a 68 coupe for her.

    A beautiful great job. I'm kinda partial to the fast-backs but it would be a tough decision, if I had the money :)

  • @Mikefngarage
    @Mikefngarage 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow that is different I painted my corners off on panel stands and jamed the fender areas before installing fenders then painted them bolted and aligned.

    • @JoDaddysGarage
      @JoDaddysGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This way you get paint and clear between the panels. Less risk of adhesion if you need to remove them later. It also helps the color flow. I can look at a car that's painted with panels laying differently than how they would be mounted, and I can see the difference in the paint.

    • @Mikefngarage
      @Mikefngarage 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      definitely looks nice. I like the fenders bolted on because aligning them after paint can cause scratches. Plus the bolts are painted unless your going chrome or stainless. never have a problem with my metallic looking the same or flowing nice on a panel stand upright as they are on the car sprayed at the same time. Only time I would do something like that if I were doing candy apple or something like that. Your paint looks really nice though.

    • @JoDaddysGarage
      @JoDaddysGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      True. I don't paint the bolts though. I believe the factory painted everything apart, and the bolts would be black. I do understand where you're coming from. At the body shop, we would paint all the collision stuff assembled. It' does make it easier overall.

    • @Mikefngarage
      @Mikefngarage 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely a really nice concourse job. I dont do that anymore life is just too short. It was nice in may out there I was out there in aug. OMG so hot especially in FL. I travel around painting for sign companies periodically.

    Looking good bud...got a couple of questions how much time you
    wait between base coat to clear coat, and do you sand in between?

    • @JoDaddysGarage
      @JoDaddysGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My PPG rep said clear needs to be applied within 24 hours. I don't sand between, but some people do.

  • @davebrittain9216
    @davebrittain9216 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wow looks really good! Same color as the 68 fastback I used to have. Bear would you mind having the owner come back when its all together for some shots of the completed car. It would really be nice to see the car from start to total completion. Thanks

    @Jo Daddy's Garage what brand of clear did you use and how many coats did you spray?, was the gun set at full power and a wide fan

    • @JoDaddysGarage
      @JoDaddysGarage  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a European clear, and I sprayed 3 coats. I don't know the gun settings. I just adjust to what I like.

    Great set of video's...amazing. Can you tell me more about your sand and buff part ? Did you start at 1500 or higher? I ask because I would be scared to death of touching it...lol. I am about to start the restore on a 1966 coupe so your videos as VERY helpful

    • @JoDaddysGarage
      @JoDaddysGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would have to dig into my supplies to answer that. I don't recall at the moment.

    • @arcorob
      @arcorob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL...I hear you

  • @arcorob
    @arcorob 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey Jo..still confused by something here ...you had blue paint below the cowl , before the fenders and doing the car ...did you base and clear that before the car or just base coat ? Also, when you sprayed the whole car , did you swing the doors open to get in there or was that done separate? I am asking because I am mentally planning mine out and want to learn from the best :-)

    • @JoDaddysGarage
      @JoDaddysGarage  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I sprayed the a pillar and kick panel blue prior to mounting the doors. That way it has the same color everywhere. No clear coat. I opened the doors to get color on the inside, as well as the clear.

    who do you recommend buying Quarter Panels for a 68 Mustang Coupe. I have ready that a lot of them have the 67 C Shape in the quarter.Thanks Harvey

    • @JoDaddysGarage
      @JoDaddysGarage  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't purchased any 68 quarters... yet. You're right though, some makers use a universal design for the 67-68 models. I buy my sheet metal from Mustangs Unlimited.

    Car looks amazing and the colour is awesome am surprised you didn't paint the doors and wings off the car to make it easier for you to paint. I can appreciate you keeping them on so you dont have any variations with the colour match and I know its a ball ache opening and closing the door to shoot your colour and clear and generally you can miss areas and have them dry areas too
    It's not a criticism it seems like a harder way for you .. but car looks fantastic

    • @JoDaddysGarage
      @JoDaddysGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do it this way for the best results. Since I'm not a production shop, I can do it this way.
