    What focus type settings would you use for outdoor shoots? I have a 70-300mm lens and I want to have the four models plus their surroundings in frame. Large Zone AD?

    • @Take_Nine_Studio
      @Take_Nine_Studio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I assuming it's a video shoot you are doing with the models, instead of worrying about the focus settings, I'd start by closing down the aperture so that the focal depth is wider/bigger - it'll give you a lot more flexibility and ensure that all your models will be in focus. Also since you'll be shooting outside, you won't need to worry as much about getting enough light into the sensor - so I'd start with a minimum 4.0/5.6 aperture. Also I'd consider sourcing a wider focal length with the lens, it's going to be challenge (unless you have loads of space to stand away from your models) to get them all in frame as well as their surroundings. Maybe consider a 50mm or 35mm... With regards to my focus settings, I tend to switch between single focus mode and tracking/facial tracking - 90% of the time it's single focus though... Hope this was helpful! :)

      Thank you so much I may have some more questions just trying to work it out

    • @1mangofruit
      @1mangofruit 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do have another question my lens is a 10-18mm if I am shooting in 60frames I can’t change the aperture lower than 4.5 so what do I do? Sorry if it is a silly question. And the same goes for setting the frames to 24 frames. Do you have a solution for me?

    • @Take_Nine_Studio
      @Take_Nine_Studio  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1mangofruit so your aperture settings are determined by your lens rather than your camera. If you look at the top/front of your lens you should see additional numbers like 3.5-4.5, 2.8 or 1.8, and so on... All lenses have either a fixed aperture or a variable aperture. In your case you likely have a variable aperture lens meaning when your lens is at its widest - 10mm - the more open you can have your aperture, and as you zoom in to 18mm focal length, the more closed down the aperture will be, making the most it can be opened to is about 4.5 (or whatever is displayed on your lens). I hope that all makes sense.

    Hey that's great info .
    I'm planning to get my 80d in the coming weeks . Still not sure if I should settle down for 80d or d7200. Won't be using the cam for video .
    Also can you should what the pictures would look like before and after the setting you mentioned in the video ?

    • @michaelrose2652
      @michaelrose2652 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The d7200 is still a great camera but if I had to choose and I did have to, I chose the 80d. I have no regrets. Like I said, both are great cameras but I chose the 80d.

      +The Textbook Travels thank you! 😁 Glad it’s helpful in some way! In video mode, if you press the Info button (to the right of the Menu button) a few times it should come up... If it doesn’t it may require some changes in the settings! I have it on a while so I can’t rememeber exactly!

    Great little video. The 80D is a killer camera. You do good work. I live in the US and always thought the rest of the world used PAL and was limited to 50fps until recently. I cant imagine life without 60 FPS 🤣 Feel free to check out how I use my Canon 80D on my channel.
