Grant, Thanks for sharing your settings with us. Appreciate it!
As soon as you tossed the manual, I subscribed.
LOL! Me too. That's my kind of guy. Hello from locked-down London.
Hahaha.
Thank u sir!
Thank you! This is one of the most helpful videos I've seen on these settings.
Thanks for this video! I just bought an 80D last week and am going to the F1 race here in Austin this next week and planned on taking some video. These tips should help immensely.
Good vid Grant. No fluff just straight into it. Well done.
Thanks for this video. I've had my 80D for a while now and I wasn't aware about some of the settings you pointed out. :) Very helpful and informative. :)
Had no idea that there were different quality SD cards. Great video! Thanks for making It!
Great tutorial. It was quick and didn't waste any time. I'm new to Canon so this was quite a help.
I just bought this camera and I’m using it for my TH-cam vlogs. It’s pretty awesome. I subbed and liked. Thank you for sharing
MarcAnthonyStorm - Follow The Storm I bc want this camera for my videos. How is it working?
Dylan Roberts it is a very good camera. I don’t have it now because I bought the 6 D MK II. It’s a true work horse and very good in low light. I just posted another video yesterday morning with some broll you can check out near the end of the video. I’ve been using this for about a year and a half now.
very useful Sir... I set up my 800D settings following this video... Got a nice result...
Hi Grant... Many thanks. Videos on this subject often tend to confuse the viewers but this one really hleped me out with the settings. Best wishes from here in India.

🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼 thank youuuuuu
For photography, I like using TV mode being able to control shutter speed easily, but I am new to video and don't know how to use it for filmography. Thanks for the video!
Really easy to follow! Thank you!
Great vid, thanks for the simplicity.
you are so good! Straight to the point! Thank you!
Audio levels can be controlled on the 80D while recording video using manual audio control by pressing the Q button. Both the audio level and the headphone level can be controlled either by using the touch screen or the top dial.
Thanks Grant! Will try on my next video! However it would be nice to have your professional explanation on a future video on your channel👍🏼
Awesome I've learned a lot from you!

great video. Thanks Grant.
Been checking you for some time now. Just subscribed. Just got a 80D to go with my gh4. All this started when I took a GoPro to NZL in March '15. Coming back next Feb/March '17. I'll be checking your audio vid for the 80D. Currently live in Santa Cruz Calif. Love NZL!!
Hope you enjoyed NZ with the GoPro, apart from the headphone jack monitoring on the 80D its pretty much the same as the 70D and have done a few videos on that on this channel. Cheers

Thank you very much. Very helpful. But everytime my camera is off it changes the mic volume setting by default. Is there a way to permanently store the recording volume for a custom setting

Nice Thank you 👌👍
Thanks man
Thanks for reply.
Loved it
Great video! Do changes made to recording mode cary over (overwrite) settings in photo-mode, or are they separate? They seem to share settings. Is there a way to create "presets" or a profile? one with settings primarily used for photo and one for video?
very very helpful txxxxxxxxxxxx 4 u

Helpful.
Thank you for the Video. Just picked up my 80D and realized that my quality wasn't as good as others but was using manual.
About to head to Sydney and do my 2nd ever travel vlog so will try these settings.
Grant- excellent demo.. thanks buddy.
I have recently brought this cam with 18-135 mm lens.
Do you also provide information regarding still photography settings- more interested in that- And m having
trouble in settings for d same.
thanks.
+DrDarshan Bosamia hi - no stills settings not my specialty sorry, I'm sure you'll find plenty on web. Cheers
I am in a PAL region. However, I noticed NTSC has more options and includes 24 fps. It may be better to set it on this option as default as video editing software can convert to PAL later.
You don't need PAL unless you record onto a PAL VHS and display it on a tube screen.
All flat screen TVs use 60hz (or higher) panels and electronics.
Do you have any info presentations on setting up/using a Webill S with said EOS 80D?
Hey grant! This weekend I shot using this video settings and it looks amazing!! Very cinematic!!! Thanks for such a nice tip pal! One question, would it be possible for you to show us how to set up canon 80D for a blury timelapse where all things that are moving are blury. I hope I explained myself correctly
+Tony I'll have a look at doing a video but essentially it's a matter of shooting your time lapse with a slow shutter speed to get that motion blur. Cheers
Or you can shoot a time lapse and do it in Manuel focus mode and just blur everything out. Hope this further helps.
Thanks Sir.
You're welcome
I like the way you throw that manual book 🙈
Hi, good video. Miss, I want you to help me with a problem, which I see appearing on your screen as well, namely: at the bottom left you have the MP4off icon, and then that icon with 3 lines / microphone of! What does it mean? Each time I insert the microphone (Bya MM-MM1), IT APPEARS ON THE SCREEN!
I also tried activating ATT and without ATT. He's still there when I turn on the microphone ... even though I have a sound ... but it's annoying.
can you help me please?
Thank you.
thank you.
when I got my 80d it blurred the background the first time I used it. Now it doesnt and I didnt change any settings I can get it to blur the background in my videos. What do I do?
how about for fast moving settings like a sports game? thank you in advance!
Thank you for the video! I am now owner of a canon80D, and I've followed your instructions. Do I Further need to do anything special? Like how the camera should save the files. Because its automatically MP4 right?. I am going to Hong Kong next week and I want to shoot some video's. I am sooo scared to lose files, or end up with files I can't edit @premiere. Is this possible...? ( Sorry for my english
this was a good video... but can u ask one thing. when setting to manual and shooting video i set my shutter speed to 50 (shooting at 24fps) but when going form place to place what happens with the iso and aperture settings? i heard somewhere to keep the iso below 1600 if poss and i like to keep it a 1.8 when possible but doesnt this cause a problem when going from a light are to a dark are compared to shooting on auto mode as the camera does it for you? is there a setting that can handle this better like TV etc? cheers
Hi Grant, thanks for the video. Informative. I've been taking sunset time lapse, but as soon as the sun starts to go down my video goes dark. What should I do to fix that? I've seen some on youtube where even when the sun goes down, you can still capture good video.
+canesrock82 it's going dark most likely because you have a fixed manual exposure set. I'm no expert in day- night time lapses sorry and it's a bit of a specialist subject. I'm sure there's plenty of info on web to help. Cheers
Thank you so much for that helpful video. What lens do you recommend for shooting video that doesn't make a lot noise when focusing? The older canon EOS cameras (T1i,T2i and so on) really had this problem since they were new to video within DSLR.
The canon STM lens are designed for silent autofocus or alternatively use an external mic.
Great video could you recommend a easy to use editing programme
Maybe have a look at Adobe Premiere Rush
Hi , when I use the 80d for video sometime when I’m moving there is a jump or stall on the video footage it’s only a split second but annoying, can you help.
Thanks.
Hi Grant. How do I turn off the Camera WiFi, it took me along time to get it to work with my android, now it works but I cant turn it off to operate the time lapse mode.
You throw away the manual again, so funny mate, when is going to be the course available ?
Ha - the course is up and live at learn.grantjohnston.me/p/shoot-better-video-with-the-canon-80d
Cheers
