    This video explains the wrestling move called Step Around Throw From Over Under.
    NCAA All-American Wrestler and D1 Wrestling Coach Jacob Kasper shows how to hit a very effective step around throw from the over under position.
    Fanatic Wrestling, like it’s sister site BJJ Fanatics was founded by a pair of grappling fanatics dedicated to bringing you the best wrestling competitors and coaches in the world to learn from. They both realized they were missing an entire section of the grappling community so the idea for Fanatic Wresting was born.

    Great throw. Versions by Pat Downey and Ben Askren also cool.

      Jon Trenge is also great at teaching this throw, calls it a Polish throw

    the great thing here is that you're blocking the opponent's leg from being used for stability. you throw & roll, but stop the momentum. nice.

    Is this throw kinda like a lateral drop, only in a different direction?

    • @TheRealOwen1230
      @TheRealOwen1230 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same idea trapping the leg as opposed to using it off their pressure

    • @andzrit
      @andzrit ปีที่แล้ว

      lateral drop relies more on instigated momentum
      step over relies more on trapping the knee, immobilizing the hips

  • @Garysmith2045
    @Garysmith2045 ปีที่แล้ว

    Does this end up causing damage to their knees ever? Something about dropping the hips directly down into the side of the knee from the outside makes me think it's gonna buckle their knee and damage the MCL on the other side.

      I wouldn’t think so cause you are life lying them up and over. If you were to go down on the knee and force their foot to stay on the mat (like a scissor sweep). It would be more dangerous

    Feel like an outside trip would work from the same setup with less effort, used it to win regionals

    • @justamurse5646
      @justamurse5646 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Outside trips rarely work at a high level, and you’re sacrificing your center of balance and a leg doing it. A good guy will toss you if you try to hook and trip. Inside trip is far more effective if it’s there.

      @@justamurse5646 Yeah you never see it much. I find the lateral is a nice with the inside trip both as a counter or a second attack if they defend it.

    Stay away from this in common sparring and just go for the over under. You can destroy a knee doing this wrong.

    this move doesn't make any sense. theres no way anyone would position their legs like that in a grapple lol
