I'm sry but in yr sambar recipe u have not mentioned about adding the daal. Is this sambar made with just veggies n the premixed sambar masala pwdr? How come no one noticed this fact? Pl reply soon thnks
Very nice! Interestingly, I have come up with almost the same recipe, for instant sambar but I use lemon juice instead of tamarind. Lemon powder also can be used. Your presentation is excellent. Took me back to my college days - I had a teacher who spoke with the same clarity and interest in the topic. ! All the best!

A guide of essential Indian legumes would be very helpful. Especially detailing the differences between whole, split & roasted including differences in taste, texture & usage. This is genius! You mam are a national treasure ❤I’m going to try and make the sambar and rasam powders today. I have an organic garden and spend a lot of time growing my own vegetables but hate cooking! Now I can whip up sambar within minutes after I pick my karelas and tomatoes. Thank you again 🙏🙏. Absolutely love your channel as I take my health very seriously. I live in UK and try to preserve my vegetables for winter. So I dehydrate courgettes and squashes and cauliflower and powder them and use the powder to make instant soup in winter. You could of course elaborate on this idea with a bit of imagination.

Thank you Suj!!! I do appreciate this recipe. I live by myself, and cook for one person, rarely make sambar, because it seems to be too much work to make a single serving of sambar. But this is epic. Just made the first batch. Will report back on the results, but the aroma of the podi is sufficient for me to feel great. I did however use a few pepper corns and fewer chillies. On another note, there are over 12,000 vies as of 12/09/22 and yet only 425 likes. Best wishes.

A great idea! What about asafoetida (hing)? Hing gives the classic sambar aroma. I think it can be added to the vegetables.

It's indeed a very useful recipe. But can we add hing, cinnamon and Marathi moggu, as we ad these in regular sambar powder
Hing can be added. What's Moggu? Cinnamon is generally not added in sambhar. But if you wish,you can add. Regards Sujata from Munch and Mull
