    You can bend the copper pipe by closing off one end with masking tape. Fill the pipe with sand packed tight. Seal the open end with masking tape. Now you can bend the pipe. The sand will prevent the pipe from crimping at the bend. It's a very old plumbers trick that works.

    Thanks, that helps a lot. Looks like the porter cable compressor is well and repairable. 👍

    The long Torx bits are useful. I bought 1/4" drive extra, extra long Torx bits for my Husqvarna riding lawnmower starter R&R, but I've since needed them for other things. When doing handyman stuff around the shop and house, you can never have too many tools.

    Had it apart, would be an excellent time to lubricate

    Make sure you drain your air compressor before attempting to fix it!! Parts are under pressure. Please reupload this video with a warning sort of as follows: "Before servicing air compressor drain tank!!"

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Seriously? The whole point of the video is that the tank has ZERO pressure because there's a broken air line that needs to be repaired...

    Greetings! I have a porter Cable Pancake compressor, manuf. in 2008, Model #CPFAC2600 Type 4, with what I believe is a head gasket leak. I ordered a Graphite Gasket Kit ( D30139 ), through a local tool shop, so I hope it's the right kit. Question: The plastic housing that covers the motor is held on by what I think are very small torx screws - would you know the size of these screws? You mentioned T-20 was used for these same screws on the model you're working on in the video, but these are smaller in size - thanks!

      I actually had to pick up a set of long-shaft torx bit screwdrivers to do this job. It was a good excuse to buy myself some new tools! I recommend you doing the same. It'll be great to have them, both for this and for future projects. Good luck.

    I have a Porter Cable pancake compressor that I haven't used in 15 or 20 years. It was always drained after every use. What are the chances that it explodes when I fire it up? What do I look for that would be an indication that it's unsafe?

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Judy, I would not worry too much about the compressor "exploding." I would plug it in and turn it on. The compressor shuts off automatically when it reaches the max pressure. If it would make you feel safer, just stand at a distance while the compressor runs and builds pressure.

      @@Buckwsr Thanks for the reassurance. I'll switch it on and take cover. 😆

    I have the same pancake compressor but it only gets to 40 psi and never shuts off as it never reaches pressure. Any thoughts on what to look for?

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sounds like there must be a leak somewhere that you have not yet identified....a pinhole leak in the tank, or one of the hoses, or one of the fittings...maybe the drain valve at the base of the tank....some small leak that is preventing the pressure from building and holding.

      @@Buckwsr I checked the tubing. I removed the piston. Not sure. I ordered the new piston in case it is worn out. It is 18 years old. 😀

    What size torx screwdrivers do I need

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't remember....I bought a set of 6 or 8, various sizes....one of them worked....

    Com quanto tempo o compressor desarma sozinho?

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      After two or three minutes of running, when the compressor reaches about 150psi, it shuts down and is ready for use.

    Easy peezy if you have a freakin 12" long torx wrench just laying around in your toolbox. Wonderful.

    • @Buckwsr
      @Buckwsr  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, I didn't have them laying around. I had to order some, and put the project on hold while waiting for them to arrive!
