    *After years of hauling around a large,💫 **allabout.wiki/PORTER** heavy, loud dewalt air compressor (that ironically was advertised as quiet, supposedly 78dB), I bought this. Facepalm. While it is not ‘silent’, I find myself chuckling every time I use it, sparing all my neighbors the terror of my former compressor. I use for inflating tires, impact wrench, finish nailers. Absolutely love it. And I store it under the garage sink in a 24” cabinet. I paired with a coil 1/2”, instead of a my former 50’ 5/8” hose that I had to lug across the yard from the shed, unpleasantly uncoil.... this little guy is light and portable; just a joy. Impact wrench is still capable of easing lug bolts, flywheel bolts, crank pulleys... just allow for a tiny bit of recovery now and then.*

    • @bbbjim1fixedit

      @@bbbjim1fixedit Thanks very much for the video. I did the replacement and it went well. Seems to be working now. Also, funny that not only do we have exactly the same compressor but we also have the same SnapOn screwdriver that I used the same way as you.

    Was there anything visibly wrong with the old piston; i.e., cracked, warped? What actually was replaced? Is the rod integral with the piston? Is there a compression ring?

    • @bbbjim1fixedit
      @bbbjim1fixedit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The seal on the top of the piston was worn. Took a long time to fill the air tank. The piston comes with attached connecting rod, which is only to be mounted in one direction. It is marked as to place a certain side out. The head needs to be removed because the new piston comes with a piston sleeve and the piston is inserted in the top. Best of luck to you in your repair.

      The camera was not showing what the Piston damage looked like. The Piston was not in view of camera

    Great work.
    How much was your replacement piston?
    I’m having an issue with mine where tank pressure charges to 150 psi
    But then slowly leaks dropping tank psi down to 100 before recharging all over again.
    (That’s w/o using an accessory) Not sure what symptoms these dictate.
    Hanks,

      I would guess your couplers are worn, causing the slow leak. I purchased the replacement piston on EBay, do not remember the price, but they sell them around $30. Best of luck to you repairing your compressor.

      Could be the check valve that screws into the tank as well.

      I would check the alignment of the pulley and the bearings. I wish you the best on your repair
