The Security guy is so surly. Attitude and everything. No thank you for your service. I was flying into Cairns , Australia from Guam on Continental Micronesia. They had a customs and immigration rep wandering the baggage claim area asking random passengers many of the same questions this guy was asked. The guy was so polite and friendly, joked a bit regarding the plane we had flown in on. He asked me if this was my first trip to Australia. I told him no, it was my 8th. Asked where we were staying, what we planned on doing etc. Told him I had 8 Australian friends flying in from Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane for the 10 days and he was happy with all the answers, wished us a enjoyable stay in Cairns and left. A much nicer experience for me than this poor guy endured.
Obviously you do not have to have a very high IQ nor the ability to speak English all that well, to be a security officer at this airport. I would have not called him "sir" either, but that is no criticism of the passenger, he is no doubt trained to be respectful. But what an embarrassment the security guy is to the airport in general. Can hardly put a sentence together.
Why does he need to thank him for his service? I really don't understand the American mentality here. I don't expect to be thanked for the things I've done. I got paid for the job I signed up for - that was enough for me. I would be mortified and embarrassed if people kept thanking me for that, or giving me preferential treatment...
@@Penguin_of_Death Probably because of the possible risk to his life while serving. Could you die easily at your job? Probably not. That's why the military is thanked for their service. FWIW, I've traveled many times internationally and have never been questioned/grilled like this. Ever. Not even close. There are always a few questions -- length of stay, purpose of trip, etc. But as other posters have mentioned, I think the reason that the same question was asked in different ways was to ensure that the answer(s) didn't change.
Yep, happens to me all the time even when I travel with my wife who’s American. But I’m not. And I have an accent. So, 9/10 I get “randomly” pulled aside and asked these many questions and more. I get it, it’s all security. But it’s always the same...and it gets old. Funny thing is I’m a Federal Official And have been cleared by homeland security, FBI, and Health and Human Services on a yearly basis because of my job. So again, it gets old. Can’t even enjoy leaving and coming home peacefully for/after a vacation.
I have. Especially when flying to/from Mexico. I always just assumed it was because those flight routes were high-risk for drug traffickers. There’s probably a reason why they chose to screen folks boarding this flight to Japan.
Hey glad that you just answered his questions and did not get defensive. Most people now days just can't do that anymore. I got pulled over for speeding a while back, Complied with the office and I was on my way. No drama and they did their job and no one got hurt. That is how it should be. Thanks for sharing and keep the smiles and laughs. Thanks for your service as well!
middle passenger (3:05) "Oh, I have to get up." No, please, stay there, I'll just jump over into the seat with my Batman wings... (sarcasm intended). THIS is what takes so long to board planes. Instead of boarding groups by rows, they should do all the window passengers first, then middle then aisle seats.
I always think the same thing about movie theaters or any place where large groups meet....IDIOTS that sit on the end aisles then gripe out people that need to get by them....MORONS.
monitorlizard1 Yeah, because that would be so much easier running around in the waiting area trying to line them up in that order... One person doesn’t line up and they’ll be looking for him for 5 minutes then theres always people in a rush who aren’t going to be willing to sit down until they’re supposed to get in line and are just going to stand up in line. Trust me the way it is right now is the most effective way possible I could possibly think is out there. It will take usually around 20-30 minutes this way (all depending in the size of the airplane) where as I honestly think that would take close to an hour to do. You’ve also still got to put people with disabilities or children travelling alone on the plane in their seats first too. Maybe it would work in a perfect world where everyone would be there on time and cooperative with what they are told. But it never will.
Ah Karen! Who doen'st have a clue what we do. Just her entitled opinion. Ma'am, just keep walking, nobody asked you anything. We select individuals who fail to blend in. "Bro", "dude" and "pal", among others are for friendly situations only (friendly being informal interaction with friends/family). Learn any other language and there is clear formal and informal pronouns; in English, the formal pronouns are "sir" and "ma'am".
No the officer was doing his job. In non-broke country like USA we expect our police to inspect people from smuggling money and drugs out of our country as is their duty. I've been flying for years. I've learned that if you mind your manners and have a good attitude when talking to security, they tend to be much more friendly and flexible. Most will even help you get to your plane faster through shortcuts. So always be nice to security weather you love or hate it.

Eddie Duarte he's essentially looking for inconsistencies in his story. The redundant questions are to ensure he's telling the truth and that his story doesn't change However, I did find it strange that they would station themselves on the jetbridge and not do the interview before entering the gate / going through TSA. Seems a bit odd to me...
john walker not sure. This might be a random screening. However, CBP officers are trained to look for certain details and behaviors during these interviews so the redundant questions are to make sure your story sticks. If it didn't you'd be in trouble
Naomi Evans-Wright I'm not really sure. These are usually behavior detection officers, so it's probably a random screening (or they're looking for someone). I do find it strange to do it at this point right on the jetbridge also :-/
Years ago I got stoped at my local airport by police on a flight to Amsterdam. He laughed when I told him why I was going then wanted details more for his own personal research I think.
You fail to understand the point of police. They're here to ensure our safety and happiness. Sure, true "freedom" would be having literally no laws, no police officers, no money, no one stopping you from doing anything. It would be an absolute mess. With the way our society is structured, you need police officers to maintain order.
Loki, u wrote nonsense. If u like living under dictatorship named U.S.A., or "structured" society as u put it, then call it what it is loud and clear and let not the govt brain wash World about "freedom and democracy".
@@elhaci910 What I wrote is not nonsense, it's what I believe. I believe that society needs to be structured. This country is not perfect, and I've got countless problems with it, especially in our current state of government. But it's had a pretty good run, and I agree with the ideals of freedom the country runs on. That being said, the word "freedom" would imply total freedom to do literally anything you want. And with a species as intelligent as the human race, it really isn't going to work that way. We've built ourselves into a society in which money runs the world, and it's not going to be easy to get out of that if anyone wants to. Point is, this world runs off a very structured system and we are not free to do literally anything we want- what we ARE free to do is pursue our own happiness, say what we believe, and believe what we wish to believe. It's our right to determine our own destinies. And nobody would be able to do so if this country was flown into total anarchy. This is where the police come in. They're here to enforce laws put in place to ensure each citizen is treated properly and has an equal right to pursue their dreams. They aren't taking anything away from you, they're only going to stop you if your goal is to hinder someone else in life, or you accidentally might end up hurting someone. Really, just about everything they do is to keep you from hurting yourself or other people. This video shows an officer of the law puling aside someone at a seemingly random security check. 9/11 was a complete tragedy, and nobody wants that to happen again. It showed that there are truly evil people in this world who will take advantage of what they can, and ruin countless lives of innocent people. This person being checked was probably entirely innocent, but the TSA tends to pull random people aside in security checks as it is just as a precaution. They can't do everything, but they do what they can. Plus, just a reminder that nobody is forcing him to be at this airport anyway. If you really wanted to avoid dealing with this entirely, you could drive, you could take a plane, you could take a bus... airplanes are a service provided for citizens that are not necessary, but extremely efficient. There is also a large risk factor brought to light by 9/11, and safety precautions must be taken. If you are really truly against those precautions, then you don't have to fly. It's a privilege to take an airplane, not an unalienable right. The USA is far from a dictatorship. It's got problems, sure, and I will in no way pretend this is a perfect place. There are so many issues with the way this place is run and there is definitely at least a little shady stuff behind the scenes. But the ideals this country are founded on, basic human freedoms, are actually protected by the police. I think people fail to see often that the police, though seemingly enforcing laws, truly exist to protect people and serve them. They're here because not every human being is honest, and we do need to be kept in check. Otherwise there's total chaos, and no one is happy. Some police overstep boundaries, and it's a shame that they do that. But as a whole, the police force is one of the most noble things this country has, and they're honestly heroes for what they do. Most of them, like you, believe in freedom.
In the United States, you have to go through the third degree before you board a flight to Japan???? I have not traveled in ten years and I am glad I do not travel anymore.
What impressed me about this was the seating. Not a chance would I fly to Japan being crammed in like that. It's a long flight. That is why I will not fly anymore. Once you get on, you are stuck. Last flight I took, it was so cramped that my 4' 11" wife was uncomfortable. I've flown a lot of miles but, fortunately, it was in the 70s before they confused people with sardines.
ardvarkkkkk1 Yeah. These 10+ hr flights can be pretty unbearable. At one point I got up and just stood in the back section of the plane to stretch my legs.
I did fly to Japan and I'm 6'1" and it was Hell after 3 hours. When I flew to Romania I had to sit with my knees up! Then the lady in front of me moved her chair back and nearly cracked my knee caps. I asked her nicely if she could move up a little and she did...a little bit. I can't take it anymore.
Protip: Book early and book the emergency exit rows. You get a LOT more leg space as this is where the emergency doors are located, so you've got the same space as an aisle in front of your seat.Sometimes it costs a little extra. If you're in a frequent/preferred flier program, you can usually get these upgrades for free. Checking in early and asking nicely can also sometimes do the trick.
If you don't want to be a entilted asshole, or get tackled, I wouldn't. The reason cops use force sometimes is because people make things alot harder than they need too.
@@terrylunsford352 If I already passed the security checkpoint/any gate (pre-boarding) random bag/boarding pass check then I am free to walk to the plane. The United States is slowly turning in to a police state; they have way too much power. I understand that they were security, but the "let me see your papers" thing never happens in the UK.
Bullshit - you have teams of immigration enforcement officers that set up camp anywhere (often nowhere near entry ports) and are authorised to have stop and check your status if they claim any subjective probable cause: e.g. he looked nervous when he saw us there.
Border security agents can act like this anywhere. I just watched one where an Australian agent demanded to look through someone's laptop to search for child porn, and the reason for the hassle was because the person didn't have a lot of money in their accounts.
This was not a "security squad." These were US Customs and Border Protection Officers, fully within their province to be asking these questions. Detailed questioning of outbound passengers usually occurs when they are looking for a specific individual that may be trying to leave the United States without detection.

This is the American 'value ' he did his service for ?
@@Penguin_of_Death Probably because of the possible risk to his life while serving. Could you die easily at your job? Probably not. That's why the military is thanked for their service. Or they have no other options and are at the end of their financial rope.

Looking for child traffickers perhaps? Especially since they focused on the young woman, initially
Well they were a bit fucked then as he was the last passenger on the plane..

FWIW, I've traveled many times internationally and have never been questioned/grilled like this. Ever. Not even close. There are always a few questions -- length of stay, purpose of trip, etc. But as other posters have mentioned, I think the reason that the same question was asked in different ways was to ensure that the answer(s) didn't change.
perhaps the " i was stationed part" is important...as they want to make sure that a soldier isn´t go " off duty" just by leaving? I don´t now.

There’s probably a reason why they chose to screen folks boarding this flight to Japan.

monitorlizard1 Yeah, because that would be so much easier running around in the waiting area trying to line them up in that order...

However, I did find it strange that they would station themselves on the jetbridge and not do the interview before entering the gate / going through TSA. Seems a bit odd to me...
do security ask all those questions in this video
john walker not sure. This might be a random screening. However, CBP officers are trained to look for certain details and behaviors during these interviews so the redundant questions are to make sure your story sticks. If it didn't you'd be in trouble
Matt Seifman I see what you’re saying but if they got through security and everything then why does someone need to ask more questions?
Naomi Evans-Wright I'm not really sure. These are usually behavior detection officers, so it's probably a random screening (or they're looking for someone).

Nice police state you got over there..land of the free😂😂
You are right on point!

Protip: Book early and book the emergency exit rows. The United States is slowly turning in to a police state; they have way too much power. I understand that they were security, but the "let me see your papers" thing never happens in the UK.
With over 1 million illegal immigrants hiding in the UK it should.
Bullshit - you have teams of immigration enforcement officers that set up camp anywhere (often nowhere near entry ports) and are authorised to have stop and check your status if they claim any subjective probable cause: e.g. he looked nervous when he saw us there.
What do you mean "slowly"? 😄😄
Border security agents can act like this anywhere. I just watched one where an Australian agent demanded to look through someone's laptop to search for child porn, and the reason for the hassle was because the person didn't have a lot of money in their accounts.
The security squad there looks like it’s doing a great job of security all leaning around like a gang in the same place.
This was not a "security squad." These were US Customs and Border Protection Officers, fully within their province to be asking these questions. Detailed questioning of outbound passengers usually occurs when they are looking for a specific individual that may be trying to leave the United States without detection.
James Moninger it was just a joke brother
and that people is how you deal with seemingly stupid questions but a confrontational official
You were so polite and courteous. You must have great family support. Anyway yay to yay.
Well now that he knows your entire life story, "have a safe trip"
I'm glad the officer Is doing his job , it may seem excessive but it may very has saved a bunch of lives and we don't even know about it ..
Well done, way to stay polite and respectful! I wonder what those exit interviews are for. Iran does those too.
