    Sod all the nay sayers about line of sight, height, distance! I'm not an Everton fan, i'm a WBA for my sins but i have watched your videos since they started, i think what you do is fabulous and very informative. As somebody who likes modern architecture and especially football stadiums, your work is a great watch and always enjoy your commentary. Keep up the good work Mr Drone, its a pleasure

    Great update as always Nick. I went passed our stadium earlier today. I had never noticed it before but the roof has a dome effect of some magnitude. I watch some lads on the east elevation at the section of the barrel cladding and the roof above the new shop entrance. It towered so much higher the lads standing there. Really impressive. Best of luck to Geoff for his procedure and swift recovery. From a blue in Philippines. I'm still convinced I can see Leitch design at either end of South stand above walkway. But I think it's just metalwork that will be covered. Anyone else thinking the same, or just me?😊

      @davidbadcock2225 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Steven: if you want people to answer your question meaningfully, adding a timestamp and reference points at that time really helps them to see the exact feature to which you are referring.
      I think you may be referring to the black steels that are at either end of the Viewing Gallery. They are merely an engineering necessity and crossed diagonal steels are a regular feature in many buildings. It's not unique to GP, BMD or anywhere else. A lot of bridges have them, for instance.
      Anyway, you correctly predict one other aspect, which is that they will not be seen in future. Before too long they will be installing panels made of the same anodised aluminium as the barrel-cladding in a curved form, as the barrel-cladding, but without any of the perforations.

    Question: Do you know exactly what is happening with the water channel i.e. how it will be constructed? They've obviously shored up the side nearest the stadium using rebar and spray-concrete, but is the same thing going to be done for the other 'wall' and the remainder of the floor of the channel? • @DuncTheBlue1878
      @DuncTheBlue1878 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think there are 6 exits in the wall along Regent Road. The club have conducted modelling to show what will happen after the final whistle, and it’ll be fine - better than Goodison. Also, the club want as many fans to stay in the stadium as possible - to have a drink at the bar or eat in the many restaurants. So, not every single one of the 52,888 fans will be exiting at the same time

      They’re air exhaust vents. They’re placed over extractor fans from hospitality e.g. kitchens. The west is the main stand and, therefore, has more hospitality. So, it has more vents. The east stand has less hospitality and, therefore, fewer vents. The spacing, size and number of vents is dictated by the extractor fans, not by symmetry.

    Nick, what a shame that you were thwarted by the rain. Joke warning: I thought one of my screens had gone on the blink when I saw your top.
    1) I thought that my references for the 'Capping' were clear and it would seem that most people understood even if you hadn't grasped it quite. For both the North and South windows, they are installing coving or fascia, choose your terminology, in the form of 'grey' panels, from the glass itself outwards to meet the lip of the barrel-cladding, to the side, or the Standing-seam roof, at the top. However those panels, up until now, have finished short of covering the gap between them and the outer edge of the barrel-cladding, such that the sides of the barrel-cladding frames that hold them in place were still to be seen. But now they have started to cover that gap at the every ends with another small greyish-toned panel in the same mode as the panels that are the coving/fascia already described, thus making good the close finish.
    2) Clearly they have at last set about finishing off the dummy window panelling at the extreme SE end of the Viewing Gallery, which was my intended leading Q you used. Maybe soon they will set about installing the end curvatures of the Viewing Gallery which, if still following the plan, will be more anodised aluminium sheeting, like the barrel-cladding, just without any perforations.
    3) Although previously requested, I don't know whether you intended, before rain stopped play, to highlight the wind baffles that have started to be fitted on the first black post of the overhang at the E end of the North Stand?
    4) Although previously requested, I don't know whether you intended, before rain stopped play, to highlight the balustrades being installed between the old Dock Granite Coping Stones and the pedestrian areas along the West Quay?

      Marko: Colin has replied correctly. The outline plan was for it to be a combined cafe and museum (unspecific about EFC or BMD or both). EFC haven't committed yet to the specific final plan. Longer term it was mooted to also become the northern terminal of the planned Mersey Walk all the way from the National Gardens past the other three of the four graces and the old hexagonal Victorian Clock Tower.

Is the whole outer edge due to be capped with something (guttering or whatever) do you know? @@DuncTheBlue1878 thanks. I understand now, I just hope that it's not too noticeable from ground level as the lack of symmetry stands out (for me). But as Nick more or less said if that's all you have to worry about regarding the stadium then they've done a great job.....

    • @davidbadcock2225
      @davidbadcock2225 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Halty: I'm afraid that Dan Meis (DM) the architect decided to stomp over everyone's OCD for perfect symmetry. What I am writing won't change your outlook on life, nor this stadium, but this explanation of the architect's intention might at least allow you to see it a little differently.
      DM wanted to allow for some aspects of obvious symmetry but not in every single aspect. New stadia have increasingly resorted to sterile, uniform, perfectly symmetrical, blob shapes, which then have no 'character' or alternative points of interest.
      You wouldn't attend an art gallery if there was only one modern, cuboid art piece or one sculpture of a perfect sphere, especially if another gallery had exactly the same.
      So, DM's intention was to make sure that, even though there is a unifying principle to the whole stadium, every stand was different in shape and nature and every view, internally and externally, being different too, by default.
      One way of doing so was to reflect the compromise decisions that had to be made for engineering and location, but also to celebrate the engineering that has been undertaken (not quite as far fetched as Lloyds of London's inside out appearance). It's intended to provide a feeling of organic growth that you will see in older stadiums, such as GP, where every stand is different.
      Anyway, your OCD plight is definitely not singular and your comment is one that has been made lots of times but i hope that you can at leas understand the intention and grow accustomed to it, even if it's not a natural bed for you to lie in.

      Olly: what you have just noticed is the one of the old Dock Gates that would have swung out to cover half the gap to the other side. There is another Dock gate buried on the other side. There is another pair at the Northern end too. It will be being left as it is, required by the Heritage Stakeholders. It will be clearer when they have cleared away all the sand off it due to it having remained buried since very early on in the whole project.
      Contrary to what others are stating here, it will not have waterproof concrete applied to it and neither will there be a concrete base applied to the water channel in front of it.

      James: broadly-speaking the other replies have covered the topic. However, there are plenty of potential branding opportunities identified in the approved plans from September, 2020, and the list is quite long (if you want to know more, then let me know). That said, the eventual finish will depend on the results of the naming rights project being undertaken by a US Specialist. LoR will not be involved in any of the customisation process, which will be undertaken by EFC through separate sub-contracts, much as they've done at GP over the years.
