Nick, you seem wistful as if pre-pining for past glory days associated with this build and a feeling of loss for direction and motivation. I hope the mood passes and that all is well in your life. "Friedkin Good News", goes the punned headline . . . PoI's: 1) Stephen and I had seen the large yellow, telescopic crane located on the SW Quay of Nelson Dock, on the other side of the bridge from the LoR Car Park, not the NW Quay of Nelson Dock/SW Quay of BMD. But as it's a mobile crane the chances of it still being sat there at the time you visited were highly unlikely too. I think the crane had been used to lift the chunky Black Posts into position for the Wind-Baffle structure on the SW concourse. 2) I am copying in here my other responses to Q's about the Wind Baffle Structures, which have a bit more detail . . "Well, the Visualisations aren't all that helpful as they're loaded with artistic licence, in regard to the definitive final plans to be enacted. At first, the layout of the Western Terrace was a complete full-height brick-facade extension of the West Stand almost up to the water Channel and with a Multi-Storey Car Park on the West Quay too. That overall concept had brick flying buttresses off the West Stand extension, as you'd expect to see at a cathedral, but the 'mass' was rejected. The result of the mass rejection was broadly the design we see now but the visualisations in the Sept 2020 plans did not have the Wind Baffle 'Gates' showing at all, so there's been doubt as to whether they WOULD make an appearance finally. Some off-shoot visualisations DID show them. I have access to the plans that show the following: A) Wind Baffle Gates at both ends of the 'mezzanine', with the NW end being a smaller combination than at the SW corner. B) As can be seen now, the SW structure will comprise: 1) nearest the Mezzanine, a 5m wide pair of hinged gates, which will be made of dark-grey aluminium at a 50% porosity, 2) in both the middle section and outer sections, there will be 10m wide roller shutters made of the same material: dark-grey aluminium with 50% porosity. C) At the NW end the structure will comprise: 1) next to the northern perimeter fence, a 5m wide pair of hinged gates in dark-grey aluminium with a 50% porosity and 2) next to the mezzanine corner, a 8m roller shutter in the same material, of course. D) In addition at the NW end, the drawings show that they'll add an overhead cover over the rectangular area defined by the new gates structure, the edge of the north end of the mezzanine, the NW corner of the Brick Facade and the North perimeter fencing, with the paneling being . . . . you guessed it, dark-grey aluminium at 50% porosity. Personally I hope they don't do this last feature as I think it will attract a lot of birds and their muck. 3) They are getting on quickly with the under-structure for what should be composite decking on the Lower Promenade, which will mimic wood, and therefore, the appearance of a jetty. 4) The mass layout of protective 'matting' in the SE area of the East Plaza, suggests they're going to be busy with equipment in that area soon enough. About time. They have plenty to do, in that corner including the southernmost Regent Road Tower Gate area and along the wall. they will have to remove the temporary units at some point too, in order to lay the granite and cobbles in those areas. 5) At 7:40 mins and later, it's noticeable how the barricades on the West Quay get progressively taller going northwards, particularly in front of the DNOC (aka "Media Centre"). Now IF I had a hand in it, I'd be making sure those taller barriers had the gaps between the posts filled with EFC 'Imagery' fencing. 6) The pairs of Companion Seats on the Accessibility Platforms first appeared in the NE corner about 2 weeks ago and they've been adding the others since. It was pointed out in previous PoI's. 7) It looked as though they've completed the spreading of the sand, under-soil layer for the pitch itself. Next up, a soil layer.
Hi nick great video as always the takeover is massive in my opinion for us as a club hopefully we see a brighter future future all round a the fact he owns as roma means he has a lot of previous running of big club in all aspects coyb 💙💙
Nick, will you send the drone up to cover the EITC legacy project when they start works on the old lady when we finally move stadiums? Keep up the good work mate and there are always plenty of Everton related stuff you could do with the drone 😊
The wind baffle gate structure that you highlight at 6:30. I recall seeing a similar structure in earlier CGI videos, but without actual gates. I had thought it would be a kind of vertical wind blower (can't think of the proper name for such a device) to act as an air barrier. The gates you refer to, don't appear on any earlier EFC videos, and up until now, they have been very accurate with their CGI drawings,

@@davidbadcock2225 Big thanks for the details. Having had years of battling the wind on the Strand and the Liver Buildings back in the 70s, mitigation of the winter winds loomed large in my mind. This looks a really good solution. Thanks again. Now, what were we saying about the exterior gates, transport, parking and tripping hazards? :)
Agreed. The Debt Free solution being aired is very positive news for sure. Continuance of the years of doubt and uncertainty hopefully coming to en end. Roll on the external works activities that need closing out before handover. That's only 6 weeks away. No doubt Laing O'Rourke managment skill is being applied to counter the change is season. Great as always to see the detail.
Your new stadium is looking great, keep up with your excellent work, for new projects going forward your new owners have a lot of resorts you could have a look at, 🎥 Grand old Team(s) 2 play for
Would love to see our club crest on each corner of the stadium on the brick cladding, Use our latest badge and our most successful mid 80's badge, so 8 crests in total and use 4 each of the two crests I've mentioned
Love the colourful badge of the 200's looks very impressive on the shirt I still have and wear. Not the plain non existent one nowadays. Please change the current badge.
The stadium looks great looking at it from the south its got a unique look.i wish it was at least 55k seats though, the east stand had more glass on the outside and seats were a darker blue
Hi Nick can’t finish just yet mate got to watch the new grass grow 😂 When you do eventually stop this one always love watching the ones on the history/historical buildings in the area especially not being from the city!! So much so that my brother & I are coming up next May to visit!! Fancy a job as a tour guide?!!🤣 Cheers Dave C
I am looking forward to see now it's nearing completion as to how they 'Everton' it up a bit. I get the need perhaps for plain seats depending on sponsorship....but for me it really does need the Bullens Road's EVERTON in the seats recreating on one of the side stands, if not both. If they do that, I'll be happy whatever
Neil: this has been a repetitive Q since Nov 2023. At 16:26 mins in this video, if you look closely at the walkway through the trusses of the North Stand (look behind and in line with the top of the big screen at this specific timestamp) you can see clusters of 4 spotlights mounted on the front edge of the walkway. They look a bit like ANPR cameras with aluminium cowls. LED lights are so powerful these days that the mountings can be so small. The walkway goes right around the roof trusses of all four stands and the spotlights are all in clusters of 3-5. Although they will have tested them individually for connection, they haven't tested them all as a group for actual light effect, as they will need equipment located on the pitch to do the audit for equal brightness across the whole area. They can't do that until the pitch is no longer fettered by equipment and ongoing work, I think. Watch this space for the first full-on testing, probably in the next month or so.
The different coloured seats in clear sections will be corporate sections where they change from the normal plastic seats to the padded ones for hospitality. You can see this on the East Stand too around the halfway line.
Stephen: Yes, I had another one of those rolling eyes, sighing and "Oh, Nick!" moments. I'm well passed the shouting at the screens phase. Chasing a mobile crane at the best of times is unlikely to be successful but then add to that the fact that Nick can't tell the difference between "SW Quay of Nelson Dock" and the NW Quay of Nelson Dock/SW Quay of BMD meant it was always going to be just wasted footage.
Interesting how Kevin Ratcliffe mentioned on how big the climb is from the home stand exits to the back of the stands. he said it would take you all of half time just to get in and out. I said this years ago that there were not enough exits in the home stand
@@davidbadcock2225 The seats in the corner quadrants ,three sections only have two exits and none for the centre section. I am sure calculations must have been done in advance but it stuck out like a sore thumb to me and for Ratcliffe to mention it twice backed that up. There is also the physical aspect of the climb, many people my age are not disabled but would struggle to get up and down with drinks etc if at the middle of the back row. Even Ratcliffe looked like he had a dodgy hip or knee like many of us. We will see what transpires but in Hong Kong rugby 7's stadium they have girls with beer tanks on their back serving beer to you in your seat
@@johnjonesToffeeman It is a concern for sure. I thought it a long time ago but due to my somewhat 'acquired status', I considered it might not be helpful if I blurted it out when there is genuinely no engineering resolution, only the form of solution you hypothesise. We don't need negative sentiments. What your hypothesis does not solve, however, is the other end of the biological process of consumption of beer (or alternatives)! 🤔😉🤐
@@davidbadcock2225 We will see David. I will also include kale smoothies,Avodardo juice not only beer in the girls backpacks or should I say persons backpacks?
Can you have a look on the roof on the entrance to the club shop ( east stand) I'm sure it wasn't finished in corners were it meets the east stand, I'm sure it wasn't finished last year.
Hi Nick, thanks again for the video and for the continued dedication of you and the other drone pilots to provide fans with footage of BMD. My question to you / those with knowledge of the build is will the areas in the east / west and north stand which are between the upper and lower tiers be converted into hospitality boxes or will they be a mixture of boxes and walkways / something else? I can see there is already an area in the North West area of the stadium that resembles a series of hospitality boxes. Rich
The ‘executive boxes’ above the vehicle access tunnel in the north west corner will be the TV studio, with the match day security surveillance room next door
Richard: this will be a lengthy reply. Let's start from the NW corner, above the Pitch Access Tunnel, before going clockwise. 1) The south/left hand half of the glazed area is for the Stadium Security Hub. The North/Right-hand half of the glazed area is for the TV Studio. 2) The long platform at the tier-gap that exists for about two thirds of the N Stand is for Accessibility Function, so you should expect to see pairs of Companion Seats fitted there. 3) The NE corner has a break in the tier division format as it's where the Away Fans are located right up to the back, so there is a form of open corridor at the back wall. 4) At the start of the E Stand the first quarter is for E Stand Hospitality Accessibility function, so expect to see pairs of Companion Seats there. 5) The central half of the E Stand is for E Stand Corporate/Hospitality Boxes, so it will have plush seats in front of the glazed area. 6) The last quarter of the E Stand is like the first quarter of the E Stand, and is for E Stand Hospitality Accessibility function, so expect to see pairs of Companion Seats there. 7) The S Stand is merely a wall, of course, as you know. 8) For the first section of the S end of the W Stand will have a short stretch of Companion Seats for W Stand Hospitality Accessibility function. the first quarter of the Glazed area is for W Stand Corporate Boxes that have only seats on the platform in front of them. 9) The central half of the W Stand houses more expensive Corporate and VIP Boxes with the advantage of bigger numbers of attendees. They have a small patio area but also a large number of seats on the terraces below the patio too, above the Directors and Super VIP boxes. 10) The last quarter of the W stand, at the N end, will be like a mirror-image of that listed in #8 above.
Hi Mister Drone, maybe a question for the next pod but is there scope to expand up from the stands in the future. With the Friedkin's taken over, Americans love everything big, perhaps they will want a capacity close or above 65000 with chp lge qualification.
Not much scope to do that, any expansion will be centred on "Safe Standing" being approved at a higher ratio than the current 1 Standing spot to 1 Seated spot = 1:1 ratio. If the UK government approve a 3:2 ratio, the lower stands could go to safe standing and add up to an extra 9000 spots, total = 62,000, but that's optimistic and might never happen.
Unlikely imo - the stadium/location certainly hasn't been future provided for further seating expansion. Clearly with enough money you can build but I think the costs on this listed site will now be prohibitive for the return expansion would generate.
Sincerely hope this is the moment for Everton. We deserve to have a change in fortune. Let's hope although funds will not necessarily able to be used to buy players because of PSR rules, just the advertising and promotional business in USA alone will bring in lots of revenue re kit sales. We just haven't concentrated on that side of Everton business in the past. Trust Friedkin will certainly aim for that.
Long time no speak, Nothing. I couldn't agree more with your sentiment. If TFG write off the debt by converting it into Equity (in short that means paying off the debt with their own cash), then the club will gain by not paying out several 10's of £M's of interest per year. That alone will mean a huge reduction in costs and therefore much more flexibilty on players salaries and fees, as the PSR rules are likely to be superseded by UEFA FFP rules throughout the EPL too. So the future will be driven by turnover, rather than losses and profits. This is why the new stadium is crucial in the future financial ranking structure, as EFC will be in the upper half of EPL income, irrespective of how well the team are doing, particularly if they can pull off a whole lot of increased sponsorship too (My guess is that Toyota will be being leaned on now . . .).
@@davidbadcock2225 Nice one David, been crook as a dog, sinus and chest infection after catching COVID on way back to NZ, but starting to come right. Yes truly hope this is the beginning of a great time for the club. Not sure why there is a lot of hate towards Everton, or is that just majority of LFC supporters always on their threads? Anyway, hope you keep giving the valued information you do through Mr Drone, it's been truly invaluable along with watching the process of the build and has answered so many questions asked. Take care now.
@@nothing-jg7fw Ach, sorry that you've been laid low by Covid. Where in NZ are you? I have a nephew and nieces in Auckland (Mt Wellington, Greenhithe and Manly). Unfortunately my eldest sister has passed and her husband has moved back to the UK and got rehitched, leaving their children 'behind'.
@davidbadcock2225 TFG simply converting their £200m loan to equity will have a big positive effect on our PSR issues, to say nothing of the other loans they're committed to addressing (777/ACAP and Rights & Media Funding ). If (IF!) it all goes smoothly, we could go into BMD in a much better position off the field.
@@davidbadcock2225 Giddy David. I live in Palmy central lower north island. So sorry to hear passing of your sister, can be very hard when living 13,000 kms away - that's when distance sucks.
There's no "official opening date". LoR should finish in October/November. Then EFC will be doing the customisation of the site. Then there will be test events. All we know is that the plan is for the stadium to be used for the first time in full anger will be for the first Mens' First Team Home Match of the 2025-2026 season, some time in August.
So amazing debt free. We need more positivity tha. Most and amount of clubs behind us feeling we will score a win on saturday hopeuflly cusmt see u on our defeat other week if get back keep eye out for u. Dont hang up ya drone
On non match days where will people park when visiting the ground and/or shop? Quite a trek from the parking behind the west stand if only popping in and out
For "popping in and out", there are a few spaces in the turning and drop zone, just inside the vehicular entrance before the Security Hut but that is also likely to be limited. Security may allow some parking at the SE corner on non-match days but that is largely intended to be used as overflow. You can't park next to Everton 2 Liverpool 1 either, mind, so it shouldn't be seen as real hardship to walk a short distance at BMD from the nearby roads.
The demolition of Goodison will be sad and depressing. The building of the ‘Goodison Legacy Project’ will be quite dull. Not exciting at all, lads. I don’t think Mr D will have enough views/likes/subs/shares to justify the effort (in my opinion). I’ll probably be wrong and thousands will tune in twice a week.
With the takeover agreed, the next task is to avoid relegation and plan for next season in your new home. The foundations are close to completion for you to build on your previous achievements and leave a lasting legacy.
If there isn’t any wind at all, and it’s raining, every seat will be sheltered by the roof and will stay dry. However, this site is very exposed to the elements, and the prevailing wind (from the south west) will soak the away fans in the north east corner lower tier in wet weather - that’s why the club put them there 😆
Looks like we have a lot of sections for disability users (much more than Tottenham's new ground and much more prominent in every stand) - will this make us the most accessible Premier league ground ?
Stephen: the rain from the standing-seam roof travels east or west into the gutters that lie between the standing-seam roof and the barrel-cladding. The suction drains take the water down to and through the concrete roof, joined by the water that collates at the back of the concrete roof after falling though the barrel-cladding, then down the inside of the brick facade structure in columns and is directed to the Rain Harvesting Tanks located under the East Plaza, between the Pump House and the NE corner of the stadium. Any excess and all of the groundwater is collected and travels in pipes to exit at the hole you can no longer see clearly in the Seacant wall below the centre of the Lower Promenade of the West Plaza, into the Water Channel.
Straight onto the fans 😁 Like Jay says, they are integrated within the roof. The water is then sent to two large water tanks (buried) which will be used to flush loos etc.
The top layers of soil need to be added first on top of the sand that's there, then the grass seed will be planted, then the synthetic fibres will be stitched in at around 5 percent of the total surface.
@@JonathanMiller-e1m The south stand is bigger than the north because it’s the home end - The Blue Wall. The north stand is lower because that’s the highest it can be with the space available to the club. The north stand cannot be elevated or extended because EFC don’t own the land to the north and the owners, United Utilities, won’t sell
Jonathan: Dunc states it correctly but I am a bit surprised that through all of this project you have not been aware of the Architect's plan that every perspective and stand should NOT be symmetrical, sterile and lacking in character. The asymmetry is intentional not some unintentional accident. It tries to move away from the off-the-shelf designs found all over the world and mimics the old grounds, where all the stands differ because they developed organically. The N and S ends were designed to be hemmed in with the N end literally spatially-hemmed in and the S end metaphorically-hemmed in. It's part of the design to create intimacy with the pitch to help create the intimidating, raucous crowd and imposition. Apart from that, it would be nonsense to assume that TFG would be foolish enough to throw poor returns money at the stadium when it has yet to make a return on this basis current form. I reckon it will need a minimum of five years to get the club back into its rightful position of constant top 6, more likely a decade as others will not be standing still either.
Q. What provisions have been put in place if the water levels were to rise ? Q. Is there any room for expansion should there be the need in the future ? Q. Once inside, what signifies you are in the home of Everton FC ?

@IanConcannon Yeah I don't see them groundsharing. They've got big plans for the club and I think they want to grow it even further. Jay: indeed but he created new debts related to the stadium build, under duress. I am pretty sure he did not expect to have to do that, pre-Covid and War in Ukraine, before most of his assets were put out of bounds and the sudden RoI spike meant the overall cost increased by about 50%.
Gavin: it may not be obvious on a video filmed by drone at height but it's not absent. It's definitely there. It's easier to see in certain locations in certain lights on larger screens.

@@progers79 It LOOKS like it STINKS. So, you eat with your eyes? The water in the water channel is basically the same water as in Sandon Dock, which is half-tidal and connected to all the water in Liverpool Freeport. On occasions, due to heavy rainfall, the content of the water channel will be brackish as freshwater will enter it from the BMD groundwater and also from Nelson Dock.
@davidbadcock2225 didn't mean any offence David. No need to shout. I understand you have quite the knowledge on such things and especially on the workings of the stadium. It does look like it stinks though. Just saying what I see

I could have used quotes such as "Looks" and "Stinks" and it was designed to emphasise the fact they are two different senses by following it up with a humorous comment. Judging by your reply, I have failed with the humour. I don't understand the last half of your comment as whether you think I do have knowledge about the stadium or not, it has no bearing on whether water "looks" like it "stinks". It will "smell" like seawater, by the way, and no different to the water anywhere in the docks north of BMD. Best wishes.
they can call the takeover as null and void if Everton go down, they are buying into the Premiership and could call a breach of contract if they are no longer a Premiership club. The players really need to step up.
No chance. They're buying the club and it's expected to happen in November/December. No way in the world will there be a sale or return option based on relegation. 😂

C) At the NW end the structure will comprise: 1) next to the northern perimeter fence, a 5m wide pair of hinged gates in dark-grey aluminium with a 50% porosity and 2) next to the
mezzanine corner, a 8m roller shutter in the same material, of course.
D) In addition at the NW end, the drawings show that they'll add an overhead cover over the rectangular area defined by the new gates structure, the edge of the north end of the
mezzanine, the NW corner of the Brick Facade and the North perimeter fencing, with the paneling being . . . . you guessed it, dark-grey aluminium at 50% porosity. Personally I hope they
don't do this last feature as I think it will attract a lot of birds and their muck.

The wind baffle gate structure that you highlight at 6:30. I recall seeing a similar structure in earlier CGI videos, but without actual gates. I had thought it would be a kind of vertical wind blower (can't think of the proper name for such a device) to act as an air barrier. The gates you refer to, don't appear on any earlier EFC videos, and up until now, they have been very accurate with their CGI drawings,
Sultan: Well, the Visualisations aren't all that helpful as they're loaded with artistic licence, in regard to the definitive final plans to be enacted.
I do have access to the plans that show the following:
A) Wind Baffle Gates at both ends of the 'mezzanine', with the NW end being a smaller combination than at the SW corner.

How close is the nearest chippy, always loved the banter by the city road chippy.
I haven’t seen or maybe missed anything about floodlights on the pitch? Any update on this please Nick? Great vid as always! 👍
Floodlights were installed last November
Hope you stay up, great stadium
That last bit of sand being scouped out was probably used as a hill to get up and down for the machinery.
So they didn’t leave the digger to be submerged? 😮😉
Could you buy the smallest commercial drone and do the inside of the Three Graces?
The different coloured seats in clear sections will be corporate sections where they change from the normal plastic seats to the padded ones for hospitality. You can see this on the East Stand too around the halfway line.

Crane has also gone 😮

Yes, John, a valid point.
@@davidbadcock2225 The seats in the corner quadrants ,three sections only have two exits and none for the centre section. I am sure calculations must have been done in advance but it stuck out like a sore thumb to me and for Ratcliffe to mention it twice backed that up. Nick, at 9 minutes, is there a new stone wall behind the digger.
That length of gabion wall was installed there in 2023.
At for the things on the roof, they are drain grills to stop gulls nesting in the rain run offs

Will the original dock wall be tidied up in any way? It’s great that some of it will be visible, but it does look a bit tatty and chipped in places.
Is the Everton way going to be last thing installed
The club are sorting that, not LoR. Probably early next year 👍🏻
Sincerely hope this is the moment for Everton.
This is why the new stadium is crucial in the future financial ranking structure, as EFC will be in the upper half of EPL income, irrespective of how well the team are doing, particularly if they can pull off a whole lot of increased sponsorship too (My guess is that Toyota will be being leaned on now . . .).

There's no "official opening date". LoR should finish in October/November. Then EFC will be doing the customisation of the site. Then there will be test events. You need to follow the dismantling of Goodison Park and area development
On non match days where will people park when visiting the ground and/or shop? Quite a trek from the parking behind the west stand if only popping in and out
The parking behind the west stand won't be for the general public even on non match days. It's for staff, the teams and hospitality guests.

If there isn’t any wind at all, and it’s raining, every seat will be sheltered by the roof and will stay dry. That'll be done by the club once the stadium's been handed over,
Looks like we have a lot of sections for disability users (much more than Tottenham's new ground and much more prominent in every stand) - will this make us the most accessible Premier league ground ?
No sign of any drainpipes. Where does all the rain go ?
They are all behind the black & brick cladding going down into water tanks underground.
Drainpipes are internal and run to storage tanks so they can recycle the water for flushing toilets, watering pitch etc.
Straight onto the fans 😁
Like Jay says, they are integrated within the roof. The water is then sent to two large water tanks (buried) which will be used to flush loos etc.
I recall seeing the Rain Harvesting Tank being installed under the east plaza in one of Mr D’s earlier vids 👍🏻

Will the club badge be placed on the stadium anywhere?
Probably
Yes, likely, but we will have to wait and see the results of theNaming Rights project. I think Toyota will be receiving the heat from TFG soon enough.
If Friedkin makes us debt free would be great to phase the building of the extra capacity and balance out the structure in terms of symmetry.
Extra capacity? How?
Look at both ends behind the goals the south is bigger than the north. The intention is to add the extra capacity if required.

Q. Is there any room for expansion should there be the need in the future ?
