    Sir can we derive velocity at any instant t if we project the ball along the horizontally making no angle?? If yes then should we write i cap for velocity along x and y cap for velocity along y??? Plzz solve

      Yes Samridhi. If you throw the ball horizontally from a height 'h' you can solve it just like a normal projectile. Use i cap for the motion along ground and j cap for the motion along the y-axis

    Sir when we throw object at some angle acceleration along y-axis is -g so, how acceleration along y-axis is -g in this condition?

      Hi Nikhil. Acceleration does not depend on the magnitude or direction of the initial velocity. Acceleration depends on the net force acting on a body. In the case of projectile motion, only one force is acting, i.e, mg, which acts in the vertical direction. That is why acceleration is in the vertically downward direction.

    Sir how is the horizontal acceleration zero? Because when we are throwing it is obvious that we are applying a horizontal force on it . So shouldn"t there be any horizontal acceleration? Plz do clear it . It is my yearlong doubt.

      Hi Himangshu. In discussing projectile motion the object is given an initial velocity (due to application of some forces by your hand, or by a gun etc.) . The analysis is done after this action. Once the ball leaves your hand or the bullet leaves the gun, there is no other force acting on it apart from gravity.

      Displacement along y axis = final y coordinate - initial y coordinate = (-h) - (0). I have discussed how and why I chose the co-ordinate system in the first 3 minutes of the video

      kinetic energy will be minimum at highest point. After that, as the object comes at lower levels, it PE decreases and KE increases

    When you project the object above the horizontal at an angle, then the height should be greater than h, shouldn't it?

      If you throw at angle above the horizontal the maximum height will be more than the height of the tower. If you throw horizontally or below the horizontal level at some angle, then the maximum height above the ground will remain as the original height from which the body was thrown. I have discussed all the three cases in the video.

      Hi Nishant. We use +ve and -ve signs in front of vectors to specify their direction. We can choose any convention to do that. You can either choose upwards positive or downwards positive at the beginning of your discussion. Whatever convention you choose, apply it properly to all vectors (displacement, velocity, acceleration). If applied correctly the answers will remain the same. If I take upwards positive in this question, all the terms in the vertical direction will be negative (displacement, velocity, acceleration). So when you make the equation of motion, the -ve signs will cancel out on both sides of the equation and the answer will come out as the same as if you had chosen the opposite convention

      I have chosen the sign convention as upwards positive. So all vectors in the downward direction will be chosen as negative.
