Process Time lapse | Expressive Emotional Oil Painting Male Portrait
Here's a timelapse video showing some of the process involved with creating my figurative oil painting called “Letting Go.” I work in an expressionistic style on this one, applying layers of thick paint to create movement and energy within the portrait.

Its beautiful... but it looks like so much paint is wasted to make this type of art.

It’s not a waste if it makes something you like.

are you looking at a picture or photo or painting from your imagination? I made my first real attempt at painting but copied the form but not so much the exact style of a van gogh self portrait and it turnrd out pretty good imo lol. I just wondered where you got the idea of the colours to use ! Was wondering if I should have a go at this kinda style its pretty much the type of thing Id like to try more of! Also I think painting bigger pictures would be easier to get right proportionally , love your work and It definately inspires me to get more done myself! thanks for your work. great stuff

Thank you! Yes I take photos of models to use as inspiration. Then I allow the brushstrokes and colors to change as I go along so it becomes more expressive.

      Can I ask you a question (s).
      1. When did you started?
      2. What keeps you doing it and when did this painting became a huge part in your life?
      3. How many hours do you practice now and when you were 16, cause I'm 16, I'm so eagar to know sir.

Adnan Alam I’ve always loved to draw. My parents told me when I was 3 I’d wake up before them and have 200 drawings done before they woke up. Neither of them are artists so I’m not sure where that came from, but they were very supportive and signed me up for art lessons just before my fourth birthday. It’s not that I was some kind of brilliant child prodigy - my kid drawings looked like kid drawings. But I just loved doing it so much I made art all the time, and the more you practice, the better you get. If you look through my videos, you’ll see one called My Childhood Art that shows a lot of what my early work was like and how it progressed into my teenage years. If you love art and want to be an artist, the best advice I can give you is to make as much art as you possibly can. And try all kinds of different things. Take classes if you can or watch different videos on TH-cam to learn about different techniques. If you want to go to art school, you’ll need a portfolio of your work, so the more you can start making now, the better off you’ll be. And most importantly, HAVE FUN!
