  • The Merry Maidens is a famous stone circle near Penzance, Cornwall, the largest in the area. It has 19 dressed stones in a perfect circle. Author and mystic T.C.Lethbridge reported that he got an electric shock when he touched certain stones in the circle and local legend states girls dancing on the sabbath were turned to stone forming the circle. Two large menhirs called The Pipers sit a quarter of a mile north. Hugh Newman, author of 'Stone Circles' (2017) explores the site and gives an alternative view of this beautiful megalithic complex. Includes exclusive aerial footage.

There must be people in 'secret societies' etc who know exactly what these megalithic sites are but of course they're not talking...???

When they open it again, you need to go to Halliggye fogou, overlooked by almost everyone.

We came form the US and visited at the Merry Maidens on the full moon on, I believe, 10 September 2022. We were the only ones there, and it was quite an experience to walk into the circle during the daylight and stay through the rising of the full moon. I actually planned our whole England trip around that full moon. Going back next year and will do the same. There's a definitely a unique feeling there - something akin to being in a room where there is no wind and the air feels slightly electrified for some reason. It was really a very very unique thing to have done.
FYI, Hugh, you were one of my inspirations to have done this. Thank you for your tireless work on all these sites.

There’s a very basic camping field just behind the pipers, you can be with the stones at sunset and rise. Happy days!

One to ten, twelve and thirteen were the linear counting numbers: all can be measured on: an ochar (the key, stone) in éire. Thirteen is part of the Loch Goir series (Golden series). Fifteen is important for spherical calculations and is found in the horseshoe at the centre of stonehenge,; 150 (or ten times fifteen) is a classic number of theirs also employed at Loch Goir to align it and dispaly: an uimhir ór (the golden number). Those are magnificent standing stones in Cornwall, a must visit if I ever get to Cornwall, unvaccinated. Thanks for the footage, enjoyed that. There are at least two Pipers stone circles here that I'm aware of, just goes to show propaganda has no boundaries.

Excellent Hugh, wondered if any Scans had revealed how large these 'Outlier' Stones were beneath the ground?
11ft & 15ft above the ground currently but I'm interested in their total dimensions.
    Regards & thanks

I was wondering that too, maybe like the Easter Island "heads" that turned out to be full bodies.

Not sure but on average it will be a third of length so about 4 or 5 feet I imagine.

I took some old metal coat hangers and dowsed the 9 Maidens in 2016, very interesting linear energy from the car park and vortex rotating fields around the piezo electric quartz circle . Defo' worth a visit but take no preconceived ideas.

Great video Hugh, i Never knew these existed.....Like the massive 15 footer, There seems to be an increase in the amount of annoying people these days, who, from almost every angle, appear phallic. one can only hope they turn to stone.

Wouldn't it be easy say if you're a giant the size of a tree ,or bigger, lol those stones would be be tooth picks to them..the Bible does mention man the size of a locust against one of them .

Nicely filmed but poorly researched, uninformative, and misleading (there are two stones outside the main circle, not one).

You don't do yourself any favors, or help in any way archaeology, or the understanding of the culture and its believes or its technology.
By starting out your video talking about a mystic and dowsing.
You might as well throw in some outer space aliens, if that's the nut cases you're going after.
By the way I picked up a rock in my driveway and got a shock from it and as far as I know I don't have any mystic connections, just static electricity.
