+jasper6004 haha, thanks but the corner itself is from other car. I dont have the tools to make that corner. Well you could try to cut it and bend it but it would take a lot of time.
This is great. Thank you. Like a previous commenter said i would have loved to see more about the creation of the corner fender where it's bent. Also would love to see you tackle other side. Cheers!
Curious what gauge metal you use for patch panels and also what size wire do you use on your welder? I keep blowing through on lowest settings, .8mm wire
How would you go about replacing the sunroof with a slick top. I've got major rust on the sunroof rail seams and I'm considering just replacing the whole roof with sheet metal and adding support beams across.
Wow, roof is somethings i havent still done. I think it would be hard, because its just thin sheet metal and at a such scale it would easily warp. I would suggest to get a brand new or donor roof and replace it as its done in factory. Good luck man. Send me some pics from process in IG.
hello, im restoring my e30 1987 4 door. and my sills are rotten on the inside. i am doing this alone but do you have any tips on how to change that? i have very small experiance with welding and i did some patching but replacing intire sill looks intimidating.
+Ricky Rackzzz This took me about 24h to make that would be 3 full working days 1 working day is 167eur for welding in our shop. So that is 501eur for labor only + around 70eur for consumables. It depend how rusted the pocket is, it could possably be more. And this was a “fast” fix.
students 😩 I have the same problem on both sides not as bad but I have yet to fully investigate. Its so hard having a e30 in chicago, where they have more salt than snow. Thanks for the reply!
Red stuff is wash primer : “A wash primer is a synthetic primer that usually contains zinc chromate or phosphoric acid. It is used as a first coat on metal surfaces and has anticorrosion properties, making it a prerequisite or pretreatment before any coating application.”
very nice ! i think this kind of video help every non professional to work on his e30. in a few weeks i will watsh this video agan, when i fight against this well known spot :P

Hey, thanks! Definetly more videos in the future!
Post more about welding and bodywork, looking great =)
Is there any specific part you're interested in?
@@studentsE30 Where am I from, 80% of E30s require welding of the whole body, so everything is interesting =)
@@studentsE30 Can you make a video of welding the front floor corners by the jacking point (external corner below fenders)?
+Toms Bogatijs yea, every single e30 around here needs to weld those corners. When ill have a chance ill try to make an explanatory video.
Can you tell more about how you shaped that corner? It has double a curve in two directions. You managed to match the original perfectly great job!
+jasper6004 haha, thanks but the corner itself is from other car. I dont have the tools to make that corner. Well you could try to cut it and bend it but it would take a lot of time.
Dude, super sick video, thank you and definitely do more! Currently trying to find if anyone’s done the roof & sun roof
Fair play mate your work is outstanding 👏

Good job on the repair. Keep the content coming, its very interesting.
Thanks for great video, learned some new tricks with sheet metal :D had atleast 2 Aha! moments :D
That’s great!
That was the purpose of this video. ❤️
Good job, impressed! Why on earth do people weld a new piece of steel over an already rusted part?
crazy skills, inspired to say the least
Great job! Which device did you use at the end the spray er? I’ve never seen this. Where can I get one? Thanks
Amazing job. What’s the bumper texture spray product you used here?
Nice job man, what kind of wielding primer do you use?
I belive it was zinc primer, there are specific weld thru primers.
You’re an artist!
Curious what gauge metal you use for patch panels and also what size wire do you use on your welder?
I keep blowing through on lowest settings, .8mm wire
most amazing welds

How much would a job like this cost? Came out amazing!

+Ricky Rackzzz yea, its the same here were i live. Usually ppl dont use their e30’s in winters
do you have any videos rust repairing the front top strut mounts in the engine bay
Blake Sirois Nope, wasnt filming then. Just some pics on instagram. Removed the whole strut.
That was a joy to watch. Your a genius.
Cool stuff
good job bud whats the cost of this job
Well it was around 24h of work, so it would be around 500e just for the labor. It depends how far the rust has gone. This was pretty bad.
What was that orange stuff you put on there and the silver blue stuff?
Are you talking about orange(red) primer or yellowish underbody coating? The blue silver(silver) color is zink primer using it as weld thru primer.
@@studentsE30 just the red primer what is that?
Red stuff is wash primer :
“A wash primer is a synthetic primer that usually contains zinc chromate or phosphoric acid. It is used as a first coat on metal surfaces and has anticorrosion properties, making it a prerequisite or pretreatment before any coating application.”
@@studentsE30 thanks
What's the spray u use to spray the panels?
If you mean the one i use between the panels before welding, It’s zink spray.
@@studentsE30 exactly what I meant! Thank you very much :)
What primer do you use for recent weld parts ? or its a zinc spray ?
Yes, zinc and weld through primer.
Hey, i have ruste over gastank on my e30 ix do you have video of that?

Very Nice!
+Jakob Eriksson thanks! 😎
What gauge steel are you using ?
0.8 , 1,5 and 2mm are my comonly used steel thickness.
