Just my opinion, but I can't read books or long texts on the pc/notebook or on the phone, it hurt my eyes, but I can read books on the kindle because of its different screen. However, I can read comics on the computer without my eyes straining. I believe it's because comics have less text, so my eyes stay less time focused on the screen.
Is it just me that i like how the basic looks over the Paperwhite one? The fact that it looks simple and cheaper and doesn't look like a tablet makes me feel comfortable about taking it everywhere. XD
I have the Kindle 10 gen in black, but I think the white is prettier, I just didn't choose it in white because it wasn't in stock at the store where I bought it.
I agree. Thats y i bought mines in white immediately. Also every other device i have is black so i wanted to go for white this tims. So to compare: white gets dirty quickly and the black will show scratches and scuffs... lol i use a case anyways.
In Canada, sadly this unit isn't worth the price, as it's $119 and the new Paperwhite often goes on sale for that price. But for Americans, it's more understandable
So the kindle 10th gen was released in 2019...unless ur in a different area...? Never heard this before...and for cases amazon makes several official cases for each kindle and there's several places you can buy a case including Amazon.
Nobody outside of Amazon knows if a new version is going to be released in 2021 or not. The Paperwhite is older and more likely to be updated considering it was released in 2018, but even still the pace at which Amazon releases updates that might not be until 2022. The last Paperwhite wasn't updated for over 3 years.
I'm getting a new Amazon Kindle reader it's a year 2019 will it have on there text to speak because sometimes I like to listen to it as I am doing things around the house instead of reading it
I'm not clear on this particular feature: Does the basic Kindle has the dark screen option or not? Since you mentioned Paperwhite & Oasis I don't get where basic Kindle stands in this regards
Great review. Sorely tempted to upgrade to this model, *but* I'm totally averse to fingerprints. Has anyone found any issues with them on the black version? Cheers! 📚😉
Since it only has 4gb does it have a slot for a memory card or something ? I wanted to get the 2019 kindle but if it doesn’t have that much room then perhaps I should purchase the paper white instead?
I have thousands of books on mines and mines is an 8gb model with about 5/6 gb available for space. I haven't downloaded all my books but i do download several at a time. The space left is for books you will download and i really don't see anyone filling even 2gb unless they're downloading every book they buy and not reading em. (Which is pretty atupid). Each kindle book is usually kb or maybe a few mb. So to download a hundred books wouldn't come even close to filling this. Now comics and audiobooks are obv going to take more room. Still the bag model does everything i need it to.
That's intentional - my belief is they've done it to make highlighting feel faster and reduce the number of screen refreshes (especially if you change your mind about how much you want to highlight). You'll also note there's a black rectangle on the far left which grows as you select more lines. Personally I much prefer it to the old way, however I've had to get used to putting my finger in a different position when editing the start/end boundaries of an existing highlight - I used to aim for the little tab thing underneath the vertical line, but now you have to actually press and hold the text itself.
This is a question... Can I translate entire books into Spanish, and then use the translate feature to then tranlate words I don't know back into English? I've never had a kindle, I am learning Spanish, and I am assuming that not all books come in Spanish initially. Am I correct in that?
So you think Google Translate or a similar dumb translation service can help you learn a language? Think again. If you try to learn Spanish by reading machine-translated texts, you'll just learn gibberish.
@@ramiromartinez91 yes you can, but the screen is quite small so you'll have to read the pdf files half of a page at a time. Not all files work well with this setup, for example it won't be nice if there are multiple columns of text on a page, or any kind of illustrations.
Everyone keeps saying oh this is so affordable and good value etc. but it's not. Previous gen Kindle used to go for much cheaper and pretty much has the same specs except the backlight. I'm not paying $30 for a couple LED lights.
Why would anyone ever pay Amazon for a digital license to read books that Amazon can rescind at any moment? They've already remotely wiped books that people bought because of license disputes. Which is why I wish more reviews would focus on how well this works with pirated ebooks/Calibri. If I'm gonna buy a book I want a physical copy that I can lend out/sell. One that can't be wiped/modified remotely.
I havebeen looking at the reviews for three days now and this is definatley the best! It answred so many of my questions thankyou!.
colour e-ink would be brilliant for comics
@@realjpliou apparently it is and there are devices out there just not well spread and certainly not in kindle form 😞
You already have tablets for that and the Kindle app for mobiles
Roberto M. not the same thing at all
That would be so cool

Agree. The cheaper look is more charming lol
I used to think the paperwhite looked better, but not anymore. The thicker bezels on the paperwhite look hideous to me now.
@Koa Leighton FLIXZONE'S A SCAM!!!

It's 140 here
It’s on sale on Amazon for 49.99
Will the case for kindle 10th generation 2018 release fit this kindle?

Got it on sale for my gf for $49 what a steal
A new version is supposed to be out this year 2021. I will wait.

It has VoiceView, which is kind of like TTS but more difficult to use.
can i read pdf??
Yes
Excellent review! Thank you.

If you mean the frontlighting then yes, it can be turned off for the Kindle basic
he clearly stated and showed there is no dark feature on basic but it was available on PW and oasis.
Wooooowwe....no matter how much he explains it i doubt you will get it. Rewatch the video. 🙄😅
Which is best ❓
Great review. Sorely tempted to upgrade to this model, *but* I'm totally averse to fingerprints.

Why does it flash black when you move or tap on something? It looks very slow too. Is it supposed to be like that? I have one too and it kinda bugs me
That how it’s supposed to work. It’s e-ink. It refreshes when the page changes. Don’t expect it to work like your phone or your tablet.
Great review, thanks
Thank you for this review

It depends...4gb can store thousands of books. If you are planning on reading comics/mangas and using Audible then I would recommend the Paperwhite.
sofia786sa ahh okay thanks! I think I’m just going to go for the more basic one then.
Actually.. There's an 8 gb version availablefor basic kindle.. You can check out that...

Anyone else having a highlighting glitch? It’s underlining instead of actually highlighting words now. Happening on both of my kindles.

william Ah, okay, that makes sense I guess. Thanks!
mine was doing that till I reset it, now its back to normal.
Anybody facing touch issue on 2019 Kindle, especially while turning pages by tapping??
Nope! been using it for more than a month and did not notice any issue with the touch.
They didn't find a way to make this refresh blink disappear
you can set it to refresh later, like only after so many pages but you may get ghosting/image retention till it refreshes
light is too blue

Wooooooow very detailed review
Amazing review. Also is not much different between this kindle and paperwhite.
Great review!

you can load your kindle with whatever books you like, not only purchased from amazon..I have read many books like that
