i agree fully. that being said, i much prefer the studio recording from a musical stand point, and as someone who was a section leader of a chamber choir (16 voices) and performed alot, i have to say that the live performances ive seen, mainly the one by home free in my city a month or so ago, was very under whelming. now i understand the auto tune and editing are a thing, and studios can better mix stuff and make it 10x better, however, going from listening to professional recordings of the highest musicianship and quality, to listening to a live performance, where tempo wavers sloghtly (to be expected ive experienced this myself) the group isnt necisarily in tune (again, ive experienced this) and the mixing might not be A+, is just such a huge drop off for me, and hard for me to appreciate. ofc id love to see all my favourite groups live, but as far as musicality goes, id much prefer recordings that they can pamper every little detail.

I might be wrong as I'm not trained, but his jaw and body looks relaxed and not tensed like his harming notes looked like on the sing off. I think he might just be adding some controlled strain/growl to the note for added intensity. Or it was hard, who knows haha

He uses falsetto on that note in this performance and all the others I've seen on TH-cam. There's on of him belting it live though, it's on a Mitch studio vs live high notes video

Two things I've noticed in the video they make it seem like the white dude did it all himself. And each time I have listened to this I'm like the black guy sounds the very best could've did this by himself and now seeing it live I'm like dam I was right, the white dude couldn't carry it by himself.
