Hi I'm Rick Shiels, welcome to my channel RickShielsPGAGolf. This TH-cam channel is designed to help you play better golf, also to help you enjoy your golf more!
I specialise in golf club reviews, golf club unboxing, golf club news, golf club head to heads, and all about golf clubs.
I also want to make you play better golf by providing coaching video on all topics about golf, how to fix your slice, fix your hook, help you drive the golf ball longer, hit your irons more pure, hit your irons closer to the hole and help you draw and fade your golf shots.
I will also help you lower your score by chipping better by stopping you duff and thin chips, pitch the ball closer and also create backspin. Also I will provide you help to putt better and hole more putts!
On this channel I also make fun and entertaining golf content based on crazy and sometimes "gimmicky" golf clubs. I like to cut through the marketing hype about products and I like to give you the honest truth about golf equipment.

I did that a few months ago. After years of battling a slice I tweaked my grip to a much stronger grip. It felt awkward at first but once I started banging my driver arrow straight and much more distance I knew I had actually found something in golf that wasn't gonna go away the next time I played. Not a quick fix but a permanent part of my setup...I now have the feels of what it's like to have confidence in that the club isn't gonna spin outta my hands when I make contact.

I had an instructor that would pull the club out of my hand at any moment, to make sure I didn't have a death grip on it. That really made me relax and feel the club in my hands. Tight enough so you don't throw the club like Judge Smails, but loose enough that someone could take it away from you.

Rick, I’ve always had a very strong interlocking grip. However, for an entire decade I have been far too dominant with my lower hand gripping hard to try to steer the ball. Grip pressure in the lower hand is often not spoken about so glad to see you bring it up. Releasing that pressure helps to feel what a pure strike is and allows the club head to be released.

Today I studied your videos on iron striking, grip technique and driving the ball straight. How simple you have made these particularly iron striking which seemed so complicated to me. Best wishes to you and what you do to help those of us who aspire to be better golfers.

I just love your video's Rick - You are the people golfer who helps all that tune into your channel, yeah the grip is so important, you just have to look down at your arms/hands as they are positioned as you walk, we are all built different resulting in our hands hanging at a certain degree, the minute you force them into a different position they are obviously going to react to the change in where you position them on the shaft! But yes the video Rick has shown us gives us all a guide line in how to hold the club - this guy is great and loyal to his followers, not like other channels who are away playing golf in warmer climates and posting their great week away! I don't care how their trip went or how they played, here on this channel you get tuition and commitment from a great guy!
Thanks Rick, you have helped my golf and my swing this year as I was lost for over a year in trying to find my game due to domestics !

emerysnap because I know what I’m supposed to do, but my mind just goes during a round and I forget the basics..but come the 17th or 18th I suddenly realise where I’ve been going wrong and it all comes back to me

Your instruction is top-shelf! I just picked up golf and have been focused on my swing and the mechanics of my swing were good, but my contact was never consistent. I implemented the overlap as you showed and immediately improved my contact accuracy!

Probably one of the most useful tip videos I’ve seen. I’ve played golf for years and you get into habits you don’t realise you are in. It was good to watch the video and reset my grip. Thanks Rick.

I used to do a 10 finger grip when I first started. And I was new golfer so my friend told me that interlocking grip was the right way and I was holding it wrong. I didn’t know at the time and for over a year was doing interlocking. Now switched back thank you.

Unbelievable...... just went to the driving range after watching this video and realized I was holding my golf stick horrendously. I have never hit so many straight/straightish balls in my life. Amazing video thank you so much.

Absolutely great tip! Huge impact on my game. I was holding the club to deep in my palm, twisting it during the final motion and hitting way left of center or slicing. Hitting the ball much straighter now after changing the grip.

Absolute gold Rick, expecting big score improvement after watching this mate thankyou 👍
Was told years ago to have both thumbs pointing inline on middle of grip, been forever hitting irons right & severely slicing driver...

fabulous video Rick - been watching your channel for a while and just came across this. Ive started pulling my irons, and after blaming my clubs (!) realised its more to do with my grip and controlling the club head. This is superb advice - Thanks!
