Woo. Hoo. The first night can be so exciting. You can use pillow cases to hang as curtains. They're cute and already seen and easy to hang on a string or rod...love seeing your progress. Hugs!
Ah that's a good idea! I've already started sewing curtains, but that's a good alternative!

Hi there! No, we didn't get self-contained certified because it isn't quite big enough for that. It hasn't been a problem though, we just stay at campgrounds :)

Mari, my biggest issue with this whole van life thing is that many of you seem to embrace cold climates - even with insulation, I'd struggle. I live in the tropics here in Oz - not the sub-tropics (Brisbane has a Winter, regardless of what Victorians will tell you, and that applies as far north as Mackay and further if you're inland). Darwin simply doesn't have anything resembling 'Winter' and that means an influx of southerners and backpackers from all over the world. On the two or three nights of the year (!) when the night-time temp plummets to ~16 deg C, locals complain about the cold ;) I've been to Christchurch - beautiful city but even in April it was *freezing*. The Bay Of Islands might be more my speed but I have trouble believing that anywhere in NZ has a 'mild' Winter by my ridiculous understanding of that word.

Yep its cold most of the time. Thin sliver of land surrounded by ocean and windy mostly. I lived in Waikato area which is cold in winter with fog and frosts.-4C and fog still hanging around 5 in the avo. Now staying in Gold Coast and its pleasant in winter but still a little chilly compared to say Cairns. NZ still looks good though, water skiing lakes with no crowds. Nice vids.
