The utility can is nice, but I learned to reuse laundry detergent jugs that have a push button for dispensing. Fill the jug with water and the small amount of detergent left in the jug makes great hand cleaner.
I like that idea. The best hand cleaner I’ve found is Kirkland laundry soap. Only need a little bit and it doesn’t matter how dirty your hands are it works
We just jacked one side up and blocked it and pulled the track all the way around to the rear one. Ours had a pin we had to drive through . The sprocket helped hold it in place. Good video awesome content for the up an coming owner operator business owner

Electric grease gun is well worth the money. My dad is 73 and old school, had to be a hand pump grease gun. Well, my wife got me a DeWalt electric grease gun. Now when we are out at the farm, before we start running the tractors, he ask if I have my grease gun with me and off he goes with it. I have the Lock-n-Lube on it and that combination makes quick work of all the greasing. Only downside, we go through more grease now because dad wants to make sure everything gets greased.
I agree. The older folks. You can learn alot of stuff from em. They been around the loop a few times. If It wernt for my elders i would not have learned nothing.
That 450j I borrowed a while back was an lgp model and for its size it definitely surprised me. Little beast of a dozer. Hope y’all get it back in good working order soon.
I`ve had to do that whole job myself with other equipment to assist me on a big excavator and in a big garage on concrete... that was hard enough... but watching you guys work in that fricken blow sand made me think I had it pretty easy!! You should help him get his garage finished up so the poor man can work in better conditions!! Enjoying the channel.... thanks
Hank I just busted my d5g cat dozer tracks loose just to replace the slack adjuster seals for that front idler. Both sides done start to finish I got about 8 hrs in it.
@@livingstonexcavation732 I'm with you. I'd soon run a regular, as the hi-tracks don't do a thing for me. The standby's are stable and can take it. Thay have for YEARS! I ran a 5K LGP and a 6R XL and I'd just as soon have a good 6C as an all around but the old 5 was a little horse 4 sure!
Lewie I miss the old D6D,D7D, and the f series as well. Old but run for ever if taken care of. I also have a old straight D3 79u with a 6 way blade. Its been my project dozer. Complete rebuild on the 3204 and on the power shift transmission

Hey hey Hank, thats not only a hard back breaking process. At $40.00 a pad its quite an expensive project. About 40 years ago I helped my brothe change out his on an old D 4 Caterpillar. A very hard job indeed. You can't be afraid of hard work to do this project. LoL.
Good stuff man , I subscribed and I hope you put out a lot more videos . I have a 450C . I just got it 2 months ago . It's a dozer and 6 way blade . I will remember the blade trick for installing tracks etc . The old timer that was helping you , take good care of him . These old guys are the Pure Gold. They have so many tricks , because they learned to improvise and use what they had . I wish I had that kind of knowledge , to pass down . I am going to check out more of your video's . If you have any friends (Old Timer) that are familiar with the 450 C model , I am having some issues on HLR , I put it in fwd. I have to wait before it will start to move . Then I have to shift to reverse and get it to move slightly then go back and forth for at least 10 minutes before it will lock into gear solid . I went by the book TM1120 and adjusted the pressure on the trans , and free travel on the clutch pedal , along with needle valve adjustment . I can make it work but embarrassing to spend 10 to 15 minutes to get it to go. I will pay $100 per hour for guidance and consultation . I have exhausted my knowledge base for my location . Our John Deere guys have no clue because they have probably never seen a 1974 450C . Thank you and keep up the good work . Aloha

Hey Hank! Wow what a job that is. I don’t know much about tracked equipment but i didn’t know it was that in-depth lol. I’ve done a snowmobile track before haha but this was more interesting. That trick with the bucket was smarting using it to pull and keep tension, what a great use of the machine lol. Keep up the great videos!

Hank, please, please, please, please, PLEASE don't put ANY parts of your body where you even MIGHT get hurt because if you keep it up, somebody WILL wind your clock! I never was around any track changing that modern. All mine was a dimple in the master pin and you got a drift punch on the end of a 4 or 5 foot pipe and someone good with a 16# hammer. Drive 'em out and drive 'em in. I was working for Flour Daniel at a local DuPont film plant running a D6B straight drive doing a lot of reforestation work and grading. Your tracks were NEW compared to those on the 6 but the powers that was didn't want new anything. I started grading out for a million gallon oil tank and it rained and we were pushing mud. Mud will yank a loose track off quicker than anything. I about lost one a time or two and I told them they better do something or it'd be bad. Slack adjusters were maxed out., They said run it. I did. BOTH tracks came off to the inside. They had to break both tracks in the mud and stretch them out to get them back on. It took the winch on the 6, a HD7G Allis Chalmers loader and a Dynahoe to get it back on flat ground to work on it. New anything?? Not in this lifetime. They made 2 inch thick spacers to go between the slack adjuster and front idler yoke. All the bushings were busted and into the pins. It was that way when I left. So yall did good. GBWYall!
Hi guys, I have an old-timer friend that I just met, nice guy, but he has a John Deer D450 G, there was a fire out on his farm, he got up on the Dozer to try and put the fire out, but the Dozer caught fire, and he burn his right leg, poor guy, but I'm trying to help him out, because his Dozer won't turn right unless it's in a uphill position, then it will turn right a bit. it turns left o.k., but not right, can you help me out where do I start looking? I was a Diesel Mechanic and worked on big rigs, but not Dozers. thank you. Paul

I sure wish that you had some air tools or a cordless from milwaukee sure would be the nicest tool to give a channel endorsement on' I have replaced tracks before and wasn't able to just get rails so that was sure kind of them. With the price of steel in the crapper, I would think they could a finished that track out by including some pads as those have seen better times yet you start somewhere. I have had money before and you know, other than when I would like to have some to give away as I did before, I really don't miss it too bad. I think sometimes I am better off without it as it did cost me friends. I have seen what money does to people and it just ain't good. I lost two friends now, one to the virus yesterday and one to cancer just a ways back then learned that a good friend who has a youtube channel has cancer. He is the most bravest man you could meet and he doesn't have either arm! He drives his trucks hauling grain and does a lot of the maintenance on his tractors and stuff. He has a great wife and daughter and will make you smile a mile. As a after thought, I will send a link to his channel and see if we can help him too. He ain't asking and that just ain't his way but you know how important they are. I am glad you ain't working in mud there. As I type this up you have it finished up I suppose but a smile don't hurt. You could try a duo dynamic converter to align the tracks and then test with a positronic injector. Just a suggestion. 🤷🏼♂️

Not sure what a rage is...but I assure you using an old t-shirt for grease versus disrespectful treatment of the flag are not the same. 16 deployments, 1500+ combat hours, 25+ years active duty .....I think I know a little bit about the honor our flag deserves.
