II watched your video to learn how to disconnect the shift rod. You jump to another part of the disassembly and didn’t get what part gets turned to separate the rod. Or when reassembling the shift rod how to adjust so it shifts correctly.
OK on the side of the engine engine where the cables come in there is a plastic housing where the two barrels on your cables are. Flip the latch open and pull the barrels out of there seating spot. Now, if you need to adjust your shifter linkage because of grinding, etc., just take the shifter barrel which is brass give it one turn in or out then try the shift. See if it gets better if it’s getting worse go the other way but just do one at a time and then Test. You will find the spot.
If that’s a 4 stroke, I have the same OB. Does that have a thermostat that prevents the impeller from turning and the water circulating when the motor is cold in the same way a thermostat in a car stays closed until the engine warms up? Or should the water always flow immediately even when cold?
@@donerightbydadproductions Thanks! I figured out that the little hole that the water pees out of was clogged with seaweed or whatever. I shoved a little wire in it and it immediately started flowing again! Yay!
@@joeblow1942 Oh yes that happens all the time. Especially if you’re dealing with the ocean if it’s ever running and not peeing I usually scrape over the whole with my finger nail and get the salt out of it and it usually freeze it up

Fun times... The shift rod broke while trying to do this job. Gotta love these jobs that start simple and escalate into whole projects.
I know the pain my friend
Mine just snapped too! 🎉
@@scottauger10 after I fixed the shift rod, the shift cable also broke... Those were fun jobs.

Mine flows immediately when I first fire it up takes about a second or two
