I was going to purchase a $60 bone knife that looks just like the knife Ellie uses in the game and then get a thin wood vinyl to lay over the bone with the portion exposed to mimic an inlay. Might be a decent dupe for a budget option. I like this video and it is pretty awesome that the commission process was video recorded and shared with you.
Your dedication is inspiring. I've been on a similar project trying to recreate the ICA 19 Silverballer from the Hitman series myself. But watching this video, I actually ordered a Cocobolo Beltrame stiletto myself and am trying to find an ivory one so I can attempt the same thing you did. Hey y’all! The switchblade can be found in many knife stores and online, some for $50 or less! If you’re looking for one mainly for collecting, just get a cheaper one. They aren’t the strongest ever, but I would mainly only use it for keepsake!
I would also like to add that you guys should probably use a case for it and keep the knife open to not put a lot of strain on the spring system of these types of knives I bought a real frank beltrame knife and I always had it closed in my pocket or on my drawer and it gave out after 3-5? months

@@VideoGameJunk I got one of the frank beltrames and found someone to make a custom handle for it and shipped it to them to have them assemble it. It turned out very good!

Tbh if I wanted to get a replica to actually use (for defense, cutting a box, whatever else lol), I'd want a larger version. My hands are small, but that looks way too small for even my hands. I'd also want one with a longer blade just in case

Why are the wooden handles not tapered to go flush at the ends with the bolsters.
$150 for 2 knives and $250 for custom made handles isn’t all that unreasonable for such a quality final product. Did you ever look at an estimate for using real ivory or did you avoid it entirely for ethical reasons? Either or, congratz on your beautiful blade.
Thanks. I didn't look into real ivory because I've always been under the impression it isn't legal, but then I guess deer hunters do use the horns to make knife handles sometimes so I don't know for sure.

I don't think I reached out to more than a handful before Elijah responded, and I'm under the impression he'd never worked on something like this before and just wanted the experience. Seems like the whole "switchblade" market is popular but most people work with kits rather than modifying existing ones... Anyway he was backed up with other projects and in the middle of a move to another state so it still ended up taking close to a year before he got it back to me, with it almost being cancelled a few times. It took a lot of patience.

doing everything by yourself is too complex I think and makes no sense. Take some knife, sand and etch blade, do handles - will be great.
