    OAP biker, am with you! Within minutes of starting, this guy is bursting urban speed limits and red lights, and later, undertaking. Tool! Throttle, brake. Throttle, brake. No real control or planning. He says that it's a "grown up bike", pity he's not the same......

    Thanks for the review. Yes, the commentary was a bit unclear due to the audio setup, but I think you did a great job conveying the riding experience the new Explorer offers up.

    Mixed bag of comments 😉.... has to be said the riding was that of a 18yr old that has just passed his test and has no fear of the grim reaper 🤣. That said....
    I picking up my "new to me" explorer up on saturday...... the sheer excitement i could hear in ur voice while riding has convinced me i will love the bike - we all have a mad moment wen we ride 🤟
    Ride safe dude, cheers for the review 👍

      Cheers, eric. It is a supreme all rounder. It is not cheap but you do get what you pay for in this instance. It#s not bad looking - perhaps the best looking of the compettitors but everybody is different of course.

    I test rode that exact bike on Saturday!! Absolutely fanastic machine, you couldn't ask for more out of a bike. Shame about the price, but I suppose you get what you pay for.

      Yeah, a load of money.. Multistrada money. Still, if you are brand-loyal to Triumph then one would be very very happy.

    Really enjoyed that Ade, bit of a clunky gear change between 1st and 2nd. Sat on my mates at weekend shes a big ole girl.
    I am the current owner of 2014 Tiger 800 roadie, and looking to change her for something new next year.😃

      It is a BIG bike. The styling is very good but once you sit on it you realise that it is proper mahoosive and a bit wieldy. However, the bke set up is awesome and it comes alive. On sport, it was very impressive and managed to achieve a real spoty feel to it totally in opposite to how the bike is at low speeds.
      I kinda prefer all the 800s as the lightness generally equals more fun. I am quite interested in the Tiger Sport 800 but will also get out on the upcoming Tiger Sport 1050 which could be epic.

      Yeah, ha, it was just funny how something so heavy is so dynamic.
      Great bike - not for me right now though. I would actually rather have two bikes but I can see this being a potential bike once I 'settle down'.

    I thought I was the only one that made "vroom vroom" noises while riding. I'm looking at getting one of these beasts later in the year, and I think I'm convinved. However, I'm a short-arsed 5 10, so I'll need the low seat thingy. Does that still have the heated option?
    Loved the review.

      Yeah, it is watching it back. In my defence I felt comfortable on it and have known these roads for 20 years. I was keen to see the performance but definitely pushed it too much and should have taken it far easier. :(

      Ha, well, it was a demo bike :)
      It does turn really really well. It has super clever suspension and I have no doubt a bike racer could really shift this around a track in a surprisingly good time.

  • @fleuger99
    @fleuger99 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I test rode this bike this past weekend but it didn't have all the features yours had. I loved the bike, only negative for me was felt the cockpit to be cramped, like the footpegs were too high and the seat was uncomfortable. BTW. this isn't a sport tourer, it's an adventure bike. ;)

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +fleuger99
      Ah right, I didnt feel the crampness myself being a cyclist.
      yep, it is an Adventure Tourer BUT this XRT model in the Sports Mode is a Sports Tourer so i will stand by that! :)

    Shopping around. I have some telling me to buy the 1200 explorer but I think it may be too much for my intention of work commuting and short to midrange getaways. 95% probability of staying on roads.

      It would do the job for sure.
      Yiou might get away with a smaller bike.
      It might be worth looking at the Tiger 800s, the new Tiger Sport 1050, the new Yamaha M-10.
      I would definitely recommend having a test ride on the Kawasaki Versys 1000 and the Z1000SX.

    You ride inappropriately for the surroundings... maybe it's the camera... It's not you its the cars that don't expect you to ride so fast and they pull out on you... You are a tragic accident waiting to happen... nice bike tho.

      I absolutely get what you are saying and I am indeed a new rider. which is the point really. I am absolutely, in no way at all, a rider of any skill. I do know this. In my defence, I do NOT EVER normally ride like this (just in these sequence of videos). This is just for effect and my mindset is completely different. For example, I don't blast away, I don't make noises round corners and although I joke about getting a knee down, I am actually driving pretty slowly - I just make it look and sound worse for effect, as that is the style of my channel.
      All I really try and do is get across how the bikes 'feels' to me. I appreciate that this is not 'entertainment' for many people, only for those that understand that I am joking around in my manner but take it absolutely seriously.
      As I have often mentioned, I do believe that I am overall the wrong personailty for biking hence I mostly ride a scooter and sometimes a naked and never went back on a sports bike.
      I really do appreciate your comments as it should really be made clearer that this is stretching a bike through a road test which is not really suitable or advisable for a road. I really do mean to wish others to be safe on the road. This is NOT a ride tutorial video :)
      I will do one though so others can see how a person would normally ride and am always happy to earn more.

    Stopped watching when you went in about height problems for less than 5"8
    If your doing reviews then you should research the whole range every one who's into triumphs now knows there's shorter versions of the adventure bike that is factory lowered machines and set up not just lowered seats
    They were on the triumph stand at NEC show and got loads of attention

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +collcolin
      Well, they do a special low seat for the next version down but not on the XRT - apparently, which makes no sense to me.
      even 20 cm off will still make this bike tall though. There is no getting round the combination of the height and seat width.
      Setting the suspension on comfort helps a bit.

  • @kirkyandka7712
    @kirkyandka7712 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    What an abysmal load of crap. Remind me to avoid all your future road tests. Bike ridden like a knob by a knob. Very unsafe. I like the way the video ends with, Ride Safe Out There. Ps the Explorer isn't a sports toured either.

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hi.. read th-cam.com/video/Rw4Bz-6VtEc/w-d-xo.html&lc=z13dvx45szfks5qm223bzxyorzyuul10w.1462377522771202 for an explanation. In short, this is not a riding tutorial, moreover a tongue in cheek full test admittedly not really appropriate for a road. Alas, that is where the bike would be ridden.
      The bike is technically an Adventure Tourer. However, I still maintain that this particular model variant is a Sports Tourer due to two things; the suspension and the way it says 'Sport' on the top mode which changes the TC, Sussie and delivery to make it sporty.
      If you get a chance to ride this XRT in an 'inappropriate road' style on Sport mode, you will know what I mean. It was like a faster version of a VFR800!
      Cheers, I do appreciate the comment. I doubt my explanation of the other post will change your mind about me but, believe me, ordinarily there is nothing more important than me being around to see my three boys grow up.

    • @rugby3874
      @rugby3874 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Which Bike in America there are not very many Triumph dealers so if you own a triumph you have to drive a long ways to get it serviced or worked on and with the tenere you don't ever have to work on them because they don't break down

    • @RevMonkey
      @RevMonkey  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I imagine all of these bigger bikes are pretty robust but you are right, the proximity of a dealer can be the most important thing. The UK is half the size of Texas so we seem to have dealers close to hand at all times really.

      Which Bike I have used my 2 local branches on a number of different occasions and they have been sharks a few times...
      I bought a tiger from them but it came to me with way more miles than I was told... it also has never had anti freeze in it and then there was a lot of arguing about the spec and the deal and there are a numerous other issues.
      I have just bought a new Tiger Explorer 2016 spec from a triumph dealer that is about 2 hours away now and they look after me very well :D

      I thought the bike was too tall and too expensive.
      the sports capability was good.
      For the money i would likely look at other bikes.
      personally, i would save 4k and get a versus 1000 !
