    Great review - Much better than most I have seen about the 800! You covered all the basics and loved your enthusiasm.

    I just did a test ride on an 800 xcx last week and I had almost the identical reaction that you had on the tiger. I swear, I also said while I was still riding it, that I may have just found my next motorcycle. I had never been on a Triumph before let alone an adventure bike. I currently ride a Sportster so this was definitely a change for me and I absolutely loved it.

    I had the 800 road 2011. Loved it. So easy to ride. Sounds and feels quick and smooth. The clutch is amazing. But my plans are long journeys and have since got the Rocket. High speed isnt a problem for it, But bigger is smoother and the misses is only small and wanted to be lower down. But it is a great bike

    Great review and great bike, TBW (throttle by wire) is sensitive but once you get use to it... loved the bike so much went and got one and wont turn back. Wind noise can be eliminated by getting the tall screen also sports mode is faster (response) than the other modes.

    My 15000 dollar Yamaha Tracer was stolen and insurance paid it off. But after all that Trauma I want more for less. Thanks for your raving review! I know this bike delivers more and normally at a higher price new. But I found a 2016 with less then 12K mikes on it for 8400. Fer sure gonna go ride it and I have a feeling I'm gonna get hooked and get back to business after I buy it hahahahaha...

    I shed a little tear for you when you were testing your "flickability" on ruler-straight roads. Greetings from rural New England!! :)

    Great review :-), love the enthousiasme! I traded my street triple 2 months ago for the Tiger (XRX-version) and I really love it! I'm from Belgium and ride around Brussels almost every day...real heavy traffic.
    The Tiger is so comfortable and versatile....It's a must have for every traveller/commuter. Although sometimes I miss my Street... It was my super trusty buddy in many trips through Europe (Germany, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway,....). The Tiger is much better for these trips, but it was hard to say goodbye to the Street Triple... the bond was strong between man and machine :-).

      pnkfld100 I'm very happy to hear you are happy with the switch. Yes it will be difficult for me to part ways with the Street Triple R as well. I've grown quite fond of her. The reality is though that the Tiger is just a better option for me and the type of riding I want to do. Congrats on your Tiger! Ride safe!

    I have a Street Triple R 2016 and have decided exactly the same as you, that it's not so good for touring, commuting and shopping etc. so I decided to change it and so I ordered a 2017 XRT. I can't wait. In the UK, Triumph ran a deal where they included panniers and I ordered in time to qualify for that.

    • @MotoChooch
      @MotoChooch  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tony Lazzo man I wish we had that deal! Panniers and the top box setup is pretty pricey. This may be the start of a trend LOL. Congrats on the order!

    I've been thinking about moving to other bikes from my 2013 Tiger 800 (roadie) even though I still thoroughly enjoy that bike. After watching your NC700X video, I was convinced that was a viable option for what I want to do; however, after watching this video (and laughing at your excitement) you've got me second guessing myself. Re: the windshield, go with the best - Madstad. Their shields work well for a lot of people. They have adjust-ability up and down and fore and aft so you can really dial it in. In wet weather I put it down and angled back to direct air at my face shield and clear away the raindrops. In hot weather, I move it up and angled more forward such that most of the air goes over my helmet, allowing me to ride with the face shield up. It really transformed the bike for me. Next, you should review the Africa Twin DCT juuuuusssssst to make sure.

    • @MotoChooch
      @MotoChooch  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      LOL! I'm sorry I made it more difficult to decide for you! I don't think going from the 800 to the NC700X is the best direction IMO. The Tiger is just so much better than the NC. I thought about the Africa Twin DCT, but it is way more offroad focused and I wasn't too thrilled with anything about the Manual AT I rode, let alone the transmission. It just won't be what I'm looking for.

    Great review Mate! Picking my 2017 XRT up next week , my old a KLR is out well not old 2014 , had big plans to use the KLR off road and found in the last 3 years all I rode was 90% asphalt and 10% gravel roads and the tiger is going to do that in comfort and at 5.10 in high the XC is a little tall as was the KLR

      Congratulation back at you !! One thing you forgot to mention is the larger Alternator (650W) on the XRT and the XCA . The dealers only had a Triumph Tiger 2014 for me to test ride and I was sold on triumph riding the basic model So Like you looking forward to get my first ride on the XRT

    Didn't even know of rpm or this place until I stumbled on your videos. I was looking at HD but after sitting on a Tiger, I think my mind is made up... until the 2020 HD adventure bike is released.

      I still have my Tiger and even after TRYING to find something better I just can't. I've ridden the Versys 1000LT, and the Caponord ABS Travel Pack thinking one of those could do it. Nope. Tiger ADV best ADV 😁

    I take it you didn't like it! I test rode the XRX at the weekend and Yes, defo my next bike too, at the end of the year. I agree with all your points and cruise control on distance runs. It's especially good for us tall people (6'2") and it looks way better than the Tracer 900

    Hey chooch, why the 800 and not the 1200? I have the America 865cc and plan on getting the Tiger 1200.

    • @MotoChooch
      @MotoChooch  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 1200 for the year I bought wasn't all that great. Heavy. Cumbersome. The NEW 1200 however is a joy. For my model year the consensus is stick with the 800

      @@MotoChooch in my situation, would going from a Bonneville 865cc to a tiger 800 be a step down? I live in the Dallas area and avoid the highways because of the 865 vibration at 65-70mph.

      @@MotoChooch did you ride the 950S with all the fancy doo dads? How reliable is the triumph i heard something about oil consumption. also is the suspension fully adjustable? hows it feel in the corners compared to the multi? sorry for the questions but you have first hand experience. i will definitely be doing some test rides. I currently have an FZ 09 and discovered my love for long touring rides. even with my aftermarket seat its still not very comfortable for long rides and the wind beats me up pretty bad.
