Mercury, Anole, Hellion, Rockslide, Sway, Petra, Darwin, Vulcan, Slipstream , Lifeguard, Thunderbird, Omerta, Sunpyre, Maggott, Marrow, Dr. Reyes, ect. So many new characters and most them are never built up or given their time to shine. And yet, we keep getting new characters to fall into the same cycle. Since Gambit and Bishop joined the team, it feels like Cannonball, Emma Frost, and X-23, were the only new (old) characters that got a chance to be on the team for longer than 5 minutes.
This is my exact gripe. So many good characters get side-lined only to have new ones get introduced and then forgotten. Although Anole will be in NYX and Dr. Reyes will be in X-Factor, it's not enough.
These new characters just look and sound like the nu nu Warriors, but slightly revised by actual professional artists to kinda make them look sell-ready.
Love to see more black & female writers at Marvel even MORE on an X title, considering how often fans love to compare Charles and Magneto to black civil rights leaders and considering all the analogues the X-men share to black marginalized community. Funny tho, with that said, let’s be real they cud give us at least ONE all black&brown Xmen team just once (they have enough chars) if they wanted to, to make up for dozens of all-white Xmen teams, but that’s never gonna happen so I guess I’ll take what I can get 🤷🏿
They could do that, and then when it doesn't sell you'd be the first complaining about it. There's enough black characters sure, but a lot of em are wack, and people generally only cares about storm and bishop.
Art looks amazing. Story premise sounds fun. I look forward to see how this series turns out. We need more fresh stories. I seeing Emma in a teacher role. Her character in the X-Men anime worked really well in that way.
Hi there Blerd Without Fear. I just wanted to say that I recently stumbled upon this new video dealing with The Essential X-Men series and I just you did a wonderful job on it. This is new X-Men series is definitely going to be a very interesting one and I am really looking forward to reading it. I just hope that the writers of this X-Men series or some of the other bring Synch on to a team, just because he was a character that I really enjoyed when I read The Generation X comic series and I have enjoyed what some writers have done with the character recently.
I hate the fact that they don’t use those new characters that they introduced in New X-men… I felt like they were on to something… Dust,Anole,Mercury,Elixir, Icurus, Glob,Bling,Curse even bring Rockslide back they have so many to build off
This was a missed opportunity to bring back Banshee or even Synch in a teaching role. I'm starting to feel like Kate/Kitty is being forced down my throat. Also, what about Hellion, Glob, Match and all of the other forgotten students. And what happened to Darwin? How is the mutant that can survive everything always the one to die??

This might be the one I start with. Ngl, Emma Frost is my favourite Xmen character. I can’t help but notice certain similarities to some of Emma’s other students. Bronze is Very similar to Mercury. Maybe their fighting styles differ. The emotional based hero? Maybe he’s a less grating Empath. Melee? For some reason, I’m getting a mix of Strong Guy and Monet from her. So the trio would be very much reflecting all 3 of Emma’s big classes; the Hellions, Generation X and Academy X. Could mean that these kids may get issues where former students turn up and help out. Melee could be trained to be an assassin but… could we not? Seems like a recurring beat for a lot of East Asian characters to either be assassins or related to the Yakuza/triad. Heck, even Mall-Rat Jubilee has an aunt who was in the triad. Side note - nice to know the authorial details. Ayala’s New Mutants was just fantastic. Lavalle made Nekra have a glowup so good that she didn’t even need to beat Mandrill and/or grim reaper. I don’t know the ratio of work between her and Steve Orlando but I can’t lie; Giant Sized Proudstar was a very insightful book on a character that characters in story were more fixated on the idea of him than who he was… because they didn’t know him for long. I will say that the line that Xavier and Magneto “made the reservation and called it freedom” did make me laugh because part of me agreed that, to a lot of folks, that’s not an incorrect assumption to make of nations like Genosha, Utopia and Krakoa. Especially for a guy who grew up in a reservation. Great work.
You gotta get Eve L. Ewing on the channel! Also, can't wait for you to cover anything coming out about Uncanny X-Men by Gail Simone. I pre-ordered both that and Exceptional X-Men with my local comic shop!

@@gabrielmccreaii431 Roll20 has some of the rules for free if you wanted to try before you buy, but in terms of learning, they made it WAY more streamlined than the playtest if that's what you've got. One of their goals was to make it easy for comic book fans who have never played an RPG to get into.
I look at Melee and all I can see is Radiant Red in her base form from the Radiant Black comics. I like it. Love the Radiant Black comic and I’m eager to see how this new X-men era goes!
If bronzes power is just to harden her skin I'm DEEEEEPLY disappointed. The thing that annoyed me the most about krakoa was that there were very few never before seen mutant story lines. Especially ones of people with good powers.
They say something about whips in there. I wonder if she can use her hair or can control the shape of the bronze and kindve grow tendrils to attack; would be kindve cool.
Art looks nice... but I have some major beef with it. Not sure to blame the artist or Marvel ediotial tho. What I don't like? Simple, after years of X-Men Gold and Krakoa they are back making Kitty look like a friggin' teenager!! She is a grown woman, she should be able to look like it! All X school books eventually lead to conflicts and challenges with villains. I see a new Empath here. Emma dealt well with the first one. My book is always the book with Emma😀
Kitty and Emma’s relationship shifted to friendship during Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-men. Also, I feel like Melee’s ability, it is is a muscular shift, is a shoutout to Generation X’s Buff
They were still adversarial in Astonishing, always sniping insults. It came to blows during Cassandra Nova story. Kitty even went as far to say she knew evil (and it was Emma). It wasn't until Kitty ended up trapped in Breakworld's Bullet that they showed respect for each other. IT wasn't until Kitty's bachlorette party that it Kitty said they were Frenimies. It was Krakoa they really showed some friendship.

I still see Kate’s name change as more as identity crisis on her end because her real name being used in the Krakoan era ended on a bad note after all of the revelations Charles has brought for the war of ORCHIS, and having to kill humans, will make her feel very hard. She at least knew how the nature of her powers work with Krakoan gates, when every body can go in, she cannot and vice versa. She started optimistic as a Quiet Council member and Red Queen, but it all goes blue from here, for better and worse. Hence, she had to change her name to Kitty for possibly those reasons above. In terms of de-escalation, we went from Kate, to ShadowKat, to Kitty.
I'm getting burned out on X-titles.. it's been too much to fallow it all in the past 6 months... and gone back to single titles like Hulk, Blade, Thor, Carnage, and Venom because the fall of Krakoa turned into a cash grab. I got a few characters I want to watch.. But I need to build up strength or see an interesting connection like Storm get pulled into Thor's drama, or what becomes of Tony Stark's and Emma Frost marriage.. Though in Storm and Emma.. I really don't need that kind of reason to want to see what is happening to them, since they are both just naturally interesting... They just have examples of ties into other parts of the marvel universe that could draw me back to Mutants, since I'm burned out on Mutant titles.
I don't understand why people are mad at Chawls(Charles) for giving up on the Dream. Look at reality. He wasn't the only person to integrate his people into a burning house.

Hello, I am here to talk about Valiant universe. Another superheroes/villains world having their own comics. It deserves more attention. They have many characters like Bloodshot, Ninjak and others.
There are blue people in the world. I watched a documentary on the phenomenon a few years ago. It’s rare, but widespread enough that it’s a known condition. Many who are afflicted with it are recluses. I was shocked a couple years ago when an elderly man with blue skin came into the restaurant I work at. Such a rare sight, but it was amazing to see it with my own eyes.
I agree it's great to see a woman of color writing an X-Men title. But I must say that there's something people keep forgetting about with the X-Men. They are a multi cultural team not a race team. Example, the adjective less team is Southern American,Cajun,Germany, Canadian,Asian ,and Moroccan. Exceptional has a Jewish leader, etc. Some things are beyond just race and I believe things will continue on the line of including everyone
Truuue, but it’s interesting how many of those ethnic groups and cultures you named have people of black and brown complexion but for some reason hardly ever have anyone of black and brown complexion on an X-team except the occasional token person of color just like many of those ethnic groups and cultures you named are assumed by many to only have people of white complexion or non-African/Carribean descent in mainstream media.

Know I'm probably in the minority here, but I really enjoyed the romantic tension between Kitty and Emma back when Duggan was writing Marauders. I really hope Ewing brings that back.
I'm not really excited about this one because of the line up. Would like to see some established young mutants to mix in with the new ones? However, I am excited to see a black woman write a core x title. Just seems like they are setting her up to fail.

I think X-men 97 and the inevitable MCU debut has them moving the books back to classic status quo.
That last voted x-men at the Fall of X gala, was the most diverse X-Men teams. Shame they never actually used the team fully.

I still see Kate’s name change as more as identity crisis on her end because her real name being used in the Krakoan era ended on a bad note after all of the revelations Charles has brought for the war of ORCHIS, and having to kill humans, will make her feel very hard. She at least knew how the nature of her powers work with Krakoan gates, when every body can go in, she cannot and vice versa. She started optimistic as a Quiet Council member and Red Queen, but it all goes blue from here, for better and worse. Hence, she had to change her name to Kitty for possibly those reasons above. In terms of de-escalation, we went from Kate, to ShadowKat, to Kitty.

I'm getting burned out on X-titles.. it's been too much to fallow it all in the past 6 months... and gone back to single titles like Hulk, Blade, Thor, Carnage, and Venom because the fall of Krakoa turned into a cash grab. I got a few characters I want to watch.. But I need to build up strength or see an interesting connection like Storm get pulled into Thor's drama, or what becomes of Tony Stark's and Emma Frost marriage..
Though in Storm and Emma.. I really don't need that kind of reason to want to see what is happening to them, since they are both just naturally interesting... They just have examples of ties into other parts of the marvel universe that could draw me back to Mutants, since I'm burned out on Mutant titles.
I don't understand why people are mad at Chawls(Charles) for giving up on the Dream. Look at reality. He wasn't the only person to integrate his people into a burning house.

Hello, I am here to talk about Valiant universe. Another superheroes/villains world having their own comics. It deserves more attention. They have many characters like Bloodshot, Ninjak and others.
There are blue people in the world. I watched a documentary on the phenomenon a few years ago. It’s rare, but widespread enough that it’s a known condition. Many who are afflicted with it are recluses. I was shocked a couple years ago when an elderly man with blue skin came into the restaurant I work at. Such a rare sight, but it was amazing to see it with my own eyes.
I say the sentinel story on xmen 97 made me realize it's the xmen vs terminator 🤔
I agree it's great to see a woman of color writing an X-Men title. But I must say that there's something people keep forgetting about with the X-Men. They are a multi cultural team not a race team. Example, the adjective less team is Southern American,Cajun,Germany, Canadian,Asian ,and Moroccan. Exceptional has a Jewish leader, etc. Some things are beyond just race and I believe things will continue on the line of including everyone
Truuue, but it’s interesting how many of those ethnic groups and cultures you named have people of black and brown complexion but for some reason hardly ever have anyone of black and brown complexion on an X-team except the occasional token person of color just like many of those ethnic groups and cultures you named are assumed by many to only have people of white complexion or non-African/Carribean descent in mainstream media.

Know I'm probably in the minority here, but I really enjoyed the romantic tension between Kitty and Emma back when Duggan was writing Marauders. I really hope Ewing brings that back.
I'm not really excited about this one because of the line up. Would like to see some established young mutants to mix in with the new ones? However, I am excited to see a black woman write a core x title. Just seems like they are setting her up to fail.

Never read an X-Men comic &thought to myself, damn Emma Frost sure is a great teacher. Frost is a homewrecker, a succubus, arguably the most manipulative mutant or character in all of Marvel but great teacher or role model never came to mind. I'm so F'in sick of the whole Emma and Kitty friendship, Kitty hates Emma &that's the very best version of their relationship. Them as BFF doesn't work but with Eve actually mentioning how the two don't get along gives me some hope for the book but if she tries to make them BFFs then I'm out

I, a mixed race person, who has experienced more racism from both black and white people (my ethnic origins), do NOT care about who is writing the stories, as long as they're good. I am surprised to really hear this man. Been following you for a long time and heard bits here and there, but even you have to agree the BEST person for the job should write the stories. It doesn't matter if they have skin in the game, because from my life experiences, having skin in the game means nada, but makes you more of a target from the small minded vocal minority spewing their hypocrisy.
As for Exceptional X-men, I'm interested because they are creating NEW mutants instead of changing old ones we love. Should be a fun read. .
